“He’s Got Juice”

July 30th, 2016
High praise from Bucs senior offensive lineman.

High praise from Bucs’ senior offensive lineman.

So yesterday, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter all but told fans they must see defensive end/outside linebacker Noah Spence in pads.

Sunday, the Bucs break out the pads.

So Joe decided to talk to a Bucs veteran who has seen his share of defensive ends in his time, Demar Dotson. If someone was blowing too much smoke up a rookie’s tailpipe, Joe figured Dotson would set Joe straight.

So Joe asked Dotson for his honest opinion of Spence. In short, Dotson believes the Bucs are sitting on a diamond ready to be polished.

“He has a lot of juice, man,” Dotson said of Spence. “He comes off the ball and is a guy who is going to keep getting better. He has good moves. He is going to keep working.

“For a rookie coming in right now, he’s kind of hard to stop. He is really quick off the edge and he can beat you inside. He has a good d-line coach that will only get him better. Sky is the limit for him.”

You can now call Joe sold. Now Joe is just waiting for the eye test.

Consider Joe geeked for Spence. Koetter talked him up; Dotson talked him up and some players Joe spoke with in confidence think Spence will soon be unleashed.

Joe is starting to get a hunch that the marriage of defensive line coach Jay Hayes and Spence will make for blissful Sunday afternoons for Bucs fans.

And what a marriage it will be!!!!!!!!!!

  2. tmaxcon Says:

this isgreat news… spence will raise the play of the entire dline…

  3. SB with Jameis Says:

    As Nole crowned him…….SPAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I am Stoked!

  4. Buccfan37 Says:

Sounds like a double team will be needed to slow Spence down. Go get him LVD.

  5. SB with Jameis Says:

If this kid “gets it” after his F-ups that cost him First round status and uses that as motivation then Watch Out!

  6. SOEbuc Says:

If all this talk turns out not to be smoke and Noah turns into a speed demon god for us off the edge, oh my goodness what a glorious sight it will be with him lined up next to GMC.

  7. Buccaneers Says:

What was more embarassing last year? The fact that teams were calling 25 yards outs on 3rd and long or the fact that they were successful on these plays?

I dont know if Spence will be able to get consistent pressure like he did in college but at the minimum he needs to get to the QB on third and longs. I dont care if he gets no sacks but we desperately need somebody to force the QB to have to get rid of the ball quicker…….Combine that and mix in a secondary that has ability and the other coaches will have to call underneath routes like they do for every other team.

Please Noah, please help spare us fans from the shamefulness embarassment of a defense that cant even stop 3rd and longs. I really dont think thats asking too much.

  8. Owlykat Says:

Spence is the real deal and has a very high ceiling and with him and McCoy side by side the Offence cannot double team both so they will have to pick their poison.

  9. jb Says:

Sorry, but I have to see it to believe it.

  10. bucfan593 Says:

I remember hearing the same thing about Clayborn. I’m not trying to be a downer, I want to be excited but I need to see results!

  11. gotbbucs Says:

If nothing else, get the QB off his mark and moving. Nothing is more discouraging than seeing a clean pocket on 3rd down. If other teams are going to convert a 3rd down, at least make them work for it.
I have no idea if Spence will be good or not, but the scheme and call need to be good none the less. There’s ways to get pressure on QBs wit or without 15 sack guys on the team.

  12. Old Buc Fan Says:

It sure does sound good! Spawn, a better name than I could think of. I am in agreement with this hype.

  13. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Lightning has struck again my friends. Sapp fell in our laps because of an issue while in school. Now Spawn has fallen into our laps because of an issue while in school. Let’s put it in perspective, were it not for his troubles this young man might have been the first player selected in this past draft considering the value of elite pass rushing on the NFL level. I mean Goff has a losing record on the colegiate level,Wentz played his ball where??? Bosa! Has he even made it to camp yet???

  14. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

593 there is no comparison between clayburn and Spawn. Find some film of Spawn in high school,he looks super polished on that level. There is a rare small percentage of humans born to pass rush. This young man appears to fit-the- build.

  15. tmaxcon Says:

if I maybe so bold to steal a line from The Bucs Realist

Adrian Slowburn never had the speed / quickness that Spawn has. There is no comparison in there game at all.

Spawn is clearly driven. Best wishes young man. it will be nice to have a pass rusher.

  16. RustyRhinos Says:

Mr. Spence is so fast he is a blur in his own photo.

Very excited tomorrow to see our team go against each other with pads on. Bring it play after play!
    Go Bucs!

  17. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @SB with Jameis

Bingo! I think it’s clear Spence learned a great lesson from his OSU ouster.

Anybody who goes to Richmond Ky to play with EKU….then sends in drug tests which he paid for and shipped to NFL execs regularly is MOTIVATED.

Agree with Nole. This is like Sapp falling into our laps because of weed. Sapp worked out and Spence impresses me as a guy with a lot more character than WS.

This guy could be the steal of the draft. And the next best steal of the draft may be recognized in about five years after he has kicked some last second game winning FG’s in the playoffs.

  18. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    Exactly what St.Pete just said.

  19. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Also wanna add St.Pete you’ve been reminding us all summer not to sleep on Jac Smith. Today Joe noted Jac flashing his speed during practice today. My belief is Jac quietly feeling motivated by the presence of the rookie talent. 3rd and long will be whole lot more daunting of a task for oposing QBs this season.

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I agree with Bucfan37……..the speed of Spence will open things up for our LBs to blitz…..look for many more sacks from our LB corps.

  21. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Riffing on Nole and TBBF…there is a great synergy developing.

As Nole just mentioned I’m a big Jac Smith fan and he’s also going to benefit from Spence’s speed…GMC…Gholston…LVD…Ayers…there are a lot of guys to account for now and some of them have amazing first steps.

    I’m jacked!!!

  22. Buc1987 Says:

    Play with that chip Noah.

The kind that Jameis plays with.

  23. Buccaneers Says:

I like Jac Smith but the dude has some stamina issues. At least that’s what I saw last year…….Guy was sucking wind after every two plays it seemed like.

No doubt thought that he has some great moves coming off the edge. He also has a knack for stripping the ball loose which seems like is becoming an evolving skill in the league.

  24. Kevin Says:

Hopefully he doesnt try to put on too much of a show. Take it easy dont kill yourelf the first week of camp. Make it through the preseason then drop the hammer when it counts. I dont need to see him get carted off the training camp field vecause hes trying to impress too early. Please stay healthy spence we know whats coming. Thank god we are not the chargers fans right now talking about theyre overrated pass rusher holding out before hes ever even put shoulder pads on!!!

  25. Mike Johnson Says:

Hmmnnn..Not a single game played yet here you cheerleaders are..crowning Spence the 2nd coming of….Minute Maid! Talk about Hype?

  26. DB55 Says:

I saw 1 clip of Spawn today on an inside stunt and thought to myself Howard Jones does it better. I’m sure he doesn’t but my point is we finally have some competition and depth at DE. Amen n hallelujah

Spawn is super fast, Jac Smith is super fast, Davante Bond super duper fast, Casanova Mckenzie also super fast but more importantly these guys love to hit people.

  27. brandonbucsfan Says:

What Spence does with his career remains to be seen.
HOWEVER, one of the things he has going for him is the NEW BREED of role models he has on this team.
Jameis, David, Kwon, GMac to name a few. Much less he has possibly the best DL coach in the league

  28. Jbeachbuc Says:

    Please Lord, please, please, please…..

    We are so Due!!!!

  29. Buccfan37 Says:

Mike Johnson… the more cheerleaders the merrier. Not a single game played yet, still much enthusiasm felt. Minute Maid, that’s who does a shoddy job cleaning. Spence could be the 2nd coming of Tropicana Pure Premium.

  30. Pickgrin Says:

    Spence, GMC, Ayers, Jac Smith

There’s your 3rd down pass rush rotation.

I think we are gonna see some heat applied by the D-Line this year. It’s about damn time. I almost forgot what a legit Pewter pass rush looks like….

  31. Bob in Valrico Says:

8 or 9 D-lineman possible starters, is what Smith wants. Subbing somebody in now and then can keep our explosive guys fresh in fl. heat.

  32. Joe Says:

If Joe can add to the party:

Howard Jones flashed a lot today rushing passer. Yes, underwear football but Bucs think he is a sleeper.

  33. SB with Jameis Says:

    Thanks Joe. I am listening.

  34. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I’m thinking coach Hayes looking at Howard Jones thinking to himself-I can do some thangs wit this young man..
