Gruesome Game For Cherilus

December 11th, 2016
Rough night for Bucs veteran.

Rough night for Bucs veteran.

Joe kept getting Twitters throughout the game whining about the offensive line.

It’s gotten so tiresome the past, oh, 10 weeks, Joe has learned to ignore it like the spam e-mails Joe gets for Cialis bargains.

You know, boy who cried wolf stuff?

Well, in the third quarter, Joe decided to see what all the commotion was about. And let’s just say that if penalty-prone Demar Dotson returns to the lineup next week from concussion protocol, you won’t hear Joe bellyache.

Gosder Cherilus has turned into a full-blown turnstile, if today’s game is an indicator. You know, like Jeremy Trueblood was his last year with the Bucs.

Joe watched three straight plays when the Bucs had the ball late in the third quarter focused specifically on Cherilus with Joe’s binoculars. Eee-gads! It was bad.

Three straight plays Cherilus got totally worked over. It was as if a high school kid was playing at right tackle for the Bucs. On a second down play, Jacquizz Rodgers lost a yard trying to run inside of Cherilus. That’s because Cherilus got completely rag-dolled by Cameron Jordan of the Saints who blasted Rodgers for the loss.

Demar Dotson may not be having a solid season, but damn, at least he isn’t an expensive tackling dummy like the way Cherilus looked tonight.

Please get healthy, Demar.

Cameron Jordan is a badass. One of the best. Cherilus got owned but hopefully that’s just based on who he was playing today.

  2. lightningbuc Says:

Yet Joe wonders why Martin is struggling.

  3. Jonny 2.2 Says:

Another O-lineman that played like crap today is Donovan Smith.

  4. TurboKevin Says:

Eventually the BUCS sub par OLINE will get them beat, especially if they’re fortunate enough to make the playoffs. Glaring need at both tackle spots. Smith is also as useless as a tit on a rain barrel

  5. firethecannons Says:

Yeah–eee gads it was bad for Jameis–he was rushed, hassled and sacked multiple times by this lowly defense. He was amazing in the fact that he did not throw any interceptions, I would so rather see him sacked for 20 yards then throw a momentum killing pick. Go Bucs!

  6. duthsty rhothdes Says:

licht had many chances to build the OL thru FA and the draft, esp to protect the franchise but it didnt happen

  7. Kevin Says:

Dotson has struggled with penalties… but hes a wall. I woukd like to see him back next week.

  8. Buc1987 Says:

Cherilus is going to need to sit in the tub for the next 3 days.

He was manhandled so badly. He looked like a bitch out there and that’s no lie.

  9. firethecannons Says:

    Watching Dallas–dak looking very interceptable

  10. Warrenfb12 Says:

Your boy Donovan got worked worse than godser.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Yet…the Bucs won soooo I really DON’T care!

  12. tmaxcon Says:

    Both Gos and dotson blow.

  13. Defense Rules Says:

The player who’s getting beaten up week after week is Jameis. There was one play today that I thought we’d lose him for sure. But nope, up he pops (even though he did limp around for a few plays). Our OLine has to do a much better job of both run-blocking and pass-blocking or we’ll have problems and sooner or later we’ll lose Jameis. I’d vote for snagging 2 monster tackles in either the draft or FA and moving Donovan to left guard.

  14. JonBuc Says:

Now Joes…like you always tell us…you must be visiting some shady sites in order to get all of those Cialis ads/emails. 🙂 I digress…and the offense regresses when GodSpeed Gosder is in there…

  15. JR Says:

how BOUT KIETH TANDY!!?? DUDE NEEDS HIS OWN ARTICLE!!

  16. lurker Says:

so let me get this straight…

joe pays full price for his cialis?

  17. unbelievable Says:

Defense rules you nailed it. Jameis is tough as nails but sooner or later he’s gonna be out from injury if we don’t get better protection.

Now to be fair, he gets hit much less with Dotson, but still too much. Part of that is on the play calling too. Our scheme is primarily long developing pass plays. Normally the pass problems are penalties. My biggest issue with the oline is in the run game.

When your running back gets tackled in the backfield, it’s in the o line and play calling. Still can’t figure out why Joe is blaming the backs.

  18. DallasBuc Says:

Joes- totally agreed. Offensive line had their skirts blown out which directly led to one of the strongest defensive NO performances all season

  19. SOEbuc Says:

    You’re killin me Donovan.

  20. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Leave it to the Bucs to take a teams weakness and make it a strength against us. Raiders had a terrible rush d and we still couldn’t run against them.

  21. mike10 Says:

First rd pick this year should be OL. Grab a WR in free agency.

  22. Kevinator Says:

We are not drafting an OL in the first round this draft. This draft has a weak OL class. I wouldn’t put it past Licht to draft an OL in the later rounds though. Plus I really think Benenoch will be our starting RT in a few years, he has really good potential.

  23. Pickgrin Says:

We need to find some way to upgrade the LT position so we can simultaneously upgrade RT by moving Donovan over. Smith is just not getting it done at LT well enough. And Dotson makes a very good back up but has definitely struggled this year at RT

Problem is – high end left Tackles are REALLY hard to find/acquire without spending a top 10 pick on one or paying a literal fortune for one in FA if you ever even get that chance.

    D. Smith is the best we’ve got for now – but a QB like Jameis deserves to have a top LT protecting his blind side and Smith ain’t it. Not yet at least. Maybe he will get there. Hope so.

Cmon Licht – figure something out this offseason. Winston needs and deserves better tackle play on both sides than he is getting this year.

  24. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Licht whiffed at the 2016 draft when he had a 10 year starting LT, lare,y tunsil staring him in the eye and he didnt pull the trigger and grabed VH3 instead, horrible team pick by Licht when the franchise needs a wall to protect the franchise

  25. Big Marlon B Says:

    @Dusthty

Tunsil MIGHT BE a 10 year starting tackle, IF he can keep his head on straight. obviously someone was out to get him right before the draft, leaking that video that close to it. but between that and the incident with Nkemdiche falling out of the window, that shows a troubling pattern of poor decision making. there’s a reason he dropped as far as he did. and there is no guarantee that a player will pan out on the field either. Aaron Curry was widely regarded as the safest player in the 2009 draft….a can’t miss guy who would be a very solid player, at absolute worst. well, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. he was an absolute bust.

Hargreaves may have some question marks as far as lack of size and elite speed, but you can’t teach his desire to be great. he’s as clean as could be off the field, his behavior will never be a problem. i’ll take that 10 times out of 10.

  26. Lord Cornelius Says:

    “horrible team pick by Licht”

Wtf is wrong with you? VHIII easily looks like the best CB from the entire draft.

Tunsil is playing Guard – not LT; and Miami doesn’t have an elite LT. If he was an elite LT he’d be playing LT. He’s also dealing with injuries and sounds like a potential headcase.

Give me VHIII all day. Smith really doesn’t bother me at LT. It was the right side of our line that was getting destroyed.

  27. C. Alaka Says:

The run hasn’t been working lately these few wks b/c the runners are getting contacted either right when they get the ball or as soon as they get to the line. That’s not to say that Doug doesn’t deserve some blame, he’s missed a hole or 2 & doesn’t look like is explosive self but still a good runner. I think the run blocking hasn’t been that great & besides yesterday that has helped w/ the passing game. You can see how many 1st down play actions we do, the D is keyed on the run 1st down. Usually blows the run up & puts us behind the sticks.

Not trying to put blame but the facts are the facts. Yea Rodgers might have a better average b/c he gets a lil more explosive runs to boost his average but he’s NOT a better RB than Doug & neither is Sims or your guy Barber lol
