Yes, the Bucs defense was bashed and battered by opposing offenses, knowledgable analysts and fans for lacking effort during the first half of the season.

But the effort issue has changed radically through the past five games. The defense has gone from Boy Scouts to rabid dogs.
Defensive coordinator Mike Smith acknowledged that transformation today at One Buc Palace and Smith explained a nuance Joe finds important.
Early in the regular season, plus during training camp, Smith could only show his players film of his past defenses doing things right. The Bucs couldn’t learn much from comparing and contrasting their own play.
A body of work was built — and then learned from.
“Our guys have really seen the results,” Smith said. “We can back it up and show these guys. You know, we don’t have to show somebody else doing it. We can show our team doing it and them doing it. And they really have done a good job over the last five or six weeks in attacking the football and running to the football and taking great pursuit angles. It’s not just runnin’ happenstance that you’re going to get these interceptions. It’s about taking good, proper pursuit angles and making sure that if we don’t make the tackle, we can get the ball turned back in to the guys that are coming.”
What a beast of a coordinator Smith is. His unit is peaking at just the right time. And he didn’t need that three-year, Lovie Smith learning curve.
It will be a sad day if Smith gets a head coach gig in 2017.

Kobe they killin me wit this dallas o line mess. When you can show me Erik Williams,Larry Allen , Nate Newton,Stepnoski and co. then I’ll worry myself wit dallas o line. Until then stop it. Again we handled them last season and about to do again on Sunday.

Kobe – coaches with way worse resume’s than Smith get hired all the time.
Nothing laughable about a 5 game win streak either; considering the longest win streak in the history of this team is 6. Your jack4ss comments don’t change that.
Smith averaged 11 wins for 5 years in Atlanta. There’s only a couple active head coaches with that kind of success record. Even if you include the 2 rebuilding down years in atlanta, he averaged 9.4 wins a season as an NFL head coach.
He had already been considered for other HC jobs since he left. Add what he’s done here and you’d be dumb not to want this guy –

Consider the source. I don’t particularly care for that guy or the site. He was a huge opponent to drafting Winston and kept pushing that stupid fake-u-mentary on everyone. And even in the article it says “though he doesn’t know if he’ll be offered the job or if he’d take it or I’m an idiot trying to get clicks.”

You haven’t been watching the run blocking for the cowboys then. They are massive and mobile. Zeke Eliot is good, but they could have drafted a RB in round 4 and have him amongst the league leaders.

Back when I was telling everyone the truth!!!! But now it is plan for all to see in Buc land the Coach Smitty is the real deal!!! Some might even say he is the “MVP” of the season!!!!
