Joe nearly jumped out of his shoes when he saw Charles Sims haul in a touchdown pass from America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, late in the first half to put the Bucs up 28-14.

The 14-yard reception was an insane display of body control.

Sims skied like Michael Jordan between two defenders, caught the ball, and as he was falling to the ground somehow spun forward and got the ball over the goal line for seven.

You know what that reminded Joe of? The Joe Jurevicius magic act/catch to open the 2003 season in Philadelphia, where he caught the ball along the sideline and as he was falling out of bounds, somehow danced and waved the ball around the pylon for six.

That catch by Sims was exactly the reason the Bucs drafted him in the third round in 2014. Sims, who was injured much of last year, has made significant strides since his rookie season. It’s hard to believe he is the same player that was pretty much useless offensively last year.

Sims is going to be our Lenny Moore, former Baltimore Colt great who played both RB and WR equally effectively.

I was pleased to see Sims split wide at times today and not just in the backfield.

  2. BucTrooper Says:

That was an ill advised throw, but the result was better than expected.

  3. Dave Says:

I like Sims but I hope they don’t try to replace DM. DM is clearly a better runner. Keep both.

Where is the crowd that whines about us wasting a 3rd round pick on Sims?

He is extremely versatile and plays his role very well….nothing but an upside for him.

Liked the addition of Sims from the get go. He continues to improve and makes the one two punch of he and Martin work.

  6. Joe Says:

    Lenny Moore

LOL 99 percent of Joe’s readers have no clue who that was. (Joe does!)

  7. @FamousBroy3434 Says:

Kwon Marpet and Sims. Far cry from drafting with Jon Gruden. No to mention sterling Moore and Jaq aquired

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

How stupid…..for Kwon to get popped of PED…..faces 4 game suspension….

Hey Bucs fans bust out your car window flag and fly it proud tomorrow.

    How bout…..Tom Matte?

  11. Buccfan37 Says:

Joe, I too remember Lenny Moore, I was a Packer fan, my brother was a Colts fan a decade before the Bucs existed.

    Nice play Sims!!

  13. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

    Matt Snell was the man.

  14. Tampa Tony Says:

Amazing catch! Thought it was a int for sure. Glad that see Jameis spread the ball around today

  15. ATLBucsfan Says:

This was a roller coaster play for me. When the ball was thrown I didn’t see Sims near the ball so I was sure it was an interception. Moments later pure joy watching Sims make a fantastic catch and turn it into aTD!

Charles Sims TD was one part of an offense firing on all cylinders. I was one who thought he was a waste of a 3rd round pick last year. He is not the same player we watched last year. He is the perfect compliment to Doug Martin. Amazing to watch Winston come together today. How about Mike Evans?

  17. No better way to say it Says:

That was a great throw too.. Over the underneath defender and down before the help defender could arrive.

Where’s all the “Sims was a waste of a 3rd round pick” people?
