Coach got this team headed in the right direction I believe the defense will be terrorizing offense and the O with America quarterback will get us not just one super bowl but multi so I got total confidence

  2. Pickgrin Says:

Little Confidence and No Confidence combining for 1.78% = Mike Johnson and Big Hog already voted.

  3. Bucwylde Says:

    LOL @ Pickgrin.

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

I voted “totally confident” !!! As I am sure most of the players on the roster would as well!!!! Contrary to what some are drumming up as “pressure” this coach will get 4 years!!! There is a reason his contract was for 5!!!! We are headed in the right direction and This coach will have time to do it right if needed!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Clodhopper Says:

I didn’t vote, because I’m unsure. There’s too many question marks right now for me. Being cautious with the bodies. No goal-line work. Koetter calling plays but not being OC, for examples. Are these things good or bad? I dont know. I’m no expert in the human body or the heat and humidity of Tampa or the ins and outs of NFL play-calling.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

He gets a very confident from me if & until he proves otherwise.

I really like his candor and pressers….no coy/hidden messages.

  7. TheShaz Says:

I’m too lazy to go thru the archives. I bet Joe had the same poll 3 years ago with Lovie.

Right now I really like Kotter’s candor with the local media. I am personally rooting for him to be successful. But if he is not successful I dare say that poll will be reversed very quickly.

I want the offense to build on its success of last year and score more points.
I want the defense to be on a different level from their performance last year.
Aroyo better make those kicks and please find someone to return punts & kicks.

And finally……penalties. Last Preseason game did not bode well for that.

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

Clodhopper.. imagine rain in the air and it’s not raining and a giant heat globe shooting out fire, you’ll get the feel. Sweating is the Florida pastime. Wash you hair, it’s dirty the next day. AC is for wimps.

  9. DallasBuc Says:

Very confident here. The difference in coaching competence is overwhelming up to this point but the results in the W/L column are the only thing that matters. Would be nice to see us compete week in and week out.

  10. LargoBuc Says:

Confident, but if my gut feeling is correct, that will be going up by October.

  11. D-Rome Says:

Everyone loves the head coach when his record is 0-0. I hope the team is successful.

Let’s all hope and pray Marcus Arroyo stays off an NFL football field for a very long time.

I think you meant Roberto Aguayo.

  15. DB55 Says:

Everything Koetter is doing reminds me of Schiano therefore I’m confident that if we had kept Schiano we’d be a playoff team by now.

  16. celly Says:

    I voted CONFIDENT.

I can’t, in good conscience, go higher than that for a rookie head coach who has yet to play a regular season game yet.

  17. BucFan20 Says:

    I voted Confident.

First time NFL Head Coach. Has not selected the team yet nor been under NFL Head Coach pressure. Preseason games show nothing anyway. Wait until the real bullets fly.

  18. unbelievable Says:

I voted very confident because it seems ALL the players are really buying into the new coaching staff. That plus the leadership of JW, Kwon, McDonald, Ayers and GMC looks to be setting up greatness. Color me cautiously optimistic.

That said, I do have some concerns like Clod.

Most importantly, the lack of hitting and tackling. I like the other things Koetter is doing to keep guys fresh (morning practices, night walk throughs, etc.) but tackling is an art. Toughness is achieved by battling in the trenches and the worst thing that could happen would be for our guys to lose those fundamentals. These joint practices should mitigate that, but we need our guys to go HAM. All the time.

  19. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

“Everything Koetter is doing reminds me of Schiano therefore I’m confident that if we had kept Schiano we’d be a playoff team by now”

And here I thought I was the only one who was seeing this, agreed DB55. This is so why I voted ‘confident’ in the poll (though my ‘gut feeling’ is very confident my head says best to temper expectations for a first time NFL HC…especially in a market that likes to run coaches out with inflammatory billboards if they don’t kiss the ring of local media types). Go Dirk! Go Bucs!

  20. TheShaz Says:

    D-Rome: You got me.

Beats having to spell Donald “Iggy” Igwebuike

  21. The bucfan 88 Says:

I agree about schiano when it comes to the style but coaching wise he reminds me of Bruce Arians the issue with schiano he wanted to bench j-fro for MG8 who was not ready and he kept harping about bowers is better than Michael Bennett ppl I don’t see why u thought that man was a great coach I’m still totally confident

  22. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Sorry Schiano lovers but in truth Greg isn’t talented enough to even be a coach on this team. The Peter Principle holds true and Greg has his dream job…DC for a team with a clear talent advantage every week they line up except for 2 or 3 games.

If Greg is really lucky politics will prevail and when Urban decides to cash in with the AD position perhaps Greg will “inherit” the OSU head coaching job. Again given the tradition and talent level I think he could handle it.

Schiano is not smart enough nor creative or imaginative enough to coach in a league where teams have relatively equal talent.

Koetter is a far better coach…Smitty is a far better coach…Jay Hayes is a better coach…Mark Duffner is a better coach and now it appears that Todd Monken is a better coach.

I’m totally confident in this entire group. All of these guys could have gone somewhere else…they are here because they sense what Pat Kirwan senses…and of course because of #3!!!

  23. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

C’mon St Pete…I mean I’ll give you Mike Smith and (hopefully) Koetter being better coaches, but the rest you listed being better coaches!? GS is Bucs history, so not worth making much out of now, but I’ll leave it as any HC with JW3 as their QB and Mike Smith as their DC has a far better chance of succeeding than a HC stuck with JF5 (or forced to start a rookie MG8 in week 5 because of starting QB meltdown) as QB and Bill Sheridan as DC.

  24. unbelievable Says:

    Agreed St. Pete

Other than attention to detail, I’m not seeing too many similarities between Koetter and Schiano. Koetter and Smitty are flexibile, Schiano was not.

Remember when Glennon was thriving in the no huddle? Schiano abandoned it because they didn’t practice it enough that week. Still smdh. Some of the players like Schiano, some of them hated him. It appears most all the players are buying into Koetter. Whether that translates into wins remains to be seen, but I feel good about it.

Honestly feel like this is the most comprehensive and experienced coaching staff we’ve had in a decade at least.

  25. Pickgrin Says:

I agree SPBF. And hopefully in about a dozen years – NFL analysts will be talking about the “Dirk Koetter Coaching Tree”. The list of successful NFL head coaches who came through the Buccaneers organization.

  26. Dreambig Says:

Koetter’s and Jameis’s future are linked. Jameis + Koetter + M.Smith and the rest of the coaching staff = Very confident.

  27. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Dreambig that’s exactly why I voted very confident. He hit the QB lottery wit Famous.

  28. Mike Johnson Says:

I’ll be confident when Koetter can get us to 9-7 or better. I am confident the Bucs will play 16 games this season. Their record is yet..to be determined. I’ll cast my vote of this, cat in the hat confidence..only after I see the results. Win 1st, praises later. Not the reverse.

  29. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Oh that’s easy MJ just stay tuned..

  30. Buccfan37 Says:

I agree with DB55, give Schiano Lovies two years and the Bucs would have produced a winning record by now.

  31. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Pickgrin

A Koetter coaching tree would be a cool thing for sure. I wonder though if he’ll get any credit for Smitty…or Jay Hayes…one thing that impresses me about Koetter, among the many things..is that he’s comfortable enough in his own skin to surround himself with successful veteran coaches.

  32. unbelievable Says:

Especially considering how he was hired (veteran coordinator replacing his HC who hired him)

  33. Buc1987 Says:
