Choppin’ Jameis

November 23rd, 2016
Pregame fun.

Pregame fun.

Joe is still getting feedback on Twitter from Bucs fans of all creeds and colors who want to start the Tomahawk Chop and Warchant Sunday to help America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, get right in his mind versus the Bucs’ stiffest test in years.

Of course, we all know how Jameis thanked Chiefs fans, who years ago hijacked the famous Florida State warchant cry, for getting him fired up last Sunday. Jameis even remarked how he was choppin’ with Chiefs fans before the game.

Jameis wasn’t just trolling Chiefs fans. In a cool “Bucs Rewind” video produced by Buccaneers.com, cameras caught Jameis choppin’ with Chiefs fans before the game, and Jameis was hollering the warchant, too.

You could tell, just as he said, Chiefs fans made Jameis feel right at home. He was grooving with the crowd.

It’s a pretty funny scene.

Even Beyonce can’t sing the song in the proper key of B flat. We really need a better anthem, rather than an English tavern song whose lyrics were penned by a man who actually sued abolitionists about a war the US lost. I won’t even go into the “forgotten” third verse of the tune which would make you skin crawl if you googled it.

Why not the Tomahawk Chop and Warchant? If it gets Jameis and the team riled up, why not? If it gets the fans vocally pulling together, then why not? Right now all you ever hear (and not all that often) is an alternating T-A-M-P-A B-A-Y. Not only is it not that loud normally (only half the Bucs fans get into it at any one time) but it usually peters out pretty quickly. Warchant would at least have all the Bucs fans being vocal at the same time. Maybe that’d even raise the decibels a little.

As a Nole fan I am always for the chop when done during a FSU game. Having said that, I think the Bucs need their own chant to get the crowd fired up. Something original, maybe with a pirate theme. Back in the day (late 70’s?) we used to have the corny “Hey, Hey, Tampa Bay” song. Even that song was a blast to sing with the whole stadium when we would score. It feels cheesie to steal it from FSU like the Chiefs did. Maybe if we use it sparingly just to fire up Jameis, but we need our own team thing.

    I got a great idea…

How about if #3 plays great consistent QB football and we can all cheer for that?

Enough with the cheerleading articles….lets get back to bone crushing hits and awesome play by the guys on the field….this cheer stuff means nothing.

Went to the Raiders game. Talked to more than a few of them. None had ever been to Oakland. They just like the “bad boy” image of the Raiders. Most were from Ocala for God’s sake. Once the Bucs start wining at home, losers like that will disappear from the stands.

I’m so offended by that video making a mockery of the national anthem. Who ever made that video is pi$$ing on the graves our soldiers.

James Walker, Your clearly a man with out a country, and without a since of pride for the one you live in. Its a shame you don’t like this country because if you take a step back and take a look at America, today in the 21st century, its really a pretty good place to live. This song is about what Francis Scott Key saw from a ship from a Baltimore harbor that had been under attack from the British, when he awoke he saw our flag still flying and the British in retreat. It is primarily about battle and finding your Country survived the night. It was written in 1814 when slavery was alive and flourishing, if you say their are lyrics in not well known parts of the song that speak of slaves, I’ll take your word for it but it seems like you are trying real hard to feel discriminated against. How about just for today, you try to find one thing about our country you feel proud about. It might just make you feel better.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving to all! Or James Walker do we have to now hate that too because their were pilgrims and Indians there and we all know how that turned out.

I’m doing it home. I already have the war-chant YouTube video bookmarked so I can pull it up whenevs!!

Like the Commish said. It’s not about intimidating the Seahawks. Its about showing support for the team. If it gets them amped up for even a single play its worth it!!

It will only take a bout 7-8 people spread throughout the stadium. Just stand there and war chant all game. Every third down. Every time the offense takes the field. Every time they convert a third down. Every time Roberto lines up for a FG, or a little before, but stop before he lines up. We don’t need him distracted.

Those eight people war chanting and chopping all game. If its a close game a few people join the chopping slowly but surely. Next thing you know, its the two minute warning and the whole stadium is doing it!!! I know this works because it works that way in the movies 😉

I think chop will make fans and team look weaker as we can’t come up with our own thing. Bucs have nothing that involves with chopping , if we did than it would be ok. I rather see a red or black towel fans have and bring to every game and wave with some kind of chant. Like pirates would raise when attacking.

I’m a Cane fan and one of the greatest thing I saw was the tomahawk chop in fsu stadium as I looked back from the front row. It was amazing , the next best things was the first ever wide right that same day. Haha!! Respect to Nole fans always.

For all the people who say ‘Oh God no, we can’t do the War Chant at RayJay’…

If that’s what Jameis wants and it gets him in the zone and we end up playing better and winning more games and performing better in the clutch because of it, should we not start doing it???
