Fun Miko Grimes, wife of new Bucs cornerback Brent Grimes.
This story out of the NFL Owners Meetings today should sort of inspire Bucs fans.
Yes, fans, you can be heard by ownership. Whether it’s on blogs or social media, on sports radio or in chat rooms, on the streets or at the box office, fans can have a big voice and impact.
Per the Palm Beach Post, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross strongly implied today that his team released new Bucs cornerback Brent Grimes, in part, because of his wife’s behavior.
“I think everybody knows what she represented. I thought it was best that the Dolphins move on from Brent and Miko,” Ross said.
What??
What’s going on in this world? First, Joe can’t find any charges that stuck after Miko Grimes was arrested outside a Dolphins game. She’s not a monster. Second, a devoted fan’s harsh commentary, a fan who happens to be your Pro Bowl cornerback’s wife, is affecting personnel decisions?
Damn. No wonder the Dolphins are a mess!
Joe is confident a grounded guy like Bucs general manager Jason Licht wouldn’t be so weak-kneed. Surely, Dirk Koetter wouldn’t cave to this kind of external pressure.

the assertion is not tolerating a disruptive element that pulls focus from the football field and insults her husbands coworkers publicly is the sign of a weak organization. What do the Joes think the Patriots would do if Malcolm Butler’s wife or Julian Edelman’s wife went Miko on the franchise?
I’m happy to have Brent, and i don’t waste a moment thinking about Miko when i’m not reading about her on this site, so this is not being critical of the move. However, I don’t know how much sense it makes to differentiate a spouse or girlfriend who is negatively affecting locker room chemistry from other distractions or impediments to team unity channeled through a single player.
Dolphin’s locker room and organization has been and continues to be a mess. Alot of the heat was almost certainly deserved. What concerns me as a bucs fan is that i can’t assert that our organization is substantially stronger or better run in the last 7 or 8 years. I find it hard to believe that Miko won’t open fire on the Bucs and Bucs fans before it’s all over. And if that has implications inside the locker room, I’m okay with that being part of the reason the bucs eventually move on from a 34 or 35 year old Grimes

I am all for hearing about NFL wives that make a positive contribution to their community.

If this were a younger player on a longer term contract…I’d be more concerned…but we can handle most anything for 2 years….I suspect there will be some positives from her along with the negatives.

If media types make it a story, its to get attention and eyeballs….Brady is pretty popular, Grimes and the Bucs, not so much.
