“Doug Martin & Gerald McCoy & Robert Ayers”

October 11th, 2016

About to beast again?

Did Demar Dotson provide an injury update following last night’s dramatic victory?

It sure seemed that way.

You can watch Dotson chat in the happy Bucs locker room right here.

“It’s a confidence booster,” Doston said. “You know, we get a chance to get some guys back, Doug Martin and Gerald McCoy and Robert Ayers. And so, I think we got everything we need going into the bye week. Man, once those guys come back, I think we’ll be rolling.”

Joe is not a doctor, and Dotson is not a doctor. But considering the Bucs are rather tight-lipped about injuries (yes, they comply with NFL rules), Joe is going to speculate that Dotson’s optimism is based on internal team chatter about McCoy, Martin and Ayers returning after the bye week for the Bucs’ Oct 23 game at San Francisco.

How great would that be?

The thought of the Bucs being 3-3 and coming home to face the Raiders is pure ecstasy.

They desperately need the d line to get healthy and they NEED A PASS RUSH!!
JW has got stop overthrowing off his back foot.

  2. pick6 Says:

seeing the playaction get our receivers open was a reminder how much we’ve missed the threat of doug martin. even when he doesn’t have a big game he can’t be ignored by the defense on playaction. it will be great if he’s back, even better if he can stay healthy.

as for the d-line, it was nice that they held their own in Carolina, but we need the big-name players back

  3. ElioT Says:

F**k Demar Dotson! He just about sabotaged the game himself.

Can’t wait to draft a RT next year and send his a** packing.

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Joe

Stop worrying about games 2-3 weeks away!!! Keep your eye on the prize!!! I do think that some of those that were injured could have played, but deemed it more advantageous to be very healthy (hoefully) the last 11 games of the season!!!! But right now it is all about San Fran!!!! We have 2 weeks to game plan and we get to really scout them they play the Bills at 1 this Sunday!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I’m surprised there are people in the media out there who think he’s good. He’s has been terrible this year.

  6. tmaxcon Says:

Dotson is a joke. Walking penalty machine that gets best more than not….

Anyone who thinks Martin and gmc come back productive are out of thier minds. Both are fragile and will not contribute much the rest of season.

  7. pick6 Says:

Dotson has gone downhill in a big way since being rewarded with that contract. hope he sorts himself out during the bye, we all know the physical tools are still there so if he gets right above the shoulders he can stop being a liability. His eventual replacement might already be on the roster – Caleb Benenoch is projected to develop into a heck of a player, although he has been dealing with injuries during what was supposed to be his redshirt year with the bucs

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

Jameis overthrows far to many passes to be a great QB. He needs to get more accurate if we are to win many games. Roberto left 7 pts on field with his kicking. And they were easy conversions. It will cost us a couple games this year if he cannot figure it out. Hate to remind you pom pom cheerleaders. BUTT…2-3 is below 500. And being below 500 is still unacceptable. It still says..You suck! Just sayin….

  9. Thibs5599 Says:

Hopefully when Sweezy returns pamphile can translation to right tackle and stay in the starting line up. As for injury returns aren’t those returns pretty obvious, ankle injuries aren’t season ending and I think we all have been expecting Martin, stocker, and ayers back after the bye all along, hopefully Cecil shorts can get back and Louis murphy when he’s off the pup lost so we can open up this offense a bit. Was getting nervous when it’s under two minutes and Mike Evans is the only WR on the field. Atleast we got Brate who seems to be a solid receiving tight ends.

  10. 1nebuc Says:

The run game is ALWAYS and ALWAYS will be the defense best friend . When we can run and let your defense rest you see what the bucs can do . We are going to be ok once we get healthy . Can’t wait for the 49ers .

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We really cut down on penalties except had our few at bad times…..

As for the Howard Jones penalty…..he did put himself in a position to block the punt…..but had the wrong angle to the punter.

All in all, I think we are cleaning things up in that area……no stupid personal fouls.

And, Evans was clearly interfered with in the end zone….he looked all around for flags that weren’t there but didn’t complain….he has come a long way.

Anyone who thinks we should trade Lambert and whoever for Ayers & GMC is absolutely delusional,

  12. BennyBucs Says:

Had Winston been more accurate we could have gashed their secondary like Atlanta did. I thought his accuracy was supposed to be a strength??

  13. Mojiska Says:

Man Mike way to look at the bright side of things. I would hate to live in the world you live in. You can also look at it like this.

The first part of our schedule was rough, being 2-3 is a good start especially given the amount of injuries that have piled up. We had to play 3 of the 4 teams that were ING their conference championships last year (Arizona, Denver, carolina) and super bowl teams back to back. Our only 2 division games were away games, we opened with back to back away games. This was a very challenging opening schedule, and at a time where we have a new head coach and a new d coordinator. I am happy we found a way to be 2-3 at the bye. Was it pretty? Nope, but most everyone said we needed to be 2-3 at the bye and here we are.

  14. jerseybuc Says:

Well Mike Johnson, we played the two teams in the Super Bowl last year and Arizona in their building. I think most of us thought those three games would be pretty tough to win. Two division road victories in first three games is not bad at all. Getting healthy with a bye week coming. I am happy to see where we stand right now. Getting the Panther monkey off our back was great too.

  15. jerseybuc Says:

Two division road victories in first “five” games is not bad at all.

  16. 813bucboi Says:

i was getting a little worried in the second half because dirk seemed to be calling a conservative game but we pulled out the win so that’s all that matters….really proud of the reserve dlinemen that stepped up along with big will and a.spence….those guys played the entire game without much rest…the fruits of hayes labor are starting to show….GO BUCS!!!

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jaquizz did great…..but his average of 3.3 yards isn’t any better than our normal average this year…..the difference was clear……playcalling…committing to the run and having the turnovers in our favor. we never fell far behind.
We should keep this up when we get Martin & Stocker back.

  18. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Realist

I know I’ve apologized to you for throwing you into the basket of deplorables who come here to simply find as much fault with the Bucs as possible. You were right about Lovie and I was wrong. And since then you’ve become one of my favorite posters…got about a dozen guys here who I really respect.

I agree completely with your take. It’s one game at a time.

SF btw IMO can beat us if we don’t play very well. They are still an NFL team which makes them dangerous.

  19. SOEbuc Says:

Cant wait for Stocker to come back healthy. We’ve been getting the corner blitz a lot and it has not looked good. If they weren’t totally, positively, 100% about Martin being %100 percent in two weeks I’d make him the backup and give most of the touches to Quizz

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It’s nice to see things bounce our way for a change……Carolina played like a Bucs team last night…..turnovers and a stupid penalty at a very crucial point in the game.
We finally beat a backup QB

  21. Ed Says:

Players who stepped up big last night:

Grimes, Hargreaves, McDougal, Evans, Rogers, Alexander.

    Players who dissappointeded:

    Jones, Dotson, Winston, David, Aguyo.

Oline played well. Dline exceptional vs run, horrible rushing passer. Very good performance by secondary, poor coverage by linebackers on Olsen. The coaching staff should have made adjustments vs the great tight end.

Overall very good defense, forcing 4 turnovers is something s special.. Game sshouldnt have been so close with + 4 turnovers.

Still cannot get it together in red zone. Getting to 5 yard line first false start, then delay of game (that was on Winston. Jameis missed open rereceivers badly with overthrows due to poor mechanics. He isnt stepping into his throws and he is very shaky throwing crossing routes or deep balls. Jameis has to play much better. Since Atlanta game he has been unable to grasp the offense and play efficiently.

  22. Waterboy Says:

Good win and on par with my 8-8 prediction for the season. I can’t wait to get Louis Murphy, Cecil Shorts, Ayers, McCoy and hopefully Sweezy back after the bye.

  23. Waterboy Says:

I disagree that Jameis played a bad game. I think he did what he had to and played like a 2nd year QB and focused more on managing the game and limiting turnovers. I also saw him check it down several times last night and take what the defense was giving him instead of trying to make a play when nothing was there. He also extended the play several times and made throws down the field when protection broke down.

  24. Waterboy Says:

I was also surprised to learn last night that Jameis is younger than both Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott so he definitely should have a bright future ahead of him is he keeps working and stay hungry.

  25. GhostofSchiano Says:

With a win at San Fran the Bucs would be 3-3 and have a 3 consecutive home games. All winnable. 6-3 or 5-4. Go Bucs

  26. GhostofSchiano Says:

    At Joe.

    Any news on Sweezey?

  27. tmaxcon Says:

    GhostofSchiano

That all sounds good but fact is bucs can’t win at home. They are better playing 16 road games. There is ZERO home field advantage at the den of depression

  28. Parnell's Dickinson Says:

This game was gifted to us. We will lose 10 games if this is our game plan.

Carolina turned the ball over 4 times and we scored 17 points. I know Jameis has made some bad throws, but we have to return to the Atlanta game mentality and attack our opponents. Dirk has regressed TREMENDOUSLY since the Atlanta game. His clock management possibly cost us the Ram game (did not call time out with 42 seconds left and we ended the game with an unused TO). Against the Broncos, he called a terrible game and then gave up entirely, punting on 4th and 6 down 20 POINTS in the 4th quarter. I have never seen surrender like that.

This week, we ran on so many passing downs and neutral downs that Jameis could never get into a rhythm. On the one drive where we attacked (when we were down 14-6), we ripped them and scored in 4 or 5 plays. KEEP DOING THAT! Don’t play scared or play to “win the turnover battle.” You must attack and BURY your opponent in the NFL. I thought Dirk knew that. He’s regressing and coaching scared, like Lovie and Raheem and Schiano before him. Use your weapons. Attack. Never waste a possession. When we ran on 3rd and 9 in a 14-14 game, I realized Dirk is terrified of Jameis making a mistake (he almost got picked on 2nd down). This is our QB. Let him play, and accept the occasional pick (worked for Favre, who played similarly).

  29. Parnell's Dickinson Says:

BTW, Joe — it’s crazy that you have not posted anything critical of Dirk’s chickensh*t play calling and poor overall coaching over the past 4 games. That may be the biggest story right now: our head coach is regressing and retreating and not playing to our strength, which is our passing game and ability to outscore teams to protect our defense, who can’t cover anyone and is going to give up points every week.

  30. ptwalk Says:

This was a good win but ladies and gentlemen, incompetence is still in the building. That is all.

  31. godzilla13 Says:

All the negative Nancy’s in full throttle all ready. Demar Dotson is not that bad. If not for the penalties he is a solid RT. Dotson has only given up a half sack and has 6 penalties so far this year. The most underrated player on this team is Kevin Pamphile. He has only given up 1/2 sack and has zero penalties this year. On defense our secondary played very well starting with Brent Grimes who only allowed one catch plus the INT. Hargreaves held his own but did give up 6 catches when thrown at 8 times. Keith Tandy seemed to be around the ball all night and Bradley McDougald played well too leading the team with 8 tackles. I like the new DT just signed, John Hughes. He has this intense, fire in his play, which is what this team needs more of. The number one reason we won, NO TURNOVERS.

  32. Pete Says:

Coaching the aggression out of Jameis is most evident watching his indecisiveness when on the move!

  33. martinii Says:

    What about Clinton McDonald?

  34. Pit Says:

Can we switch GMC with MCD?

  35. Bucsfanman Says:

I said it last week and it bears consideration. How much of Jameis’ inefficiencies did Doug Martin help cover by running the ball so effectively? He’s looked good in 1 game. We need more from the QB position if we’re going to be competitive. If Cam’s in that game, we lose!
The bye week comes at a good time.
    1. QB accuracy
    2. pass-rush
    3. FG/PAT accuracy
    4. clock management

Good W! Now get back to work!!!

  36. Brent bull/buc Says:

Dk called a good game. Nice balance between passing and rushing. That’s not conservative that’s smart balanced football. Some guys here sound like they want the old Dan fouts chargers. Well we don’t have the personnel for that style play. When dk has given jw a lot of pass attempts he’s thrown a lot of picks and we’ve lost.

  37. Doctor Stroud Says:

He can’t make that diagnosis with consulting me first.
