August 7th, 2016

jason licht 0224bHere’s the video teased in Saturday’s practice notes.

This time it’s an A-list angle of rookie defensive end Noah Spence taking Donovan Smith’s lunch money yesterday in live 11-on-11 action.

Enjoy!

His bend, leverage and speed will make him a wealthy young man very soon. Spawn is a machine, the line “none stop motor” caught my attention even when I was screaming for the other guy.

  2. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    cam newton beware..

  3. Harry Says:

Very nice indeed!!! Was that not a stunt? Talent and scheme make such a great combination!!

  4. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Damn. He will be getting plenty sacks this year

  5. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Catch 22 here… Good news is Spence has veteran like inside moves. Bad news is Donovan Smith STILL struggles with the inside move. Hopefully iron sharpens iron in this camp.

  6. McClorasMaddenDaddy210 Says:

    SPAWN!!! nice
@BigPoppaBuc, damn i was thinking the same thing. Cmon Don…we KNOW YOU CAN DO IT

  7. McClorasMaddenDaddy210 Says:

For the optimistic…the GRAND SLAM class will all sign TEAM friendly deals, as well this class thus creating the new NFL DYNASTY for the next decade!
    Write it down, take a picture…i don’t give a f@#k

    YO JOE!
    GO BUCS! ! !

  8. I know why Says:

To me watching that is much more concerning on our LT Smih who is still completely suspect as a starter. As much as I am happy for Spence. Smith is more critical and I’ve seen this way to much from him. I hope our 2nd round pick steps up

  9. Evo Says:

Smith should be moved to LG. I understand great LT’s don’t fall out of the sky but he gets beat a little to much. I know it’s practice. But he didn’t even seem to care he got beat.

The joint practice videos will tell alot about where our team is at. Can’t wait to see those.

  10. The Buc Realist Says:

Wow, I have not seen anyone freeze like that since coach my scheme was asked at half-time if he was going to make adjustments!!!!!!

  11. grafikdetail Says:

seems every time i watch these vids it’s like 3 or 4 guys are bringing the pressure… good to see… waiting for Thursday nite like its Christmas

  12. BigHogHaynes Says:

LOVIE had nothing to do itch that! That’s a Licth pick! Ha!

  13. Dislocatedbucsfan Says:

That’s what they call a lookout block…. Losing a lot of confidence in a player whom I thought was shaky at best last year.

  14. BigHogHaynes Says:

Donovan looks like he’s line up off the line of scrimmage! 10 sacks Spence… This new Defence should elevate you to a rooki record breaking season!

  15. McClorasMaddenDaddy210 Says:

    #realtalk
Maybe Donovan should talk/seek help from coach Hayes also. Seriously…

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

What we really don’t know and won’t know until we play other teams is….Is Spence that good…..or is Smith that bad?…….It’s probably a combination of the two.

  17. Buc1987 Says:

Okay I kept watching the video over and over. That’s how impressed I am with Spence. It’s just practice, but I was very pleased when they drafted him after crying about DE DE DE for the last 3 years. One of the times I watched the video, the video slowed down just as he made his move by Smith. After that I really, really, really like this kid even more.

  18. Buc1987 Says:

Realist that’s funny right there….I don’t care who you are.

  19. dusthty rhothdes Says:

Good way to get mike glennon to be the bucs qb this year WOW

  20. tnew Says:

Spence is that good. Really go watch his tape. I was elated when he made it past Carolina. I was terrified of this matchup twice a year. The biggest thing is his get off is so quick. Then he is so strong is small space.

  21. tmaxcon Says:

I see WR, LT and DT next draft

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

Now do it in a REAL game..that counts. And do it consistently. After all, its like a B-ball player once said,..Its just..practice.

  23. iamkingsu Says:

Swap 6’9 and Donovan smith immediately

  24. iamkingsu Says:

That’s Winston’s blindside we’re talking about here. We got Von Miller, ware, Ray, Mack, chandler jones and those are just the quick ones off the edge. Then there’s the KC duo, Robert Quinn etc.

  25. Joe Says:

Smith should be moved to LG.

    smh

Might as well get this out of your mind now because it is as likely to happen as Joe is of bedding Rachel Watson. So should GMC be moved to defensive end because Ali Marpet owned him a couple of times in a training camp practice? C’mon.

  26. Joe Says:

I see WR, LT and DT next draft

    Might need new glasses.

  27. The Other Side of the Coin Says:

Payback comes on a run play to that side. Smith will mall Spence and open a big hole while Spence looks up at Martin’s cleats as they stomp down on his chest.

  28. salish_seamonster Says:

Show people 15 seconds of training camp and they’re willing to dump our starting LT. We want Spence to win some of these reps don’t we??? Donovan Smith will be fine.

  29. Buc1987 Says:

I see WR and Safety in the next draft. Possibly oline along the right side for youth.

  30. tmaxcon Says:

    Joe,

i see fine thank you… wr has no depth and little quality, DT are fragile top 3 all coming off injuries and have history of not being able to play full seasons. I like Donavon Smith but not at lt… i stand by lt, wr and dt next draft unless smith magically gets better at pass protection. Can’t put the most important bucanneer in team history jameis Winston at risk on his blund side. Smith can be great just not at lt.

  31. SoCoBucsFan Says:

Smith is clearly off balance because he’s worried about Spawn’s speed on the edge. Not only is he off the ball more but he’s so focused on trying to ride out Spawn to the outside that he has his hips opened way too much. Making it easy to go with the inside move. He got outplayed. But the OLis one unit and one thing I could say is if the LG didn’t have his back turned, he could’ve passed the DT onto the center and helped with the inside move. I’m not saying that Smith didn’t eff up because he did. I remembered getting ripped a new for plays like that one, so I can only imagine what he got from the coaches.

I’m just saying that if there was a blitz between LG and LT JW3 would’ve been demolished. If it was me, I would say the left side could’ve done much better.

  32. Slowbucs813 Says:

Great video and great work Joe. Based on what you see so far what do you think would be postions of need next year in the draft?

  33. jason mobsby Says:

I saw Smith a few times in public during the off season. He is a huge guy however he looked very out of shape. Very upsetting to see someone so gifted clearly lacking drive.

  34. HolyBuc Says:

Remember you don’t know the line call and that’s Evan Smith playing LG. Donovan sure looks like he is expecting help inside and he has the outside. The fact that he didn’t even try to get back in the play looks like a blown assignment from one of the Smith’s.

  35. salish_seamonster Says:

Draft talk can wait. Needs change quite a bit after a full season is played.

  36. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

Obviously I’m not in the huddle and don’t know protection schemes but to me it just looked like a perfectly timed and perfectly placed punch of DS’ hands. Just a perfect play by spence. Don’t forget our LT is still a pup, too. .
