Playoff Scenarios “A Waste”

December 21st, 2016
Just win baby.

Just win baby.

Even though Bucs fans are a bit sullen over the loss to Dallas, playoff chatter is all the rage in Tampa Bay.

Joe was listening to the one and only Chris “Mad Dog” Russo yesterday, heard exclusively on SiriusXM Radio, and every other caller offered an if-(X-team)-loses-and-(Y-team)-wins curve of the road. It got old real quick.

It got so boring and lame that Joe was actually expecting the ubiquitous Capt. Janks to call and work in if-Bobo-does-this, then Baba Booey might see Howard Stern’s unit.

It seems Bucs coach Dirk Koetter is bored with the subject as well. He said yesterday if the Bucs don’t win, it’s all hot air meaning nothing.

“It’s everywhere, so you can’t miss it,” Koetter said. “Of course, it’s out there. We talked about it a little bit in the meeting, but if we don’t do what we’re supposed to do, it’s a waste of your time.

“If we don’t do what we’re supposed to do, then it’s just speculation, so we can’t spend too much time. We’ve got our hands full just worrying about the Saints this week, so the rest of it is all just a bunch of math problems that are over my head.”

That’s pretty much the way Joe looks at it. There is only one thing to focus on: winning. The rest is just mental masturbation.

Right now, all the Bucs can hope to do is win out and drink heavily. That’s all they can do.

We’re either in or we’re out! To coin a phrase from an era gone by – “It’s as simple as that”!

I would love for our beloved bucs to be in the playoff. heck i was not expecting us to compete like we have this year. with a few missing upgrades i think we can be a force next seasons for sure but GM has to play his cards right. im not saying hes done a horrible job not at all he just needs to keep hittin on those draft and free agent signings. GO Bucs!!!!

  3. Rrsrq Says:

It can be crazy, Bucs brass are right, go 1-0 the next two weeks. It is better than looking at mock drafts which is usually what we Bucs fans are doing this time of year

The entire town is talking about the Bucs right now. I will take that over who we should draft next year, or who our new coach will be.

  5. Dave Says:

Simple – if they step up and run in the trenches the next two weeks, they finish 10-6 and probably in the playoffs. Must win up front

@Chris – nailed it! The team has performed better than any of us had an reasonable expectation of them being able to do, especially when you factor in the injuries that have happened. People are bemoaning the oline or whatever else people find to complain about, but the fact is that we’re doing better than we’ve done in a long time. It’s great to see that there are building blocks, there’s a clear path to improvement. Another off season where we can get another quality receiver with the money saved from VJax’s salary, hopefully some highly drafted offensive line help, and continuing to build up our defensive line, coupled with the continuity that will come from building upon the foundation laid this year, will make next year a lot of fun to be a part of.

We have to get a win in New Orleans or nothing else will matter. I am flying to New Orleans today. Can’t wait until Saturday to get here. I just have to behave on Bourbon Street until then. Can’t miss the game due to any inebriated mishaps. 😎

Are you kidding Joe? You run a site on the Bucs, suddenly relevant after a decade in the fog, and you complain about playoff chatter?
Why would you throw water on the fire?
Joe didn’t throw water on any fire. Please. –Joe

Check it man its always bigger than play on thr football field. The ratings for our game Sunday determined our playoff fate. We getting inn on the strength of that alone. I rewatched the game last night on nfl network to eye we were clearly standing down. This is why the skin’s lost Monday. Reflect back if yoy will, the packers beat steelers as a 6th seed(wit 15 players on IR) the giants beat the un defeated pats as a 6th seed. We had to lose Sunday in the event we face the cowgirls again because no way they allow us to beat them twice had we won. Theirs always a game we see on the TV,we never see the games being olayed behind the scenes.

Buccs can still get in with a loss if…oops wrong thread 😉

  11. Shadow man Says:

Nope that’s great and all but has nothing to do with us if we don’t win our next two games and have at least one team lose a game.

Regardless of what happens I agree with Chris. this is so much better than figuring out who I want to draft when it’s the third week of September. I’m proud to be a buc fan and I’m looking forward to our future. Jason and dirk and jameis have been incredible to the evolution of this team and anyone who says they are doing a poor job are just bitter and angry ppl.

NOS-BOS – you are out on an extremely skinny limb with that chit dude.

I think Coach knows they’ll lose the last two games because they are way too banged up to make win out. At this point, we should know that the Bucs are too thin at too many positions. Perhaps in a couple of years they’ll be ready to compete in the playoffs. But, by then they’ll have to replace a number of core people. Not a good situation.
