Dotson, McCoy Still Out; Humphries Limited
December 8th, 2016Updated 4:14 p.m. Two key offensive players have troubled coconuts.
Traumatic brain injuries, aka concussions, are no joke. But they are part of life in the NFL.
Wide receivers Adam Humphries and right tackle Demar Dotson are in the NFL concussion protocol.
Dotson didn’t practice today and didn’t yesterday, per Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com. Humphries was out yesterday but played a bit today.
Joe’s got a mindset that neither guy will play Sunday.
Joe finds Humphries’ potential absence most intriguing. Rookie Vernon Hargreaves is the No. 2 punt returner. He’s obviously capable, as he showed Sunday, but it’s unclear whether his hands are reliable full-time in that high-pressure role.
UPDATE: Per today’s official injury report, Gerald McCoy (foot) and Luke Stocker (ankle) have not practiced this week.

i kind of figured Hargraeves is now the #3 punt returner, with Huff being #1 and Humphries being #2. We are too thin at WR to keep exposing Humphries, especially coming off of a concussion
December 8th, 2016 at 4:18 pm
I bet everyone of them play.just Being careful with them
December 8th, 2016 at 4:21 pm
What about Josh Huff? Didn’t he do special teams for Philly?
December 8th, 2016 at 4:36 pm
I always felt like players seem to play better when they’re concussed. Ever seen a guy take a huge hit and then ball out the rest of the game? My first hit ever with a helmet on I got concussed which explains a lot for me.
I thought Koetter said VH3 was third string during last weeks pc after the game which led me to believe that Cecil shorts was the back-up.
I know for certain VH3 will take a few to the house if you let him return punts.

Am I the only one that thought “troubled coconuts” referred to another body part?

Report came out that Raiders will do whatever they can to sign Carr before Mack next year. I would go all out for Mack when he becomes a free agent and pair him with Spence.
December 8th, 2016 at 5:10 pm
Because…..they…..can’t do both?
December 8th, 2016 at 5:39 pm
Evans, Huff, Shep, Brate, Sims. We should be able to run our offense with #3 at the helm. Extra TE lined up next to the RT on certain plays.
December 8th, 2016 at 5:55 pm
Rojas, they have to sign Carr before Mack. Carr is a 2nd rounder on a 4 year deal, Mack is a 1st rounder with a 5th year team option. The Raiders are not hurting for cap space, Khalil Mack will be there for a long time
December 8th, 2016 at 6:09 pm
I think it’s dumb to risk Vernon on punt returns. He could get hurt and we need him to bad. Let huff return punts and kickoffs.
December 8th, 2016 at 6:09 pm
There is no way to even think the Raiders would let Mack slip by them. They would cut half their team just to keep him if they had to.
December 8th, 2016 at 6:16 pm
Here we go w/ the punt returner argument again…
You put the best 11 on the field at all times.
Antonio Bryant is arguably the BEST receiver in the game and he still handles punt returns.
December 8th, 2016 at 6:42 pm
Antonio Bryant came out of retirement? I’m the last to know.

Just saw the practice photos, and it has alot of Ali Marpet @ C and Benenoch @ RG. Photos of Joe Hawley showed braces on BOTH knees. (He still practiced with the 1st team also)
December 8th, 2016 at 8:09 pm
Kobe Faker are you saying the Saints still win this one?
December 8th, 2016 at 8:33 pm
Joe on and off topic: The Bucs have lots of injuries no doubt but have you paid attention to the rest of the division. Julio turf toe Jones and Sanu are injured in ATL. Kelvin Benjamin is nursing a shoulder. Michael Thomas has a injured foot. Now the rest of the receivers on each team our secondary can handle them. It’s those tall receivers we have a problem with. We still have Evans running healthy on all cylinders so that’s a plus for the Bucs. Another thing is we proved we can win against ATL corners and the Saints&Panthers have ROOKIES so it’s our for the taking. When the League notice that we are the Healthiest Team in the NFC South WE playoff bound. Could we be this healthy and deep because of Koetter not practicing in that scorching Florida heat in the off-season and Licht relentless effort to search for the right 53. Makes you wonder.

We beat Dallas last year with Tony Romo, Murray, Greg Hardy, and Randy Gregory. I think McClain and Lee played in that game I’m not sure though. I think we can beat them again but if we can’t here’s why not. Sterling Moore was all over Dez and he was familiar with him having practiced against him. So we might have a problem this year because Dez will bully our little corners. If we can stop Witten and Dez we can win in Dallas. Their defense can’t handle that high powered Bucs offense and that’s how we win. On Offense!
December 8th, 2016 at 9:26 pm
OUR Dline handled their all pro Oline too. We had Henry Melton and Michael Ghost Johnson and still beat them up. Now we got Robert Beasting Ayers and Noah the prince of pass rushing Spence. We about to bust they chops! Since Robert brought his angry bag of tricks to the trenches we have not been getting PUNKED on either side. Thanks BIG HOMIE! If Gerald was like that he would be a feared player.
Side note for Mike Smith:
McCoy gets off the ball so fast put him at LE and show him some Reggie White footage Mr. Hayes. If he could learn that arm toss like the Minister of defense wooo you talking about monster.
Put Hughes and Siliga at DT and Gerald and Robert at ends on run downs. Just those 4 player can eat up atleast 7 Olinemen. The rest of the Defense can roam ala the 2000 Ravens. We finally got the line you can walk down any dark alley with in World. Go Bucs!

God Tyreek Hill is ELECTRIC!!! WOW, This guy is soooooo fast
December 8th, 2016 at 9:44 pm
Here it is late Thursday and not a single artical all week about the Saints and what a challenge it is going to be to beat the Saints. Too busy patting ourselves on the back for the last 4 weeks. If the team is ignoring this game as much a everyone else, we are in for a butt whippin.
December 8th, 2016 at 11:09 pm
I agree Dreambig! Hopefully internally the team is not having these conversations. Which surely they are not. The most important game is the next game which is against the Saints! Hats on and lets do it!

I love your optimism and I think we can beat the Cowboys, but let’s get a few things straight:
1st, Tony Romo did NOT play last year in our game against Dallas, he was out. We faced Matt cassel.
2nd, Demarco Murray did NOT play, he was already on the Eagles.
3rd, MLB Sean Lee also did not play.
As I said, I think we can win this game, but it will much much harder than last year. Not really even comparable to be honest.
December 9th, 2016 at 2:40 am
Unbelievable your right about the players but I still think we have a good chance to win. It’s comparable because we’re both better then last year.
December 9th, 2016 at 9:50 am
That’s a totally fair point. Both teams are definitely munched improved. Should be a hell of a game.
