“Dominating At The Point Of Attack”

With apologies to Gerald McCoy, the Panthers’ Kawaan Short was definitely the best defensive tackle in the NFC South last year.

Last night, Bucs left guard Kevin Pamphile was stoning  with ease as the Bucs entered a severe trenches war with Carolina by pounding the ball with 5-6 Jacquizz Rodgers repeatedly.

Chucky was on the Monday Night Football broadcast watching Pamphile manhandle Short and said Pamphile was “dominating at the point of attack.” Pretty damn good for a 2014 fifth-round pick.

Pamphile continues to make Logan Mankins forgettable and injured J.R. Sweezy a head-shaker of an acquisition.

Joe highly recommends you watch this video. It’s every touch for Rodgers last night. Focus in on Pamphile. He’s not perfect, but he’s putting some A+ film on his resumé.

What do we do when Sweezy is healthy?……Do we move Pamphile to RT?…….do we use Sweezy as an extra lineman on some packages? It’s a good problem to have.
Maybe we move Sweezy back to his old position on the Dline.

Doubtful. However, would not shock Joe the least if Marpet at some time (next year?) is moved to center and Sweezy to right guard. Remember, when Jason Licht drafted Marpet, he said he could also play center.

I like the idea of pamphile at right tackle but why mess with a good thing. If he can play at the same level at tackle and Sweezy can play at same level at guard I say we do it, but most likely that wouldn’t happen until the off season and Sweezy rides the pine/first guard off bench for breathers and injuries. Which will allow smith to focus on center seeing how Hawley ends up injured at some point in every game.

    @Joes,

That would be a BEASTLY O-Line.

pamphile did a nice job last night…he needs to be on the field no matter if its rt or lg….hopefully the rt we just drafted c. benenoch can develop into a serviceable player….Dotson is becoming a liability….GO BUCS!!!

As much as J Licht gets killed for some of the moves he makes give him some credit for these pick ups he makes . This is a team that will be RESPECTED in the near future

  7. 1Gr8Buc Says:

Marpet was mauling people as well to the point where he was getting under their skin.

Jacquizz Rodgers was once the highest rated High School Running Back, coming out of Texas. He was an awesome pick up. Even though our line was dominating, we would not have won that game with Sims playing.

Sweezy? Who is this Sweezy you all keep talking about?

I think Pamphile was very good and we have a ton of depth. Joe Hawley has really impressed me and doesn’t get enough press. He is such a tough SOB and the Ayers of the OL. Great nasty disposition and mentor. He is not going to over power you but will screen block and gets to the second level as well as anyone. Hats off to the entire line. Smith came in to releive and did well Smith and Dotson were above average facing that front 7. Also, Hats off to the other side of the line. Gholston will be a star next year and did the dirty work all game.

Pamphile, Smith and Marpet all looked really good in that clip.

Dotson wasn’t terrible but didn’t get much push either.

Hawley got blown up a lot and barely got any decent blocks. He was a liability sadly.
