Marpet Talks GMC, Jameis And Camels

December 7th, 2016
"Thanks for keeping me out of a wheelchair, bro."

“Thanks for keeping me out of a wheelchair, bro.”

Joe called it and it was just dumb luck.

Seconds before Lavonte David’s pick-six Joe twittered something to the effect, “The Bucs could use a takeaway here.” Boom, two snaps later, David delivered.

However, Joe did predict a Bucs victory against the Chargers would generate a ton more Bucs coverage on national platforms. That’s exactly what is happening.

For the second time in two days, a significant Bucs segment was on “Good Morning, Football,” seen weekdays on NFL Network.

Tuesday, Ali Marpet was a guest. One cool segment was when Marpet was asked about when he realized he belonged in the league. He said it came last year in training camp when Gerald McCoy, in one-on-one’s, put him in his spot. But there were times when Marpet said he got the best of GMC.

Of course, Marpet was asked about America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. Marpet said, in so many words, he has never met a more real dude than Jameis.

“I don’t think that there is anyone on this planet that loves football more than Jameis Winston,” Marpet said. “He loves it. He loves practice. He loves every aspect of the game. He loves preparation, playing on Sundays. He loves getting everybody involved. That’s what makes it so much fun to play with because he genuinely wants to see everyone else succeed on the field. He is that leader. He wants everyone to play better. He makes everyone around him better which is awesome to have.

“He is 100 percent authentic. He is the real deal. He is a genuine person. He is a genuine leader. I think it comes to him naturally and I think that is why people gravitate to him. Because it comes from a genuine place.”

Also in the video, Marpet explains how he once made an Israeli camel moan in agony.

Co-host Peter Schrager again stated Marpet is his dark horse pick to be named to the Pro Bowl. Joe agrees and wrote that months ago.

Marpet for president! Protect the franchise!

  2. Warren Says:

Marpet’s a good interview..we start making national waves he’ll be everywhere. He also has great self control to not answer the “how does it feel years later to be playing Madden and playing with yourself?” question with anything other than “yup…still playing Madden and still playing with myself and it FEELS GREAT!”

  3. Patrick in VA Says:

I love the team, but more often than not the interviews are pretty bereft of any sort of personality. The Marpet/Smith hour is appointment listening. They’re funny guys and it’s cool to hear them weave in playing stories with day-to-day stuff. Better than the platitudes and canned speech that you normally get in those things.

    FTFY Joe. 🙂

  9. ITH Says:

Hope he gets picked but think he’s a year away. Getting recognition like this will get his name out there, help him get his extension end of year 3 and a pro bowl nod then.
