Who Is Miko Grimes?

March 12th, 2016
Miko Grimes and her Bucs cornerback husband Brent.

Miko Grimes and her Bucs cornerback husband Brent.

Yesterday was the greatest day in Bucs history since the team drafted America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

Yes, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht inked defensive end Robert Ayers to a deal, but he also locked up Pro Bowl corner Brent Grimes and, probably just as important, Grimes’ colorful, flamboyant wife, Miko.

It seems Miko is a part-time sports radio host in Miami (Joe assumes that gig will end) and has been known for her no-holds-barred commentary of the Dolphins on social media.

In her own right, Miko herself is a star.

So Joe was searching and found an article typed in September by Mike Clary of the Sun-Sentinel, which dug deep in to Miko’s background.

Since joining the Dolphins in 2013, Brent Grimes has proven himself to be one of the league’s premier cornerbacks, and his wife has established her bona fides as an NFL spouse who does not hesitate to speak her mind. On her blog and her @iHeartMiko account on Twitter, she’s been a fierce defender of her husband. (As of Monday afternoon, it appeared that her Twitter account had been deactivated.)

After he was subjected to fan criticism after a game last season, Miko Grimes suggested her husband might not be around to see the back-end of the four-year, $32-million contract he signed after the 2013 season. “U better beleve he wont see that other 16M! They can opt out after the guaranteed,” she said.

She has been an equally fierce critic of the league. “The NFL is the s——–, shadiest, disrespectful, professional sport in the world and as long as I breathe air, I will talk s—- about them,” she wrote in January. “U have these BULL—- a– NOMORE campaigns going on about domestic violence and sexual assault when we all know u dont GAF about women!”

Miko also has been a greater outspoken critic of the NFL, blasting the casting aside of former players with health issues and ignoring those players their time of need.

Also, much as been made of Miko shutting down her Twitter account temporarily after the Bucs signed her husband, but Clary’s article suggests this has happened often.

Damn, this is fun. Joe is so going to enjoy Miko’s stay in Tampa. Let’s hope her husband comes away from his days in Tampa Bay with a big fat, expensive, gaudy ring.

I’d like to see the bucs bring in Rueben Randle or Andre Holmes, LB Zach Brown, and CB Brandon Boykin.

  2. NashvilleBuc Says:

This organization is going to have it’s hands full.

  3. Ed Says:

It’s is about time the Buc’s sign hard nose football player’s instead of choir boys.
I have been critical of this G.M. but i eat crow and love each of these signing.

After watching these videos on YouTube…..SHE HAS GOT TO TAILGATE WITH MY CREW! Potentially undiagnosed bi-polar issues self-medicated with alcohol…

    Hot coals? Gasoline…..
I just thought you two should meet

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Lovie’s kind of woman…..coming to us one year too late…..can she play in the slot? We need attitude on an off the field…I don’t even care if it’s a bad attitude at this point!!!

  6. R.O. Says:

I’m assuming only the 1st year of his deal is Guarenteed?

Lmao you say that NOW, Joe, but wait until she starts trashing America’s Quarterback, Buc’s signal caller Jameis Winston, after a loss.

  8. JAB83 Says:

Just figured it out… I Don’t Care about players personal lives as long as they stay out ta trouble… And I dam sure don’t care who they stick they’re beaver pill in… If she becomes the headlines that means our team REALLY SU KS and chances are I will not be paying attention anyhow….

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

When all of the Sh.. starts flying down there in Tampa with this crazy A..Miko, I don’t want to hear you Buc fans complaining about how terrible and disruptive she is to the team. You laud the signing of grimes and that’s fine. But now you must accept all of the disruption and garbage his wife brings. And there will be lotsa garbage and talk flying everywhere. You guys brought every last bit of it. There is a reason other teams stayed away from Grimes as you shall soon see. Good Luck.

  10. The Other Side of the Coin Says:

This is going to be fun. Welcome to the Grimes

  11. Tiny Tim Says:

    Joe

You have lost your mind. You are suppose to be covering the buc players and not buc wives. Why give this chick a platform to disrupt? I love grimes play. Talk about that and not his d@€n wife. Some of you so-called buc fans are pathetic. You are starving for national attention or attention period so much, that you are ok with the fact that she could come in and be a disruptive force. You do not even know what you should be getting attention for. News flash so-called buc fans and journalist, its not miko grimes!!! She is not bringing toughness or an edge to this team. She does not rush the passer or catch the ball. She did not sign a contract with the bucs to tackle an opponent or did you miss that? Pathetic….

  12. Stevek Says:

    OneLove/Mike Johnson,

Brent Grimes is a welcome addition to the team, wife and all. How does Lovie’s Fighting Illini look? I heard Lovie is bringing in Mike Jenkins’ cousin on a full ride.

His hire at Illinois is a dream come true for me, as a Buccaneer and Buckeye fan.

  13. Chris Says:

Seems like Joe is more into the celebrity angle of football. Johnny alcoholic, Miko Grimes, I know I’ll get a backhand from Joe, but, who needs Miko and hopefully a 33 yr old db can still be top shelf. Greatest day in Buc history since Jameis

  14. Chris Says:

    Nice one Tim

  15. Pickgrin Says:

    Mike Johnson Says:
    “down there in Tampa”

I had a feeling you were not a part of the Tampa Bay area – nor emotionally invested in its football team. Why are you even on here?

  16. chipbuc Says:

Mike Johnson Are you ever happy with what the Bucs do? Do us a favor, STFU!!!!!

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

Note to Stevek.. See a shrink sir. Its not normal for men to have Lovie Smith fetishes sir. Lovie is gone. Time to..execute the next coach.

  18. Stevek Says:

    One Love/Mike Johnson,

Thanks for the advice. I hope your wang diction fetish can be helped by your shrink too.

  19. Mike Johnson Says:

GEt help for that Lovie Smith Fetish sir. You keep bringing him up. He’s gone. Send him a card..or a kiss..sir. Opss my bad..

  20. Mike Johnson Says:

Stevek..I found you a shrink off of Dale Mabry. He is available. Check to see if your insurance plan cover. You can..thank me later sir!

  21. Pickgrin Says:

Dale Mabry – that’s funny. Dude doesn’t know anything about the Tampa Bay area – so he looks up online which street the stadium is on and references it like he knows something.

Go be a Johnson somewhere else loser.

  22. CalBucsFan Says:

Wanted Bucs to sign Grimes when he left Atlanta, so definitely happy he’s here now.

And thanks for the video link Joe, no doubt Miko willl add a little sidebar social media spice to the Bucs, it should be fun to watch on and off the field.

  23. JAB83 Says:

Let me be the first to let Mike know…. You are free to say what you want… But in the end I hope you know the only people that will give you any attention will only do so to try and profit from you… Sure you will get the attention your starving for and maybe make a few dollars in the process… However at the end of the day you will just be getting use and eventually thrown away and forgotten…. I hope this does not seem familiar to you as some female trades may have the same effect. If not don’t be offended… Like you I’m just sticking up for what’s right…. But its your life as long as you are happy who cares about anyone else let alone your husband…

That said I know nothing about you… So you have a clean slate with me in Tampa… Here’s hoping you stay classy when being outspoken and not trashy while being poorly spoken…

  24. unbelievable Says:

“Greatest day in Bucs history since the team drafted Jameis Winston” ?!?

    Joe, put down the bottle.

We signed 2 mediocre stop-gap players. WTH are u talking about man?

  25. Mike Johnson Says:

Note to Pickgrin. Nice handle there..Pick and Grin. Where dat come from? The rebel Confederacy! Welcome aboard. Takes a loser to know one. HAHAHHA.

  26. unbelievable Says:

Hey look everyone the troll is up early today.

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

Of course I am unbelievable. Why that’s..Unbelievable huh?

  28. buc4life1979 Says:

    @Joes
You should stop being coy about Miko. You guys know you’re chomping at the bit to try and lasso her to a weekly interview spot 😉 I for one would LOVE to hear her talk.

  29. Mike Johnson Says:

WEll said there JAB83. Its all good with me. I don’y turn the other cheek. I like confrontation if its brought to me..first. I say what a lot of Buc fans here won’t say. They want to put sweet smelling glade on things yet to come. Me? I’ve suffered thru many many losing seasons since our Bucs inception. So, I’m a pragmatist. I believe it, when I see that it works. I’ll not give this new regime one iota of credit..yet. Lets see the product on the field. As for this Milo Story, I think its a bad move for the Bucs. I can say that. You don’t want an outsider bothering teammates and cause animositites in the locker room. She has a history of this. Might be good for the local papers and Koe, But bad for player cohesion.

  30. Pickgrin Says:

How many Bucs games have you attended Johnson?

BTW – the “handle” is a reference to guitar playing – which you obviously weren’t smart enough to recognize.

Now do us all a favor and GIT! Your trolling ways are quite tiresome.

  31. Joe Says:

    Tiny Tim:

You have lost your mind. You are suppose to be covering the buc players and not buc wives. Why give this chick a platform to disrupt?

No, Joe is about Bucs topics that interest Joe. And Miko very much interests Joe. Very much.

Joe finds her to be entertaining and captivating. Just judging by the massive traffic Joe had yesterday and the comments, many other Bucs fans find her interesting as well.

    Joe embraces Miko!

  32. Mike Johnson Says:

Note to Pickgrin..I was attending Buc games in the 70’s when you were probably in diapers sir!! LEts just say totaled..over 100 games attended. But I will admit, I have not attended the last 4 to 6 yrs. Hell, I can sit at home at watch them lose on my 60 inch curved TV..while drinking libations to ease the pain of losing…without the high ticket price and potential..DUI!!

  33. Luther Says:

Safe to say Lovie would have never approved of Brent’s wife so we never would have signed Brent.

  34. Joe Says:

    Luther:

    You are probably right.

  35. Erik with Clean Athletics Says:

    @ Joe,

She sounds like a righteous/pleasant version of Lovie’s wife.

I got some inside info that supposedly Lovie’s wife was an absolute horror to deal with and so mean & nasty to everyone.

  36. Pickgrin Says:

On that we can agree Mike. How bout you tone down the negativity and unhealthy skepticism a couple notches and be Mike Johnson on here instead of just a Johnson.

  37. 76buc Says:

    I think she’s hot!! What a looker.

  38. James Walker Says:

DONT FEED THE TROLL! Ignore her. Make this the LAST article on Miko.

  39. JAB83 Says:

Yeah Joe she is as entertaining as it gets… Reminds me of the most entertain female of the last decade….

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt9NNdm3lkI

  40. JAB83 Says:

So just to be clear…. We really care about what she says Joe… Keep us posted… Such as like when she dose something to say something that like some people such as Africa might won’t to do something like listen to something that someone like me just won’t give a f about… As long as it makes money let’s sell that hot pile of poo just to be entertained by all the bull such as you know like when Africa hire Johnny Football

  41. Mike Johnson Says:

Ok Pickgrin..I’ll tone it down..a bit. I’m really not negative though. I’m just tired and depressed about us being laughed at in the NFL. I WANT US TO WIN AND WIN BIG!! Now occasionally though, I will say a few things. But I guess I can..tone it down a tad. Especially since I am one of the original Buc fans from way back when.

  42. Bucco Says:

    Yo

  43. Pickgrin Says:

Mike – there I quite a few of us “original Buc fans from way back when” on here.

Dude you can say whatever you want obviously.

Now maybe its just me, but it seems like a lot more fun to be a fan when you have hope and positive expectations regarding the team you root for. Especially when you see positives happening in regards to the team making decisions that seem to be heading in the right direction. I and most everyone see the team doing the right things now – so that gives hope and positive expectation.

It’s a good time to be a Bucs fan. I believe now that we have a real franchise QB and FINALLY have a GM who seems to be able to identify talented players, this team will soon be winning more games than it loses.

Bad drafting and sub-par coaching has had this franchise sucking for too many years – so I understand the frustration and skepticism.

But its time for all Bucs fans to support this team and its coaches and GM and Yes – even the owners. All are trying to do whatever is within their power to bring a winner to the long suffering fans of this team.

If the team comes out and plays like they did last year on opening day – then all bets are off and torches and pitchforks are bound to be brandished and rightfully so.

But for now – how bout lets be positive fans and trust that this new regime knows what they are doing. The appearance is that they do. Time shall tell.

    Peace

  44. Miko Says:

Brent tackles, battles, hates to lose….We’s gonna get this dynasty rollin….

  45. Pete422 Says:

Have her as a regular guest on WDAE….

  46. LifeOfABucFan Says:

She already follows JoeBucs on twitter..She would be great on a radio sports show here..

  47. bucs4life86 Says:

I think these two signing show that Licht believes the Bucs are ready to win NOW. Why wait a couple years?

G-MAC and LVD are in the prime of there careers and are not getting any younger. U gotta think Gerald is going into his eighth year so he prob has a few more good years before the arrow starts pointing down and we will have to start looking for his replacement. Wich is why drafting Sheldon Rankins wouldn’t be a bad idea.

And LVD is going into his 6th year so why not make a run, while our best players are in,there prime of there career. If JW can improve on his footwork and accuracy and the Defense can apply some pressure there no reason to believe we can’t make a playoff run.

Every year we waste all pro and pro bowl seasons from our leaders like G-MAC and LVD. It’s time we do something with them.
