Koetter Expects Improvement
April 13th, 2016Dirk Koetter made no secret of his expectations as the first offseason conditioning program he will oversee as Bucs coach began Monday morning.
At his press conference, Koetter was clear he expected his offense to both improve and get better results (read: wins).
“We’re by no means where we need to be on offense,” Koetter said. “When you win six football games, you’ve got a lot of stuff [to work on]. We’ve got to score more points, number one.
“Any time you come in and you change a lot of stuff in a system, whether it be offense, defense or special teams, and then you don’t have any, or very few, coaching changes in that area, especially with the play caller and the philosophy behind both the run game, the pass game, the protections, you should expect better execution in year two. Honestly, the numbers are really not as important as how that affects our team in a better chance to win games.”
Koetter later said, much like he said last fall as the team’s offensive coordinator, the only thing people give a damn about are wins. Stats are nice, records are neat, but the name of the game always has been and always will be about wins.

Coach Koetter … “the name of the game always has been and always will be about wins.”
Dirk gets it. Jameis gets it. And if they haven’t already gotten it, the rest of the team soon will. Go Bucs.

I thought his comment on Glennon saying this was the first year he’s returned to the same offense. Hopefully the team can find some years of consistency.

Thats actually sad to think about. We’ve had what 4 differnt offenses now? No wondering we can’t get anything going.

The honeymoon and lovefest is over. Time to go win some games. Time to get our Bucs back into contention..back to the playoffs. Anything less is unacceptable. Hard schedules..injuries..bad game calls..all excuses. Good teams find a way to win. And good teams have good balance on both sides of the ball. Batter up Coach Koetter. Good luck sir. You’re going to need every ounce of it.

Going forward it’s like a heavy weight has been lifted off the Bucs shoulders and likewise for the fans. Just the coaching staff itself is cause for optimism. Go Bucs!
