Dirk Koetter, Roy Cummings And $100.00

August 18th, 2016

cashBucs head coach Dirk Koetter despises hearing media ask him questions about fights in practice, especially when it’s a bunch of pushing and shoving.

Today, Koetter put his money where his mouth his.

Under the searing Jacksonville sun, Koetter approached his post-practice news conference on the field with a clear agenda. He didn’t want to hear questions about the on-field dustup between some Bucs and some Jags that amounted to nothing.

In fact, Koetter offered $100 to the first reporter to not ask him about a fight.

Veteran beat writer Roy Cummings, who is now covering training camp for WDAE-AM, stepped up quickly with a question.

“I need the money. You might have heard. Somebody shut down the [Tampa] Tribune.” Cummings told Joe afterwards.

Later in the news conference, Cummings asked Koetter about the mini-skirmish, and Koetter quipped that it would cost him $50.00.

Nice! I like coach bc he cracks me up.

  4. James Walker Says:

Haven’t seen such personality at HC since Gruden. Koetter has all the swagger and confidence, but doesn’t make excuses and is more quick-witted.

  5. Mike Johnson Says:

Koetter is all smiles for now. How sweet and wonderful. If he has not won 3 or 4 games by midseason? Thems smiles gonna turn to frowns. What will happen to the Wit..then? Better win Golden boy.

Mike Johnson is there a reason you anticipate Koetter to fail? When you look at the roster, why wouldn’t people expect this team to be competetive. There is talent at every position group. There are three all pro’s! Are you just skeptical? Let’s be real here, Koetter is a breathe of fresh air. It just got so tiring when past head coaches would beat around the bush with ambigous cliches, in particular Lovie and Rah. It makes losing a little more bearable when the fans intelligence isn’t being insulted.
