“Teamwork Makes The Dream Work”

April 28th, 2016
Lead by example.

Lead by example.

Yeah, Joe is pretty sure you have heard that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is a leader.

A lot of talk about leaders is empty rhetoric often trumpeted by the likes of Dan Sileo. But with Jameis, it’s not just lip service when you see veterans light up like a Christmas tree when discussing their franchise quarterback. For lucky guys like Joe, it’s impressive seeing in person how Jameis’ teammates just over-the-top rave about him, from Vincent Jackson to Johnthan Banks and dozens in between.

So yesterday, Jameis was asked about team camaraderie and leadership and how that translates into, hopefully, wins.

Hanging with teammates away from One Buc Palace is “very important because teamwork makes the dream work,” Jameis said. “We definitely ride by that, so we have to be close, we have to be brothers and that’s how we get things going.

“[Work ethic] just sets the tone. Guys like Peyton Manning – he’s the hardest worker in the weight room. The quarterback has to show these guys that you’re working. I didn’t want to come back and these guy like, ’Oh, Jameis looks the exact same.’ I had to give them something to talk about, right?”

This much is clear: Whether Jameis ever becomes an All-Pro quarterback and/or gets the Bucs to the playoffs, remains to be seen. But if he fails, it sure won’t be from a lack of effort.

Joe remembers a not-so-distant quarterback of the past talked a good game about being a leader. Hint: Said quarterback, currently unemployed, isn’t Jameis.

Also said unemployed QB came in one offseason having lost a bunch of weight and we all know how that ended up.

  2. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

It’s not that you lost the weight. It’s HOW you lost the weight.

We all know what the difference is….

Who knew that Winston was the New York Mets fan?

Now, listen … my brothers … in Tampa Bay, we gone do it den? We do it big!

Is the one buc “palace” a typo or a joe joke? I’ve noticed it in a few articles. It’s in a Jameis quote here so I think it’s a typo. Just pointing it out.

  6. Buczilla Says:

Not a typo. Any long time fan can tell you what a dump the glorified trailer park the original One Buc Place was. Once they moved into their lavish new digs, it almost universally became known as One Buc Palace, a moniker even the team has embraced…
