“One Team”

August 3rd, 2016
Live this morning on NFL Network.

Live this morning on NFL Network.

Yes, NFL Network was at One Buc Palace today broadcasting live from Bucs training camp.

Obviously, one highlight was a live interview with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, after practice.

It was a cool interview and NFL Network analyst Charley Casserly pinned down Jameis on serious Xs and Os back-and-forth. Joe will have that later.

Near the end of the interview, about 25 fans, plus cops and security, were hanging around near the media tent where Jameis was interviewed. NFL Network co-host Rhett Lewis pulled a cheesy stunt where he jump-started the few fans hanging around to launch a “Jameis… JameisJameis…” chant. The fans happily obliged.

Initially, Jameis broke out into a big, wide smile, but just as quickly he shook his head back and forth as if to say “no,” and began pumping his left fist saying, “Tampa… Bay… Tampa… Bay… ” and the fans quickly changed their cheers and played along.

Once the fans started yelling “Tampa… Bay… ” Jameis said to the viewing audience, “One team; one heartbeat around here.”

It all starts at the 9:20 mark here.

The way people hollered and screamed about Jameis before he was drafted and what a mistake it would be to select him — yes, Joe is looking right at you, Father Dungy! — man oh man, what a monster he turned out to be!

hope they show that on air

  2. Dewey Selmon Says:

Watched the whole thing. Jameis knows what to say, when to say it, and give love to other folks at the same time. Oh, he is a pretty good qb also.

  3. Joe Says:

hope they show that on air

They did. Twice so far. Live and a rebroadcast.

  4. LifeOfABucFan Says:

NFL Network has been Bucs all day..and some other team..lol…

Nice to see all the Kwon love on the air today..and it’s Kwon’s 22nd birthday…

I worry about only one thing with Jameis – improving accuracy and avoiding those slow starts in games. Too many times he was 2 for 8 (or something like that) in the first quarter. He’s gotta get dialed in and can’t have these bad stretches if he wants to be elite.

Would love to see him start a game like he did when he was inserted into the Pro Bowl. Dude was slinging it and moving the ball.

    Yes, totally understand: Pro Bowl.

  7. Bucsfanman Says:

Count me as “converted”! Can I get an amen?!

  8. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Amen Bucsfanman Amen..you got two!

  9. Bradysan Says:

Dude. America’s quarterback? Are the Rewskies doing your drug testing now?

  10. JMN Says:

Dungy was definitely pushing his boy Mariota so his advice was somewhat biased. I’m glad the Bucs did not listen!

Ah, someone is new to JoeBucsFan.com. Welcome and feel free to use Joe’s free archives!

Had to take that shot at Dungy, couldn’t do a side step like jameis and deflect to the team concept. I thought what jameis did was absolutely awesome as was the entire interview. It wouldn’t be so bad if you look and see how Dungy has changed his tune and become a believer as many others had to become. wonder if we would have had America’s QB if we would’ve drafted Johnny Football as some suggested. But I do give props to the Joe’s for all the great Bucs info

  13. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    LOL @ Joe!

I think on HIS website, he’s allowed to say anything..especially when it’s the TRUTH!!

  14. Dreambig Says:

Winston is a class act! Thats why at the end of the day, he will be better than Newton. Its all about the team. No superman poses here! Wins with class, loses with class!

  15. pick6 Says:

charlie casserly is so hard to watch

  16. Joe Says:

Had to take that shot at Dungy

    Shot? Changed his tune?

Nice rear-view mirror speaking. What if the Bucs had caved to Dungy who was sticking his nose where it didn’t belong? He did his best to Pearl Harbor the Bucs picking Jameis. Thank God Lovie didn’t listen!

For as long as this site is up and as long as Jameis is playing (well) for the Bucs, Joe will never forget how that overrated failed former Bucs coach did his best to trainwreck what looks to be the best quarterback this team ever had.

(Dungy evaluating quarterbacks by the way is an absolute scream!)

FYI: People like to say Dungy couldn’t win it all here because he had Dilfer at quarterback. 1) He easily could have gotten a different quarterback and a different offensive system. 2) Brian Billick (hahahaha) won a Super Bowl with Dilfer so what does that say about Dungy?

Dude got to as many Super Bowls as Barry Switzer and needed arguably the best quarterback in NFL history to do so. smh

  17. DB55 Says:

Oh by the way guess who the def line and lb coach was on that 2000 Ravens team.

  18. Bucsfaninchina Says:

Since we are talking about it, someone did the lord’s work and put together a cut-up of Billick’s encouragement for Trent in the Super Bowl

  19. feelthepewterpower Says:

Joe, I am glad we didn’t take Johnny Manziel 😉

  20. Buccaneers Says:

    Tell us DB55

  21. feelthepewterpower Says:

Dungy picked Mariota because his son played for Oregon and he was biased. If he says the Buccs choose Winston, it’s sort of a slap to Mariota who he knows personally. I don’t hold that against Dungy.

  22. Buccaneers Says:

Who gives a cr@p what Dungy said. Last year before the draft I watched a ton of coverage about football trying to learn all I could about Jameis and Mariota. Thre were lots of good anaylist who had a lot of great footage and breakdowns of both QBs. Thre wre also a ton of analysists who had nothing more then a opinion which many werent even based on theactual play of the QBs……..those opinions were basically worthles and Dungy fel into that group.

  23. unbelievable Says:

Doesn’t matter cuz we got jaboo.

How can you not f@cking love this?!?

His attitude and mentality could not be more perfect for a QB, especially a young one on a below average team (hoping that changes this year).

  24. BigHogHaynes Says:

Jameis is here because of LOVIE simple as that! Now Joe if you insert your name for Dungy and Mariota for Jameis and take out all tha Super Bowl stuff and your looking at THE MAN IN THE MIRROR! SMDH!

  25. Joe Says:

Jameis is here because of LOVIE simple as that

    True.

  26. rrsrq Says:

I think Dirk wanted MM also, but Lovie didn’t hear him either, simple as that

  27. Buc1987 Says:

    Because Lovie sucked SOOOOOOOOOOOO bad!

  28. Buc1987 Says:

Thank you Lovely Smith for sucking so bad we got this gift from the football gods.

    Go Noles!

  29. Eric Says:

Dungy masterminded one of the best defensive runs in league history. And got us back to playoffs and Super Bowll contention after 15 years of futility.

How anyone can criticize Tony after witnessing the last six years of total embarrassment amazes me.

But when you nickname a total failure and hack as a rock star perhaps it is explainable.

  30. Buccaneers Says:

In favor of Eric adding in his two cents more often.

  31. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I like the law of attraction part of the video!

  32. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I love how he didn’t want the crowd cheering for him. Instead he wanted them cheering for the team.

This kid really is impressing me.

  33. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Eric Says
    “…after 15 years of futility.”

Actually…we’d had 22 years of losing seasons before Dungy.

  34. HIRE JIMBO Says:

Hey guys, just food for thought. DeAndre Hopkins and the Texans relationship is being described as “toxic”. And Jameis and him get along really well, maybe he could be coming to the bucs in the near future.

  35. Ndog Says:

Correction we didn’t start winning until Malcom Glazer bought this team. Dungy did a nice job but it was the drafting of Brooks, Sapp, and Lynch that got this team turned around first then Dungy pointend them in the right direction but never forget it all started with Malcom Glazer.

  36. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Licht is on record in 2014 wanting Winston. This” Lovie was the first one on Winstons jock” nonsense has to stop. Lovie didn’t have to convince Licht one bit. If Licht had full control, Winston would STILL be a Buc today.

  37. Joe Says:

In favor of Eric adding in his two cents more often.

Yeah, he’s been hiding. C’mon Eric, it’s safe. Schiano sold his house in Tampa. 🙂

  38. Buc1987 Says:

BuccaneEric75…lol actually Eric although I’m just a fan. I was the first one on “Winston’s jock” back in 2013. 🙂

  39. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Very true, 87, very true. You’re the president of the JW fan club!
