Jameis No. 8 On “Haters” List

October 1st, 2015
Hated man.

Hated man.

Folks love to hate. Just ask Myron Lewis.

So, armed with this knowledge, CBS Sports decided to compile a list of the most hated quarterbacks in the NFL.

Ironically, one of the biggest haters on the planet, prickly Pete Prisco, decided to author this list.

In his list of most hated NFL quarterbacks Prisco ranked America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, at No. 8.

8. Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Every time he makes a mistake, many in the media seem to gloat. It’s almost as if they want to be right that he shouldn’t have been the top pick in last May’s draft.

Prisco is right, at least on his second contention. Outside of a select handful of media types, Joe knows of no one in the Fourth Estate that pines for Jameis to fail.

Folks out on the street, well, that is a far different story. Joe has never seen a segment of a fanbase actually root for a No. 1 overall pick to fall on his face. It’s friggin’ sad, man, if not disgusting.

Joe can only imagine the folks — alleged Bucs fans, no less! — who want Jameis to fail are shut-ins who can’t get off their stale beer-stinking recliners while shoveling Pringles in their grill, watching re-runs of “Dawson’s Creek” trying to hatch a John Hinckley-like scheme to win the hand of Katie Holmes.

I love Taylor Swift! Ha! It’s true.

This is what we call a straw man argument. I don’t believe there are any fans of the Bucs that want to see Jameis fail… When Jameis fails the Bucs fail. I’d love to see him play to the point where he could silence his critics.. He certainly hasn’t done that yet… and he doesn’t appear to be as “NFL Ready” as Septembers Rookie of the Month.

Glad to see my most hated 2 are above Winston on the list…….Romo & Cammy….

Interesting that Mariota comes in at #30…..not surprised…..hard to hate.

Much of this is jealosy…..and I suspect folks will eventually warm up to Winston.

Oh, you don’t read the comments very much on this site, do you? 🙂 Or Joe’s Twitter mentions?

  5. PRBucFan Says:

    They can call themselves fans.

    Doesn’t mean they are…

Hell, how many things do you come across daily claiming to be something they aren’t ahahaha.

  6. Fartman Says:

I guess I’m just a cynical old Bucs fan… who just assumes we picked the wrong guy… because we always pick the wrong guy.

  7. Waterboy Says:

Lol yeah Jameis definitely has a lot of haters hoping to see him fail for various reasons but he’s a mentally tough kid which is one of the main reasons I preferred him in the draft. John Lynch didn’t even let him play his second NFL game before saying I told you so.

  8. Fartman Says:

I think you can be critical of Jameis, say I told you so, when you see Mariota out play him, and still be a fan of the Bucs. I’m easily won over. Just make me believe… I haven’t seen it.

  9. BrianBucs Says:

Marcus Mariota just named NFL Rookie Offensive Player Of The Month for September. Just Sayin’…..

  10. BucFan20 Says:

All you cried about was we needed a QB that could win. We were sold he was the savior that cold walk on water and hang points on other teams. People are fed up with the he is God sales speeches. He can’t get the team in the end zone on a regular basis and has to rely on the kicker. He has lost as many games as he has ever lost now. He is 1-2. When he has a winning record let me know. That is why you cried to get him here.

  11. Brandon Says:

A list of the most hated by a guy that loves to hate is ironic? If only I had known that sooner I wouldn’t have taught irony incorrectly to all of my English class students.

  12. Ray Rice Says:

Who gives a flying FUK about a Pete Prisco???

  13. Greg Says:

Deny all you want Joe but Winston will be gone in 3 more years and Mariota will have the Titans in the play offs. Glazers forced their dog and pony show on us and it will be a disaster!

  14. lurker Says:

false list if america’s quarterback tom brady isn’t #1. the true “america’s qb”.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

Greg..no one forced anyone upon us. They made the pick and the right pick at that. I see your foolish prediction in the exact opposite, except I don’t give Mariota 3 years.

RGIII was the NFL Rookie Offensive player of the YEAR.

    Just sayin…

  17. DoNUTS Says:

A prerequisite of being called “America’s QB” is that you have to have the ability to bring your team from behind late in the 4th Q in the NFL (not NCAA nole trolls)…..

The second prerequisite is having a winning record.

    0-2 for JW

yeah I am still waiting on it…..#3……

One thing is clear after 3 games, the media over-hyped both JW and MM way way too much….

  18. Fartman Says:

    Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

    Just sayin…

And Luck threw for 4000 yards and 23 TDs… so that is the bar then.

  19. Buc1987 Says:

DoNUTS….a prerequisite of being called “America’s QB” has nothing to do with his talent or ability on the field. You do know that right? Dumb question of course you, don’t know that or else you would never make a statement about his talent being linked to the nickname.

Damn Joe, never give up that name. It just drives people crazy to no end.

  20. Brett Says:

Sounds like he is describing Mike Florio of NBC sports. I used to like him, but wow. You guys should listen to his takes on Jameis. It has quieted down some after the New Orleans game but through preseason and the Tennessee game… wow.

  21. Buc1987 Says:

Fartman I see an easy 3500 yard season for JW. Then again The Colts threw the ball a lot. I looked up the stats for that season because I remembered Luck throwing for over 4000 yards and wanted to know the exact number.

Then I saw they ran the ball 440 times to Luck’s 630 passes. Lot’s variables have to be taken into account when you look at stats. That’s why I’m not a big fan of stats outside of W-L stats.

  22. Buc1987 Says:

Example : Winston’s thrown 93 passes the Bucs have ran the ball 81 times. The Colts had to be damn near passing on every down.

  23. BrianBucs Says:

Guys, all through pre-season we heard how Koetter was an offensive genius and would have the ball going up and down the field. But after 3 games I don’t see that happening, plus the offense looks to have no identity. Do you think that he was a little overrated or do you think it’s just a lack of offensive talent? Thoughts?

  24. Bucnjim Says:

Sorry BrianBucs in our 40 years of existence the Bucs have NEVER had a great or even a very good offense.

  25. Buccfan37 Says:

I feel Koetter is overrated also. My most hated QB’s are #1 the hands down winner is Tom Brady, #2 a close second Peyton Manning. Both are utterly disgustingly repulsive. None of the rest come close.

  26. Buc1987 Says:

Brian…I’ve never been that big a fan of Koetter. He’s got a decent resume I guess, but the Falcons weren’t exactly world beaters the last 3 years. I believed he would do a better job than Arroyo, but that’s all I ever said when it came to Koetter.

  27. Buc53 Says:

I’ve never seen anything like this—yes, I know this is a generalization, but a large portion of the Bucs fan base are Florida Gators. I think that we have a rival QB (who beat them) combined with a lot of negative (and false) PR and it has created a tempest in a teapot.

I am constantly surprised when I see Bucs fans just rooting for their starting QB to fail. Ahem..ahem..(BucsAnthem) ahem ahem.

Pick a team and cheer your butt off!! If it’s not this one–then don’t let the door hit ya on the way out. Go Bucs!

I guess you missed that playoff SB run, they have had strecthes of very good offenses under Gruden and Freeman had a good couple of years. Never a great offense though.

  29. Dave Says:

The number of haters on here is insane.
How a so-called football fan could watch the first three games and not realize that Winston is going to be a damn successful QB Is beyond me.
They just want to hate for whatever reason and have proven by their ignorance that they do not have a clue about football.
