The Future Is Bright

Pat Kirwan approves.

Even Chucky might have to wear shades.

Remember when Chucky once said, back when he lorded over the franchise, that the future is so bright he has to wear shades? Well, Pat Kirwan is shopping for shades after watching America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, carve up the Bears last weekend, a game that included a crazy backyard football play between Jameis and Mike Evans for a huge gain.

The former Bucs scout, Jets front office big shot and current SiriusXM NFL Radio host said Team Glazer and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht should sleep well at night knowing the franchise is in Jameis’ hands, as Kirwan detailed on his site, Real Football Network.

No matter what happens the rest of the season, the people in the front office in Tampa… have to feel good because they know they made the right decision a year ago, and they have their QB. … Winston is 3-2 in his last five games with 11 TD and 2 INT. He has put this team on his back and is on pace for 4,200 yards and 34 TD.

It’s a very good feeling having a franchise quarterback for once. Jameis, thank god for you my man! I’ll be down there for the Seahawks game, so I hope we put up a good enough fight. That will be tough though

  2. teacherman777 Says:

    Come one haters and racists!

Try to blast Jameis again! Just try! Clowns.

And try to blast Mike Evans. Just try. Clowns.

Mike Evans is a franchise WR.

Doug Martin is/as a franchise RB.

Jameis Winston is a franchise QB.

We just don’t have a true #2 WR. CIP V-Jax. (Chill in Peace)

And we still lack 2 DE’s and 2 safeties.

But our teams is not that bad!

You guys need to chill out with all your hate!

And Miko is right!!! Bucs fans SUCK!!!

  3. Dr. Lob Says:

Its too early based on his inconsistency to call him a franchise quarterback

  4. BucTrooper Says:

Wow. Freeman feels like ancient history.

  5. Phil Says:

Everyone needs to remember that Jameis is still a very young quarterback. As hard as everyone says he is working 2 years from now he is still going to be a very young quarterback but a whole lot better. And a whole lot richer also.

  6. The Buc Realist Says:

The Defense carried the game until the offense finally woke up!!!! Still need pieces on the roster!!!

  7. Tampa Tony Says:

He’s had plenty of bad Freeman moments with his accuracy but overall is playing better which is encouraging. Playing KC and Seattle both with good defense’s I’m not expecting much though.

  8. Tampa Tony Says:

@teacherman- it’s not hate, Jameis isn’t above criticism and let’s be honest his accuracy has been spotty at times. Missing wide open receivers with overthrows throwing behind receivers and throwing high is a real thing. Dudes getting better but isn’t a franchise qb yet.

Play well against good defenses and upset either KC and Seattle and I’ll change my mind

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Agree with Realist….stating the obvious….we need a talent infusion at WR, S…..could use another TE and DE…..we could stand some upgrades at the bottom of the depth chart.
We have the money and all our draft picks…..let’s get it done.

Stick with this coaching staff for at least 3 years no matter what…..we can’t keep churning coaches.

  10. NashvilleBuc Says:

We are a decent team and getting better. We beat bad teams. We lose to great teams. Hopefully we can beat a good team or two down the stretch. Go Bucs!

  11. ShutTheBucUp Says:

We just got blown out at home 2 weeks ago by an Atlanta team that we handled pretty well in week 1. The MO of our QB is wild inconsistency. Good games come against lesser opponents, terrible games come at the first sign of adversity. Lets see if Jameis can lead the team to a winning record before people start claiming he’s the “answer”. Last I checked we have lost a lot more than we have won.

  12. aceinthehole Says:

One thing lost in the Dak Prescott hype is that Jameis is actually younger than Prescott. As good as he is, there is still plenty of room to mature and grow.

  13. BennyBucs Says:

Jameis is the youngest QB in the to throw for 40 TDs. Give him time, he’ll be fine.

  14. mike n Says:

i see 2 more wins this year, nobody needs to wear shades. Every time we beat a terrible team like the 49ers or bears there is talk about how great we are. IDK, maybe we get lucky and by the time we play Car, saints, and chargers their season is over and they mail it in.

  15. mike n Says:

@teacherman… we have been looking for 2 DEs and 2 safeties for a decade. Its greatly needed but very hard to find

  16. celly Says:

I think it’s safe to say at this point we really need ONE DE. Let Noah Spence get some more playing time to help develop his run defense as well as work on some more pass rush moves. He’ll be solid once he gets more reps.

I would also agree that we need 2 safeties, but one of those should come in free agency. I’d rather not try to start 2 rookies on the back end of the defense next year.

As far as the draft is concerned, at this current moment, at the top of the draft, I would go WR, DE, S. I may even consider a TE in the 4th.

If our O-line gets healthy in the offseason and Sweezy can actually show up, I think we’ll be OK.

  17. Kobe Faker Says:

    Mike i agree

I see wins at San Diego and the saints at home

*they might catch seattle sleeping with too much turkey and flying from the west but russel will probably turn on the switch and get a td to win it late

    No playmakers for jameid

The mediocre crap like brate, hump and martin, but against a playoff defense will be exposed

  18. The bucfan 88 Says:

@teacherman777 i agree with u 100% win lose draw we need to support this team and stop hating when we lose real fans stick through thick through thin and every time we lose everyone keeps talk crap all I got to say is relax the division is still in reach we just gotta win one game against one opponent we ar not supposed to beat & I believe we can do it coming into the season we were not suppose to beat Carolina but we did believe buc fans believe go Bucs!!!!!

  19. 1nebuc Says:

I would love to get these guys some help.

    CB TRUMAINE JOHNSON (rams)
    FS ERIC BERRY (chiefs)
    WR MICHAEL FLOYD (cardinals)
    OR
    WR DESUAN JACKSON (redskins)
    SS DALAINE ADAMS (lsu)
    DE DEMARCUS WALKER (FSU )
    WE COREY DAVIS (Western Michigan)
Trade GMC TO DALLAS for LT TYRON SMITH.
    How about this upgrade

  20. DB55 Says:

    1buc

    I like Eric Berry.

We have DEs in Jac Smith, Howard Jones, Ayers and Spence. They’re just never healthy at the same time but trust the combo of Spence and jones was getting to the QB.

What we need is oline and skill players.

    Wish list thus far:
    Dalvin Cook

  21. gilhealy Says:

@Tampa Tony, change your mind, or don’t change your mind. Either way, nobody care’s what you think. From now on, just pretend you’ve commented negatively on Jameis. WE all get you. No need to keep posting the same hate.

  22. 1nebuc Says:

    DB55…

YOUTUBE WR COREY DAVIS 2ND COMING OF RANDY MOSS

  23. Tampa Tony Says:

@gilhealy- you obviously care if you replied to me

Unbiased criticism is not hate. The criticism of Jameis has basis he’s not above being criticized like some misguided fans seem to think

  24. chipbuc Says:

Tampa Tony there is hating and there is criticizing, you seem to do more hating than criticizing. Just my unbiased opinion.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    Ho hum.

  26. DelawareBucsfan Says:

Gilhealy! I’m with you bro! Tampa Tony is way too negative. Probably feeling sad in his mothers basement because life is so hard hahaha

  27. skipper Says:

Dalvin Cook = Marshal Faulk, could be a nice weapon for Winston.

  28. Tampa Tony Says:

@chipbuc- I criticize but also praise Jameis when he plays like a first overall pick should. Hating would be if all I said were negative comments. No bias here I just don’t any to see the team do well.

  29. Tony Says:

I hate that Tampa Tony is ruining my good name.

    Here’s perspective for you.

    Jameis is younger than Prescott.
    He’s 22.
He would be a senior at FSU this year.

He’s going to be absolutely terrific. Embrace him, root for him, and realize that every mistake is a 22 year old learning to play a game. Imagine in 5 years how good he will be and the fact that at that point, with 7 years under his belt… he will only be 27 years old.

  30. WeAreLost Says:

    @ teacherman777
I love Winston but why do you have to be racist to hate him?
Some fans hate Glennon are they racist?
I seriously hope your not a teacher dude.

  31. Ed Says:

Winston is like a flame throwing pitcher who has a great heater but hasn’t developed control or off speed pitches. He throws great into tight Windows and has a knack for extending plays like kids did on the playground.

You do notice however that the easy deep balls which require a tight spiral and arc are very difficult for Jameis as also is the crossing routes.

He’s a work in progress, have to love his spirit and toughness but he needs to develop more variety of throws before he gets to be a top ten passer.

He’s young, hopefully he’ll learn how to improve his timing on me crossing routes and deep balls to become the player that can complete 65%-70% of his throws and get the yards after catch for his receivers.
