Out But Not Gone

November 4th, 2015
Vows to stay close.

Vows to stay close.

Joe has the feeling the loss of Clinton McDonald with a pectoral injury for the year is a big, big blow.

McDonald is a wily veteran, not flashy but certainly a steady, dependable player with jewelry. From what Joe has heard, a lot of defensive players looked up to McDonald for his wisdom and leadership.

If you noticed in this video that has America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, pumping up his teammates in a pregame chat in Atlanta, McDonald is right behind Jameis. That’s not the first time Joe has seen the former Super Bowl-winner stand next to Jameis as he addresses teammates.

Well, even though McDonald is done playing for the year, that doesn’t mean he will be invisible. He posted to his Instagram account he will be there for his teammates the rest of the season.

macclid: I’m still going to be a leader for this team and motivate and share my knowledge with the my brothers. God bless us thru this journey!!! Let go Bucs. FIGHTING FOR TAMPA!!!

Pretty cool words. McDonald is sort of like the Logan Mankins of the defense. A quiet, no-nonsense guy who is eager to help.

Clinton McDonald’s a class act. A young team like the Bucs desperately need leadership like he and Logan Mankins have shown. Both are winners and can teach our young guys how to develop that winner’s mindset.

    Much respect

  3. Warren Says:

Get well soon Clinton. We do need your leadership. Hopefully Akeem Spence and others can step up now

  4. Kevin Says:

Spence will step in and rise to the occasion. He’s a brick wall. Can’t wait to see if he fills in good. Hope McDonald get’s well again. Like that dude

It seems to me that the team has some chemistry developing…

I sure hope these injuries to the D-line don’t come back to haunt us, we need pressure from the front 4.

  7. Brett Says:

Yeah, that is a huge concern. With McCoy injured and not playing as well as he has before, this could really expose the defense.

McDonald is a class act and the only free agent signing the incompetent Lovie smith got right. Get well Mr. McDonald. at least you are spared from being on the field to witness first hand Lovies defense collapse and blow leads each week.

  9. Newbucsfan Says:

Noticed how he called the players “my brothers”? Is this verbiage that the Bucsplayers generally used in the past when referring to each other or is ithis something new? Curious

tough break for Mcdonald; ude is one of the few FA signings that L&L actually got right. Hopefully his leadership presence will still help from the sideline but this D needs all competent hands on deck and right now this D is a royal cluster**** under Lovie’s tutelage. Lovie should be glad his team has scraped out 3 wins after what happened in Nashville yesterday with Whisenhunt and the Colts summarily firing incompetent coordinators (of course it would take a call from the Glazer punks to make Lovie fire himself from the DC postion and let frazier take over)…..
