“Biggest Heart I’ve Ever Seen”

A prominent teammate weighs in

A quick look at the Buccaneers’ offense shows the power brokers at One Buc Palace were happy with the status quo.

They brought back Doug Martin. They were content to stay thin at receiver. Logan Mankins retired but he was replaced by J.R. Sweezy as the rest of the offensive line remained in tact.

That represents a load of confidence in the playcaller and the quarterback. The Bucs expect organic growth on the back of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston. That reality is not lost of the longest standing member of the unit, Demar Dotson, the starting (for now) right tackle in his eighth season.

“On personnel, it’s basically the same guys. It’s led by our quarterback who has a heart, the biggest heart I’ve ever seen,” Dotson said. “We’re just trying to get behind that guy and take his leadership.”

Telling words there from Dotson, who played with Ronde Barber, Michael Bennett, Darrelle Revis, Davin Joseph, Donald Penn and many other Pro Bowlers.

It’s 100 percent Jameis’ team now, and even players are waiting to see how that materializes. Joe’s most eager to see what effect Jameis has on the Bucs’ defense, something he’s been working on.

Some need to remember!!!! Its a new mentality!! ITS a New Culture!!!!
    They are Fixing the Whys!!!!!!!!!

  2. tmaxcon Says:

I thank the football gods every morning for Jameis. The Bucs really dodged a bullet by not drafting the coach killer Mariota. Thank god the glazers did not listen to that fool dungy.

  3. 813bucboi Says:

@realist….every bucs fan remembers that press conference….in regards to “new culture”, games have to be played and won before you can declare the culture has changed….until then, we the fans, the bucs including jameis and dirk are still the same ol bottom feeder bucs….GO BUCS!!!!

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Always liked Dotson…..serviceable RT…..I hope they work something mutually beneficial out with him and extend him for a couple of years….perhaps let Cherilus go and develop Benenoch.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

Hamus “corazon gigante”……Pablo loves Haboo……makes Pablo not miss the days of Jeff Garcia as much”

  6. Alstottisthegreatest Says:

I finally believe this organization is heading in the right direction. I havent believed it since we won the super bowl. Others have believed that the coaches since chucky were the answer and I knew none of them were. Jameis will lead this team to championships!!!

  7. LakeLandBuc Says:

Dot has been in the NFL for 8 seasons as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he has NEVER played in a playoff game. I can understand why he’s saying that Jameis Winston has more heart than any player that he have played with? But he has been a teammate of GMC for 7 seasons, is he saying that GMC has no heart? I can understand Ronde Barber ( who was on the downside of his career) and I can understand Revis ( who were coming off an ACL). But 7 seasons with GMC and you say a rookie has shown more heart than him. WOW

  8. tmaxcon Says:

    LakeLandBuc

Nicely put. I was thinking the same thing about GMC.

  9. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

    @Pablo

    Wouldn’t that be “Heff”?

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Love & Warrick Dunn

    Speaking for Pablo…..

“Pablo stands corrected…….Heff Garcia…….Pablo is becoming more bilingual day-by-day…..”

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Done told ya’ll this is Jameis Winston’s team now.

Not Koetter’s, not Licht’s, and no not the Glazers either.

Gawd I wanted this kid sooo bad huh…

  12. Buc1987 Says:

Something magical is going to happen very soon. I can feel it in my bones.

Not to be confused with boner….that was before the 2015 draft. 🙂

  13. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

I dont take it as much as a negative about GMC. Jameis is on just an entirely different level. Not saying jameis is HOF material but as far as “Heart” I would think he might be in the top 5 I have ever seen play the game. Jameis has “IT”. Its hard to recall a player with so much charisma and so much heart. We are the luckiest team in the NFL to have been able to draft #1 and get Jaboo

  14. Dewey Selmon Says:

I believe if Jameis wasn’t a football player and I met him in the mall and talked to him for a couple minutes, I would come away impressed. That is saying something considering my opinion about most 22 year olds I talk to today.

  15. Dreambig Says:

Realist – Thanks for reposting that. I forgot how fired up Jameis was. Interesting that he said they need more guys like Humphries, who had a chip on his shoulder”. Someone asked where are they going to come from, and Jameis says “We are going to make them” How? By leadership. By me getting better! Holly Crap! Talk about Heart! You can just tell by his intensity that if your on that team you better not be slacking or goofing off else you will be answering to Jameis! Fricking love it!!!!!! Who went home yesterday for not being prepared? Bet Jameis is not a fan.

  16. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Amen Dewey…My son is 22 and I can’t seem to get more than one word a day out of him.

Bucs need to make sure Dot stays with us till he retires. Love that guy and pay the guy!

  17. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

James is just a guy who plays football pretty well. Let’s not canonize him unless he does something worthy, ok? “Biggest heart….”? Just hyperbole, nothing more. And you are correct Joe, not more heart than Ronde. He is obviously too young to have seen Lee Roy Selmon play. Shame.

  18. Bucsfanman Says:

You gotta like this kid! If he stays healthy and works on his craft we should be in pretty good shape.

  19. Buc1987 Says:

Jack…speak for yourself. Dotson’s not the first to say stuff like this about Jameis. Apparently this is the first you’ve read about it this type of stuff though.

Oh that’s right you’ve spoken many times for yourself…

    Jack Burton Mercer Says:
    May 12th, 2015 at 2:58 pm

“If he’s so smart and so prepared with the most awesome pro offense ever in college, the smartest QB ever to play, why did he throw 18 interceptions against COLLEGE defenses last year? In only 12 or13 games, mind you.”

    NEGATIVE about Jameis….

    Jack Burton Mercer Says:
    November 30th, 2015 at 10:32 am

“I don’t remember much of that talk. Maybe a few guys but not most.”

    NEGATIVE about Jameis….

    Jack Burton Mercer Says:
    August 5th, 2015 at 2:45 pm

“Wow, Winston fans sure are thin skinned.”

NEGATIVE about Jameis…and you’re damn right we are.

    Doubt much?

  20. LakeLandBuc Says:

I remember when Green Bay beat the Bucs 21- 7 in the 1997 playoffs, the Bucs were trailing the Packers 13-0. Trent Dilfer hit Reidel Anthony for a 52 yard pass, Reidel was tackled from behind (by his fanny pack) when he came to the sidelines, Warren Sapp ripped the fanny pack off him and threw it in the heat blower. That what we need to get this team back on top, emotion, heart from the players.

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ 87

How were you able to pull up past comments…..like the ones you did from Jack Burton Mercer?

  22. Dreambig Says:

Tampabaybucsfan – Not sure how 87 does it but you can just google their name and a the articals they have posted in will come up.

    For example:
    Tampabaybucfan Says:
    May 11th, 2014 at 6:11 pm
Ah…yes…..and ‘if you want to see the truest character of a man, take his power away”….Either Josh Freeman or Mike Glennon!!!

However, your name is too common so it does not work very well. Might have to be more specific in the google search

  23. Brent bull/buc Says:

Man I’m looking at the worst team in the league the Texans, I’d take their receivers over ours in a heartbeat. Green-Beecham Harry Douglass Kendal wright Justin hunter. They got 4 guys. We got 2. And a bunch of hopes sos

  24. Brent bull/buc Says:

It’s a not Texans my bad

  25. Brent bull/buc Says:

    Titans

  26. Buc1987 Says:

    TBBF…I’m a magician. 🙂

  27. Buccfan37 Says:

Can’t you just go back reading through the archives to find anybodies past comments? For me it would be very time consuming, although I have looked back a little before.

  28. cmurda Says:

Well Brent, I disagree. ME has back to back great seasons despite not playing his best last year. The ceiling is extremely high for him. Harry Douglass has been a #3 receiver his whole career at best, Justin Hunter could emerge but hasn’t yet, and Kendall Wright is average. Behind ME, we have Kenny Bell (none of us know how good he will be), Humphreys, Dye, Andre Davis, Murphy, Sheppard and f course V Jax. Our WR corps is fine which is why it wasn’t addressed. We may need to eventually add a competent #3 if Hump, Murphy or Bell aren’t able to lock down the #3 role. I highly doubt that happens. These guys are good enough. The Titans have a horrible receiving corps. Not even close my friend.

  29. BigMacAttack Says:

+5 points for proper use of ‘effect’.

  30. Buc1987 Says:

Buccfan37….yeah you can do that too, but it’s time consuming. You can find some fun assed stuff in the archives too. I’ve stumbled onto some really good JBF battles, sat and read them for an hour or so when bored.

When you read that old stuff you start to realize why JBF RULES!

  31. cmurda Says:

    @87 & 37,

One word of caution. Be careful if you search your own old posts. Speaking for myself (not Pablo), I had to laugh to myself how many times I was wrong about draft picks and our players. Johnny Football like crazy 2 years ago. What was I thinking. I’m going to blame that one on Joe.

  32. Buc1987 Says:

lol cmurda…I’ve read those posts too. My favorite is finding myself saying forget Johnny Football and to wait another year to try to get Jameis.

Then there’s my Josh Freeman lovefest in 2103….I like to forget about that mistake! /:

  33. Brent bull/buc Says:

Wright would be fighting for #2 on our team against 33 year old Vjax. You forgot to mention Beecham green he looks like a monster. Douglas and hunter have actually proven they can play. They have 4 legit nfl receivers and still drafted tajee sharp. We have 2 legit receivers and didn’t bother to add anything? Thanks licht…

  34. SB with Jameis Says:

Lol Cmurda. Joe was pushing Johnny PartyAnimal pretty dam hard.

  35. Buc1987 Says:

Breant…now all they need is a QB!

  36. cmurda Says:

Yeah Sb w Jameis. Joe, you just go ahead and keep posting JW stories so we can forget about the Manziel escapade. It’s the best medicine.

  37. BuccaneEric75 Says:

87, I’m amazed at how fast you find old posts. It not that you find them, but that you find the ones that are relevant to the argument. I looked at the time of the posts above, expecting it to be a while In between, but it was only like 10 minutes apart. You are either really good, or you have a giant board on the wall with everyone’s old posts about Jameis, CSI style! Lol

  38. Buc1987 Says:

Eric..lol nope I am THAT good!

Don’t hate because I’m beautiful…Oh they hate that line. Think I’m conceited, but it’s only a joke.

I used to get attacked for this crap. Some fans like it, some don’t.

I like it. It amuses me. I just HAVE to look people up, because I have a damn good memory of who’s who and what they said in the past. Especially pertaining to Jameis.

Man if I were to post some of the most vile disgusting things said about this kid before the 2014 draft peeps would be like DAYUM. Yet most of those a-holes have left the site as they should. They come and go on this site, but I’m a Bucaholic. I live here year round.

Realist however has been here since this sites inception.

Me, I’m just a guy that everyone gravitates towards. Been that way my whole life. Sometimes it sucks too. If you’re in a bad mood everyone knows it, because they expect me to make them laugh. So it’s a burden I must carry.lol

I’m not conceited at all. I’m just me.

  39. SB with Jameis Says:

Yeah….I googled a name I can’t type in here due to filters and all my old posts from this site and all the sites I frequent came up.

  40. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Ok 87, I’ve got a challenge for you. See if you can go back and find my “drunk posts”! I posted some stuff a couple of nights that I didn’t even understand when I looked the next morning! Lol

  41. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Yea, SBwJ, I know your old names. I’m glad you were able to get back on here.

  42. LakeLandBuc Says:

What in the hell does this old time stuff has to do with the topic?

  43. Buc1987 Says:

LakeLand…not much at all, but on Friday nights on JBF it seems anything goes at the top of the site.

The old stuff is related to Jack Burton Mercer’s old posts about Jameis and his disdain for anyone that wanted him on our team.

So when he comes into JBF today and runs his mouth about Jameis STILL to this day, he’ll get called out for it. It’s called keeping people in check. It also tells lots of people as to why these people STILL think this way about our future SB Champion.

Eric….give me a little bit of time. I’ll find it for you…

  44. Buc1987 Says:

    Okay Eric I’m close.

I know the exact date that you were drunk posting so far.

    June 5th 2015.

Give me time. I’ll post it sometime tomorrow….

  45. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    Ok 87, do me proud!

  46. SB with Jameis Says:

87 do me a favor and don’t look up when I was drunk posting. Too much content to sift through. 🙂

  47. BuccaneEric75 Says:

87, if you find the ones I’m thinking of Ill try to explain them.

  48. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I take full responsibility for my incoherent rants while intoxicated!

  49. SB with Jameis Says:

I Salute you wholeheartedly Eric. I too take responsibility. I have made a few transgressions myself. I have liked you since you first got here.

  50. SB with Jameis Says:

I actually just might have a slight buzz right now.

  51. BuccaneEric75 Says:

That might be why you like me!😛

  52. SB with Jameis Says:

Nah.. Actually I like you because you are levelheaded most of the time and make your statements with confidence yet are open-minded when people question them. Passion without hubris is hard to find on most internet threads.

  53. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Thanks SB. There are things I believe to be true, but I don’t know everything.

  54. the real Bucobruce Says:

if LeBron James had half of Jameis Winston’s heart he would already have seven rings.tampaaaaaaa

  55. DemBoyzFromDaBay727 Says:
