Koetter Admits He Is “Anal”

September 6th, 2016
"Anal."

“Anal.”

Football coaches seem to be of the same mindset: paranoid.

Everything has to be just so. Any little thing out of place and calamity strikes, so they think.

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter all but admitted, just like any football coach, he’s the same way.

In a Monday interview with WFLA-TV Channel 8 sports anchor dangerous Dan Lucas, Koetter said the recent whack of Hurricane Hermine to the Tampa Bay area not only threw the Bucs off schedule, it made his backside pucker.

“The hurricane left us high and dry,” Koetter said. “I know that’s a weird way to say it. As far as practice goes, we went five days without practicing which is good in the fact that our guys should be fresh and healed up from the preseason. But it is also a little scary as a coach, of course, because you are so anal about every little practice and every little rep.”

Well, it’s refreshing to know Koetter gets that way about interrupted practices.

Also in the video, among other things, Koetter is as geeked as Bucs fans are that the worthless preseason and mundane training camp practices are over and that the real bullets will fly Sunday at Atlanta.

How big of a game is it? Koetter believes beating the Dixie Chicks is like winning two games. You can enjoy the interview below.
