Josh Norman Is In Mike Evans’ Head

Mike Evans hopes to avenge his two-catch, 13-yard effort against Carolina in December.

The newly crowned NFC Defensive Player of the Month, Panthers cornerback Josh Norman, is a huge trash talker.

And not only did he and Mike Evans get into it last year, but they engaged in an offseason Twitter spat, too.

Evans brought this up on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night — no details on the Twitter rage — and Joe’s takeaway was that Norman is in Evans’ head.

Remember, Norman is the guy who intercepted Cam Newton in training camp and the Panthers’ stud QB attacked him. Norman already has been fined for gestures at Blake Bortles this season, and Norman seems to be feeding off all of it. Last Sunday, he iced the game for the Panthers with an extraordinary end zone interception with one minute to play.

Norman held Texans star receiver DeAndre Hopkins to five catches for 53 yards last month, too. But the number of note is Evans only catching two balls for 13 yards against Norman during their last meeting in December.

If you’re headed to the Den of Depression for the game, take your binoculars off the cheerleaders for a while and focus on Evans and Norman. It could be telling.

Evans explained last night that he loves to trash talk, too, and he won’t back down from Norman’s chatter.

I’m hoping Humphries is activated because Rainey will be used at RB & we will use him some in the passing game…..we need multiple targets……really missing ASJ!!!

  2. Tampa Tony Says:

Time for Evans to show he is a legit #1.

  3. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Hate to say it, but Norman is the real deal. I know as Bucs fans we are going to hate him Sunday, but just keep in mind he’s a free agent next year. Just sayin’

  4. Ray Rice Says:

Will dislike him until he joins the YUCS! Until then, like every other opposing team/player hope they have a FUKD up game/season.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Can’t we possibly figure out a way to exploit the Panthers minus Kuechley?…….how about some screens to Sims…..surely we can use Myers more…and…I do believe they cant’ cover Evans & Jackson both.

  6. NJ BucFan Says:

And to think we drafted Najee Goode instead of Norman… Hated watching that draft and seeing him sitting at the top of the best available list for almost 2 full rounds while we were in desperate need for CB help..

  7. DB55 Says:

Call nick oleary and give Winston another target.

  8. DallasBuc Says:

Hearing that lousy old fool on the afternoon radio right now shill for the Bucs talking about taking home games oversees. Makes me sick. Shill for that incompetent fool that occupies the HC position and shill for an ownership group that wants to put two home games in another country. Bring back Jay Mohr please.

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Punch him in the face mikey!!!!!

  10. DB55 Says:

Gotta agree with Hawaiian, Norman definitely looks like a top flight corner. I’d expect Carolina to franchise him at year end though, so probably won’t be available to get next year.

  12. dmatt Says:

Please will the defense just shut Newton down. Since entering the league he take pleasure in showboating n embarrassing us each game.

  13. Patrickbucs Says:

    @bucrightoff

Exactly what I was going to say. He’s a great corner.

  14. PRBucFan Says:

He’s not the real deal till he does it consistently for more than the latter end of a year and three games.

Consistent is year to year to year.

Evans was also the only one to catch a TD on him last year when he was playing well. 😉

The over under bet for the week for how many pass interference penalties Evans will beg the refs for is 4. Seriously, he needs to man up and fight for the damn ball instead of whining and throwing adult temper tantrums. That act is getting old. I like ME 13 but he is walking a thin line between being a legit #1 NFL WR and a wanna be.

  16. Destinjohnny Says:

We just throw it to v jack then thank you very much.
Jameis locks in at this stage so lock in on 83

  17. "that guy" Says:

I think norman will beat michael clayton, oops i mean mike evans.

  18. "that guy" Says:

he would be more valuable to the bucs as a right tackle.

  19. firethecannons Says:

Time for a Mikey Evans body slam!

  20. CalBucsFan Says:

Hey Jameis, please don’t forget about VJ this game, he does know how to hold on to the ball.

  21. CalBucsFan Says:

With you on that RayJay, Evans is already reminding me of Kellen Whiney-slow. Grow up and just play better ball Mr. Evans!

  22. Bucfever40 Says:

I get being realist, but even after a bad game, Mike Evans STILL caught for over 100 yards, I can’t believe how some of you are bashing him like he’s a bust….ME is a phenom whether you like it or not!

  23. bucsbedabest Says:

    Dear Mike –

Please be the player you we all know you to be. If there was ever a time this team needed you, it is right here right now. We need our Megatron, our Dez, our Julio. Yes, your name fits right there with the biggest and badest WR in the game. You just need to let the game come to you. Every ball that your fingertips can touch, is a ball you go get. Look down on loud mouth Norman and show him the player you are meant to be. No more drops, no more penalties and no more complaining to the officials. The next time you talk to a man in stripes is when you hand him the ball. You are the player we thought you were.

    Sincerely –

    Johnny
