No. 91 is a beast among beasts

Did you hear that loud and passionate call for Robert Ayers to make the Pro Bowl?

Fan voting ends tomorrow, but a former Buccaneer was bellowing his vote yesterday.

Joe’s talking about 12-year NFL tight end Anthony Becht, who calls college games for ESPN and chatters for pay on Buccaneers.com and the Buccaneers Radio Network.

Becht hopped on WDAE-AM 620 and waved a giant Ayers flag.

“My gosh, you know the TV copy doesn’t do [Ayers] justice for me when I evaluate,” Becht said. “When I went home last night, I was watching the defensive cut-up [film], and I’m telling you, Robert Ayers just absolutely embarrasses guys. Every single down he gives you maximum effort, man. You love the way he plays. Just a premium sign for this team. I’m so glad he’s healthy. Truly is the difference having a healthy Ayers on the field. He’s a gamer, man. He’s just big time. I think he’s playing at a Pro Bowl level.”

Very impressive stuff there. Becht is not one to heap over-the-top accolades like that in radio interviews. He added the not-so-secret sauce of the Bucs defense is what Ayers and Gerald McCoy are doing together.

Ignore the stats, Becht said, film reveals McCoy is dominant.

Bring on the Cowboys!

Joe did you see the clip on BSPN? If not search for the clip Dilfer: Winston knows how to connect with People

I agree with Becht, I would just also add how well the rookie Noah Spence has developed. Ayers, GMC and N. Spence have all been major contributors to our new turn around with our pass rush. I also believe that J. Hayes guidance and coaching has made the DL as a whole perform at their best.

Green Bay and Tampa end up 10-6, we both will have 8-4 conference records, common opponents we both lost to Atl, but we won one, both beat CHI, they will beat them twice, both beat Seattle, and if we lose to Dallas, they lost to Dallas, so this game looks like the tiebreaker if we win, we lose and end up tied, Green Bay has the advantage in Strength of Schedule, but who knows

  4. Defense Rules Says:

Anthony Becht nailed it … Ayers has been a fantastic addition to Bucs DLine, as has Noah Spence. Those 2 pieces are what McCoy, McDonald & Gholston needed to really create an elite DLine in terms of pressuring the QBs. All 5 need to stay healthy for the Bucs to win these last 3 games.

Your boys at PFF have consistently graded him very highly this season.

  6. Waterboy Says:

Green Bay still has Minnesota and Detroit on the schedule and right now Minnesota and GB are tied in that division so I fully expect that game to be a dog fight. Detroit is leading that division but have to face NY and Dallas so it’s very possible they could be fighting for a playoff spot when they face GB in week 17. I don’t see GB going 3-0 down the stretch.

  7. SB with Jameis Says:

I voted today for the ProBowl but I couldn’t find Noah Spence anywhere. HUGE oversight by the NFL. Either that or I am blind

  8. unbelievable Says:

@SB I think that is because he wasn’t a starter at the beginning of the season. Lame, right?

  9. pick6 Says:

maybe a couple years of ayers will help Joe close that old Michael Bennett wound. Seems like the versatile player, emotional catalyst, and GMC complement that we lost out on when when MB went to Seattle

    @guzzie,

We lost a tiebreaker to GB a few years ago, how did that turn out, GB became SB champs, can’t happen again, no way, no how, we win out, don’t leave it to tiebreakers unless 49era beat the Falcons, go Kap
