Kirwan Is Proud Of America

It may not have yet been the Fourth of July, but Pat Kirwan was in a patriotic mood.

The co-host of the best damned NFL radio show in the land, “Movin’ the Chains,” heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, took to his weekday microphone last week and went all in on America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

While Kirwan noted Jameis’ skill set, he admitted he was still skeptical of Jameis due to juvenile stunts in college that earned Jameis a lot of notoriety, but for all the wrong reasons.

However, Kirwan, a former Jets personnel chief and linebackers coach, believes Jameis has answered all questions from the doubters and believes Jameis is on the cusp of big things in the NFL, so he said last week.

“You hit it on the quarterback,” Kirwan said in response to an e-mail asking for his Bucs thoughts. “Barring some major setback, your quarterback is finally here.

“[Jameis] came with a lot of controversial opinions on him. He has done nothing but do the job and work at it. I remember after the season I said my hope for that kid is that I don’t hear from him all offseason. I don’t want to see him in commercials. I don’t want to see him out in L.A. at some celebrity things. I don’t want to see him do anything but working and all I have heard is that is what he is.

“He’s a grinder. And he is pushing himself towards being the best he can be.”

Where is Kirwan getting this inside information from? Well, Joe isn’t sure but he can connect the dots. Kirwan, among many other NFL insiders, is very tight with Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith.

Now Joe’s not saying Smith is tipping off Kirwan, but it is a helluva good guess.

Regardless, Kirwan is getting this information from an NFL insider he trusts, which speaks to how impressed the Bucs must be in Jameis, if that is the talk leaking from within the walls of One Buc Palace.

My vote is that we put Jameis’ face on the quarter. GW doesn’t need the quarter and the dollar bill. Let’s give one of them to the man that has galvanized the tired and huddled masses of the Buccaneers faithful.

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

Since the quarter is worth a penny, put Winston’s face on the penny. Change the other part to “In Jameis We Trust”. Lincoln already has the $5. Washinton wasn’t even the first president, he was the first masonic president.

I like Kirwan, he one of the few that I listen too. Your not the only one that was proven wrong pat, he’s shown EVERYONE they were wrong a out him and his off field problems. He’s done nothing but work his @$$ off to get better. We could not ask for more from our QB. I’m so proud to call him our QB.

The future of the franchise = Jameis Wins-a-ton

What inside information are you talking about? These guys know nothing about the Bucs outside of what is in the paper or local TV stations. I mean look how clueless he was about Jameis, these people just state the obvious once it has happened. I mean anyone on this message board who have answered that question the exact same way he did. I can’t stand any national talk on the Bucs as all they say is the same crap we’ve know about for 3-4 months. All they know about are the Cowboys, Patriots, Steelers, or whatever the hot story is.

Sadly, being a seasoned Bucs fan, I keep waiting for something bad to happen to Jameis. I’ve been conditioned to have these feelings.
In the back of my mind though, I can’t help but hope beyond hope that we finally have something good starting and we might no longer be the rented mule of the NFL.
