Red Zone Efficiency

Need points.

If you get Dirk Koetter off to the side as he walks off the practice fields of One Buc Palace, or if you get a rare chance to talk to America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, or members of the Bucs offense, and ask them to identify their season goal, the first thing out of their mouths will be “score points.”

The topic “win games” is a very close second.

Broadcasting live from One Buc Palace yesterday was NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. He insisted Koetter told him a main goal of the offense is to improve red zone efficiency, which in turn leads to more points.

“One of the areas Dirk Koetter wants to work with Jameis Winston on is the red zone,” Garafolo said. “‘That’s one area we want to get a lot better as a group — certainly Jameis in particular. We just weren’t that good,’ Koetter said.

“The [Bucs] were actually 22nd in the league in touchdown efficiency in the red zone. They want to make sure they are making better decisions down there leading this team to more touchdowns instead of field goals.”

If you click the video link above, Garafolo also has more information on the J.R. Sweezy injury status. Garafolo seems to imply the hang-wringing by Bucs fans is terribly overblown and that “Sweezy’s camp” seems to have a history of milking the drama out of injuries.

Oh no please no positive insights when it comes to Sweezy,I rather see some posters revel in the pessimism they normally spew on the regular.

    @Nos-Bos

The negativity is out of control around here!!!! In 36hrs I hope that most will follow my lead and focus on what the 2016 Bucs Football season has to offer us!!! Let us hope the sheep do not try to start a stampede when just a fumble happens in a preseason game!!!!!LOL

36 Hrs and the Bucs hit the field!!!! The Question then will be, Who is a Buccaneers Fan!!!! Who will here will walk around town with their Bucs Gear spreading the good word of how it is starting to come together!!!!! Who will tell their transplant neighbors who root for other teams that WE are Coming for you this year!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Score points – win games. Sounds like a pretty straight forward directive. Make it so Dirk Koetter.

“The negativity is out of control around here!!!!”

Says the biggest spewer of negativity this site has known for the last 2 years.
    LOL.
In the words of Larry the Cable Guy – “I don’t care who ya are – That there’s funny”

  7. The Other Side of the Coin Says:

You’re so right Pickgrin. And he’ll be one of the first to run for the downer doorway at the first sign of trouble. Watch for it.

  8. DemBoyzFromDaBay727 Says:

I think the bucs will become of the better redzone teams this year. No excuse why they weren’t last year. They have all the right weapons to be a dangerous team down there. ASJ, Jax, Evans. All those guys are built for perfect for redzone targets. We left alot of points on the field last year, but now that this offense has had a year to get in sync together and become more intuned I expect big things from them not only as a rz team but all together. There’s no way Evans ends up with less than 5 TD’S again and ASJ is poised to have a breakout year imo as well. Wich all means more TD’s. Not to mention all the TD’S that Dougy got robbed of last year, you can call it what u want, I think it was more of bad luck than any thing. Skys the limit for this offense. Let’s show em what were capable of.

  9. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Pickgrin you took my words exactly! The biggest purveyor of negativity up here talks about it being out of control. Ain’t that the pot calling the kettle black? Demboyz of course it would help if Dougie was a touch faster but llok at all the big runs he got caught from behind. If guys woukd have blocked just a little longer he would have had at least 4 more tds.

    DemBoyz

You forgot to mention Chuck Sims!! Whether it be the run or the screen passes I think he’s gonna get a lot more chances in the red zone and Im excited about it

  11. 813bucboi Says:

@realist has 36hrs to load up on excuses for this season….GO BUCS!!!

  12. Lord Cornelius Says:

I think it’s realistic to hope for a top 10-16 scoring offense and top 10-16 scoring defense. That would be a competitive team pushing for the playoffs. Then add another injection of talent to the roster and go for top 5-10 / top 5-10 / SB contender for rest of Jameis’ career

  13. Buc1987 Says:

813bucboi…lol that’s not possible. I’ve never seen Realist so excited for a season to start.

NOS…I hear what you’re saying and I hope we don’t have Lovie’s Lovers come in here all season long if the Bucs lose a game or screw up a defensive assignment and tell us we should have kept him.

    Somehow I see that happening.

  14. Fsuking Says:

#2 scoring offense is what I see. Pittsburg is the only team with the kind of offensive firepower that we have. If our big receivers play on Sunday’s and ASJ pulls his head out of his ass, we will be fine. I think a huge reason why we couldn’t score last year is defending teams blanketing Mike Evans in the redzone, leaving DD and Adam Humphries also blanketed in single man coverage… You know, because they suck. Poor Cameron Brate was the only one who could get open, and that’s a lot of responsibility for a first year starter who isn’t quite as strong or fast as most other TEs

  15. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Buc1987

But you know that the sheep will!!!! That is why I have been hammering away how bad his reign was!!!! How terrible his 2 years of embarrassment was!!!! There were many that just said “move on” and that is “last year”!!!! But know!!!! I was putting up the wall to the sheep!!! so they cannot come in and revise history, as if the Incompetent one was about to break out!!!!!!!!

The Realist Says: Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men!!!!! Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Tampabaybucfan??? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Coach my scheme, and you curse the Animosity Amigos. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Coach my scheme’s Firing, while tragic, probably saved Wins. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves WIns. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you Realist, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a Keyboard, and make a post!!!!!! Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. feelthepewterpower Says:

Wait a second, Sweezy isn’t hurt after all and is milking it???? Stay tuned…Days of our Lives will be right back!

  17. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

😂😂😂😂😂 Ha ha ha Realist that is quite humorous! Sorry son you don’t provide freedom for my mind it’s already freed. I’m not one of your so called sheep or a Lovie apologist or Lover or any of that I had wanted to see what he would do next year but when he got erased I was happy. You’d have to be like deaf blind and dumb to think Lovie is a bad coach. Now I wait to see what yall will say if his results are no different from Lovies.

  18. bee Says:

Realist…I’m only in this site to read your comments. Lmao!

  19. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Oops my bad that was supposed to say that Lovie was a good coach. I do admit he’s a poor coach.
