Applauding Jameis

The one thing Joe really admires about the old Bucs is the guys are still tight, years after hanging up their shoulder pads for good.

And the elder Bucs really like to keep in touch with the goings-on within the walls of One Buc Palace.

For example, it is common to see Warren Sapp bouncing around One Buc Palace. The players love to bond with him and he loves offering football wisdom. Sapp is far from the only ex-Bucs player to be seen at team headquarters.

From what Joe has heard, Ronde Barber is an unofficial part of the front office’s inner circle. Of course, Shelton Quarles is a key figure in AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht’s kitchen cabinet. John Lynch has been invited to sit in on brainstorming sessions with the defensive coaching staff, and he has taken advantage.

So when Joe reads the following from former Bucs defensive tackle and current SiriusXM NFL Radio and SEC Network talking head Booger McFarland, Joe knows Booger is getting this information directly from a former teammate, if not seeing it himself with his own eyes.

In short, Bucs fans should sleep comfortably knowing the team is being led by America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Sometimes Joe must pinch himself when reading things like this. Rarely, and Joe means rarely, does anyone ever see such unanimous praise of a player from all circles, whether it is front office types, assistant coaches, former college coaches, players, ex-players or even players’ significant others.

The only time Joe can find anything negative about Jameis is from the naysayers or the outright haters who just have miserable, shallow lives.

Probably the one positive thing Lovie Smith should get credit for, is tanking the 2014 season so we could draft Winston. It’s about all he was good for anymore……LOSING. But I praise the day we were able to make Jameis Winston the face of our franchise….no offense to any other Buccaneer player, but when you have a quarterback with the TALENT, DRIVE, HEART and FAITH Winston has….the sky’s the limit!

There is something going on with this team that should have all of us extremely excited.

This young core of players that Jason Licht has put together are not only talented, but extremely hard working. I’m not just talking about Jameis, but go through Kwon’s twitter and you’ll see him working his tail off this offseason with a giant chip on his shoulder. LVD is consistently on the grind. Adam Humprhries and Mike Evans. 4

And it’s not just the hardwork but also the family atmosphere that has been created over the last year. Jameis, Donovan and Marpet hanging out together. Jude tweeting out “I LOVE this team!” Robert Ayers saying that this team is having more fun while also working harder than any team he’s been a part of.

I’ve been a part of less talented teams that had a fun atmosphere and family vibe around them and we won championships. I’ve been a part of extremely talented teams full of malcontents that couldn’t reach their potential.

Bucs fans, it’s time to get excited. Not just for 2017 but for the next 10-15 years.

Now we need 52 more players as dedicated as Jameis.

I can remember sitting at that Saints game…..with us actually whipping them pretty good….then looking over at the sideline with Evans, Jackson & LVD not playing……pi$$ed…..I sat next to a fan who was rooting for us to fumble etc.

My Buc DNA wanted a win….especially against the Saints…. and, I also thought we might have a shot at Jameis @ # 2…….

After was all over….I cooled down & realized….we could have whoever we wanted….and we made the right choice.

    All Hail the Messiah!

It went against every fiber of my being – but I was really hoping we would lose the last 4-5 games in 2014. I knew from watching many FSU games that Winston was the best QB prospect in many years and would instantly legitimize the Bucs chances for success. 2-14 was hard to stomach while it was happening – but the payoff was soooooooo worth it!
