The Boot

September 18th, 2016
Wearing a boot.

Wearing a boot.

If the game today wasn’t enough of a horror show, then the sight Joe saw in the locker room really turned his stomach.

There was Mr. Beasting, valued free agent defensive end Robert Ayers, wearing a boot on his lower left leg.

Joe wanted to throw up.

It is Joe’s experience that any time a player wears a boot, it’s two weeks for him to fully recover, at best. Recently, right guard Ali Marpet, in a freak accident in the preseason, wore a walking boot and he missed the final two preseason games but was was fine for Week 1.

Joe will have more as details surface.

Bucs took a beatdown. An A..whippin with..injuries to boot. Cry tonight and Ruck up Bucs..you got the Rams next Sunday. Injuries are part of the game. Its..next man up. You are facing a MUST WIN situation next Sunday else we be..1-2. To be the best..you gotta beat the best. What a great sayin huh?

We got punched in the mouth, we got punched really hard and it really hurt.

[Hey, Loggedontosay, Joe likes you because you have been a long-time commenter. Noticed you used two different forms of ID on your posts. You are aware Joe runs folks trying to set up alias accounts, no? Be careful. Joe really doesn’t want to run a loyal commenter. Tread carefully, sir. — Joe]

I wonder if today we had more than the usual amount of alias names. At times it felt the same person was answering themselves..it was like watching the movie Sybil..

    Me?..One ID since day one…

  7. LifeOfABucFan Says:

And get well Robert Ayers Jr.! You’re one my favourite players!! Get well big guy!!!!

  8. SOEbuc Says:

Injuries affect the team both physically and mentally

  9. Stpetebucsfan Says:

A question for of you. When you were calculating your season record predictions did ANY of you count this as a win.

As for Ayers it’s the next man up. This means Noah is going to get an immediate and advanced education in rushing the passer.

It may also mean Smitty is going to have to create some exotic blitz packages.

I’m falling in love with Hargreaves…kid is not afraid to stick his nose in there.
Some have already started comparing him to Ronde. I can’t go that far yet because Ronde is in the pantheon of Buc gods…but I do think he has a similar style and would be a very effective blitzer.

  10. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    StPete..
Remember when Ronde said in a preseason game that he didn’t really click as a good CB till his third year?..then he said VH3 was way ahead of him?…

  11. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    AND St Pete..

I said Bucs would go 9-7 and a playoff spot..10-6 when I was in a good mood..

I did not in my heart think they can win this game..I don’t think even the Panthers can beat the Cards..

This game to me was a loss, but not a huge loss…let’s get the tough games out of the way and this one was the toughest..

  12. Ed Kerber Says:

Chris Conte had a terrible game. Put in the rookie. Cut Conte. Bucs still need help at WR and DE. Also sign machBrown Jr for RB. From Redskins practice squad.

  13. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Did you not see Conte play last week?…Atlanta would have scored 14 points on us!! Conte stopped that!! @Ed Kerber

Just about everyone had an off day…it’s one team, one heartbeat and they proved it today..not a bad thing..

  14. Ray Rice Says:

    Dam!

  15. D-Rome Says:

While literally speaking there has to be a “next man up” it is stupid to think that the next man is going to perform at or near the same level as the injured player.

  16. "That guy" Says:

I had 8/8 and no, I didn’t have this game as a win. I was hoping we might be competitive in a close loss. But I guess that was to much to ask. I did however count next week in my prediction as a win.

  17. "That guy" Says:

D-Rome. Normally I’d agree with you, but I think Noah spence is better pass rusher then ayers or smith. So I like next man up here. And sims should do just fine filling in for Martin, as long as Winston can keep this team competitive. And he wasn’t even close to that today. I’m not talking turnovers either. Just asking for a consistent pass attack.

  18. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Damn… J. Smith and Ayers in back to back weeks? A lot on the shoulders of Will Gholston and Noah Spence now. We’ve been saying Gholston will get better for a couple years now… We’ll see.
