Fixation On Jameis’ Weight

July 21st, 2016

Creepy obsession.

Man, oh man, Joe hasn’t seen this type of attention on someone’s body since Kate Upton first appeared on SI.com.

What is with this newfound national fetish for the weight of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston? Dude is a football player, not a male model. Either folks really hate baseball (losers) or soccer (smart) or are burned out about the non-basketball association (it should be abolished) but geez, the prattling about Jameis and his gut or lack thereof is unreal.

Twice already in the past three days, BSPN has pumped out videos from its talking heads slobbering over Jameis shedding pounds, as he frolicked with his girlfriend in the Turks and Caicos last week as seen on his Instagram account.

This obsession with Jameis’ weight is reaching kiddie porn levels. It wasn’t like Jameis was the next Jared Lorenzen.

Look, the dude had one of the best seasons for a rookie quarterback in NFL history. Only two rookies ever (Andrew Luck and Cam Newton) threw for more yards. And that was with Jameis carrying what some describe as an innertube around his belly from too many biscuits-and-gravy breakfasts and maybe a few too many chicken wings at night.

Joe is not one to fix something that is not broken, and Jameis sure as hell wasn’t broken. Joe doesn’t think a beer pouch or lack thereof has a damned thing at all to do with how one throws a football. Frankly, as many quarterback hits as Jameis took last year, he needed that extra insulation.

Would Jameis have been able to run over would-be tacklers against the Dixie Chicks last year for a key first down conversion gaining 19 yards if he was 30 pounds lighter? Joe doesn’t think so.

Maybe it is just Joe, but this obsession with Jameis’ weight the last week or so is really creepy. Guess this demonstrates the power of social media. Jameis has been slimmed down for months, but it took Jameis to post a picture of him and his cute girlfriend on a tropical beach to get the full attention of the Bristol Bunch.

Ah, life in the 21st Century! And folks actually wonder why Joe refers to Jameis as “America’s Quarterback.”

Where’s Buc1987!!! I think you need to remind that those who forgot and those that did not know, how busted up his ankle was from the 2014 college season. That’s is what lead to the heavier than usual JW3 that came to the Bucs last year!!! I wonder what his weight was from combine ( which he said then he was just starting to run) to when the Bucs played the last game!!!!

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

That pic looked more like an outertube than an innertube. He got himself in better shape because he was conscious that the extra belly fat was limiting his play. Big bellied Buc fans applaud you Joe for standing up for hyper extra waistline poundage.

  3. Buc1987 Says:

Realist…it could have been the ankle, but he looks to me like the type of body that will always have to workout to keep in shape and the pounds off.

I’m really not worried either way. Heavy or light.

  4. Pickgrin Says:

30 lbs??? wtf are you talking about Joe? Winston was 232 at the combine – maybe 240 during the season. So you are saying he’s 210 lbs now? C’mon man.

I doubt he has lost very many lbs at all overall. He has mostly just transformed fat into muscle.

  5. BuccaneEric75 Says:

A few more weeks, guys. A few more weeks!

  6. Abdominal Snowman Says:

I don’t know why but that picture reminds me of E.T.

  7. D-Rome Says:

Just so you know your body can’t transform fat into muscle. You can gain or lose muscle and you can gain or lose fat.

All that being said Jameis’s weight is irrelevant right now. It didn’t hinder him. In fact, Peyton and Eli Manning have sported “dad-bods” throughout most of their careers.

  8. BucFan20 Says:

Who cares. You wanted him to be Americas QB . So now he gets all the attention and all you can do is complain. Nobody is going to take him away from you. Relax!
Man this season can’t start fast enough!!

  9. phreakybucfan Says:

I think Joe’s obsession with the media’s obsession about Jameis’ weight is getting pretty obsessive.

  10. scott Says:

they just need something to talk about

  11. Bucsfanman Says:

It ain’t my baby! That’s all I’m saying!

  12. Sir clicks a lot Says:

I clicked the link because I thought there would be a picture of Kate Upton. I could care less about Jaboowaistline. A little disappointed in you Joe.

  13. Fsuking Says:

What is the Joes obsession with people’s obsession about Jameis’s weight? Why do you care that people care that Jameis cares about his body? It’s weird! And Jameis didn’t run over anyone against the Falcons. He bounced/rolled off, he can do that at any weight.

  14. 813bucboi Says:

yeah people making a bigger deal than it is….I actually think/believe jameis shed a lot of bad body fat in order to gain muscle strength….since muscle weighs more than fat, its very possible that jameis may look slimmer but could be around the same weight….looking at the back to Bessemer video, he doesn’t look like he lost 20pounds but he does look toned up….GO BUCS!!!!

  15. MonsGM Says:

Hey Joe NFL games are long and tough. If he was in better shape last year he would have been completing more passes late in games. It is natural for any person (even high level athletes) to forget or lose proper technique as they tire. Sloppiness rears its ugly head the more tired you get. Being more physically fit will help him maintain his footwork throughout the game. Maybe if he was in better shape he wouldn’t have needed to bounce off those Atlanta defenders (most of whom were not going 100%) he would have already been past them.

The man always gives 100% so if he is feeling better physically he will be able to accomplish more. You make points like my wife sometimes by pulling up singular situations that you feel draws you to a substansial conclusion. It’s the big picture you are missing brother.

  16. Bucsfaninchina Says:

I’ll tell you why this is such a big deal. The media that wrote Jameis off – primarily because he was black, debate me on this please – is now eating crow because he had one of the most impressive years EVER for any rookie QB, and now he is continuing to show he is a master of his craft, on and off the field. He will only continue to show next year why he will be one of the top names for the next 10 years, and more.

And let’s get real. That is not a flattering picture. I want my qb cut!!!!

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo has a chiseled body…..Pablo is not 6’4 like Haboo….but Pablo is a healthy 5’11″…….Pablo has an elongated arc like Hamus….but it looks much bigger on Pablo (guessing) than Hamus’ arc because of the height difference.
Pablo challenges Haboo to a table dance contest…Pablo thinks the Realist may even come up with at least a stingy tip for Hamus”!!!

  18. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Pablo

You want a tip!!!!!! Don’t buy grass from the Easter Bunny!!!! there is your tip!!!!!!

  19. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I think Pablo is the one giving Realist “the tip” while table dancing!😛

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

    @Realist

“Pablo knows you are speaking from experience”

  21. grafikdetail Says:

what pisses me off is some talking heads stating he was out of shape last year… and for the picture with the big belly he has a rope tied around his waist that’s makes it look worse than it really is… if you want a cut QB… brady quinn is still on the market

  22. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    grafikdetail, I completely agree.

  23. Mike Johnson Says:

Seems like the only person obsessed about Jameis period is YOU..there Joe.
    Many useless threads concerning him.

  24. SB with Jameis Says:

Lol TBBF and Realist!!! Thanks for the laughs after a long day’s work.

  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @SB with Jameis

Know you will be glued to the tube at 8pm your time…..to watch another one of the “hot” Trump women!!!

  26. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Seems to me a “beer pouch” made all the difference with Sean King, Joe. It matters.

What matters more if Jamesis’ commitment to doing things right.

  27. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Jameis’ father told the media Jameis lost 20 lbs. So yes, he did lose the weight. All that running we saw him doing with a parachute dragging behind did it for him.

  28. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Oboy.

Looking like GREG HARDY will be in training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As a member of the Jags.

  29. SB with Jameis Says:

You just scared me into spitting a bite of Pork Chop out of my mouth as I read your post Bonzai
Thank GOD he is with the Jags.

  30. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    lol…

…my only concern is that he’ll injure Jameis with his uncontrollable anger issues in camp.

  31. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Am I the only one who really, really wants this?

  32. Trubucfan22 Says:

So the bucs are finally getting some positive national press and the joes are upset? I guess they want to be the exclusive bucs media outlet. Don’t worry joe, espn isnt taking clicks away from your site.

  33. Joe Says:

brady quinn is still on the market

    LOL! 🙂

  34. MonsGM Says:

    Grafikdetail,

He was (relative to other elite athletes) out of shape last year. He went on the buffet circuit and then to draft preperation. Then on to learning his first NFL offense. He realized just how out of shape he was when he got to the pro bowl. If he wasn’t out of shape (again, compared to NFLers not ham and eggers) he wouldn’t have worked so hard to get in shape this offseason. In this respect I compare him to Tom Brady. He was out of shape (not pudgy like Jameis) when he came into the league and now he is extremely fit.

I have supported the Bucs taking Winston since we lost to the Saints in week 17 the season before. So I always looked at him being out of shape as a positive because his work ethic was already evident before the draft. It took him seeing other elite players and what they do, plus the time (which he never had before) he had this offseason to achieve this.

  35. James Walker Says:

I don’t care if he weighs 400lbs as long as he can sidestep the rush, move forward in the pocket and deliver the pass. I don’t want him rushing!
