Jaws Picks Titans, Says O-Line Will Foil Jameis

Ron “Jaws” Jaworski loves him some America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
The problem is Jaws has studied Jameis and the Buccaneers’ offensive line.
Remember, Jaws was at training camp last month with an ESPN crew and was very happy with the improvement of Jameis technically speaking, after scrutinizing his Florida State film before the draft.
But Jaws has been busy since he was in Tampa. He talked this week on SiriusXM NFL radio this week about his review of Jameis and Bucs film, as well as all things Marcus Mariota this preseason.
Simply stated, Jaworski said he can’t pick the Bucs on Sunday because their offensive line is so troubling, and Jameis is too immobile to create under the duress of Dick LeBeau blitzes. On the flip side, Jaws believes Mariota playmaking ability with his legs will be a major difference-maker against Tampa Bay. He also said Mariota’s arm strength is better than what appeared on his college film, and his current offensive line is good enough to allow him to bet the Bucs.
In all, Jaws remains very high on Jameis — just not tomorrow.
Joe will not sleep well tonight. But Joe isn’t troubled. Mariota is no superstar. In fact, the narrative of Mariota’s preseason would be a lot different if a slug safety of the Rams actually caught a Mariota pass thrown right in his hands last month. That guy’s name is Mark Barron.

Hopefully Lovie will go back and look at the film of how our Tampa D used to shut down Mike Vick back in the day. We have the speed at linebacker with David, Alexander, and Lansanah to contain Mariota. Our line needs to keep him in the pocket and take away his first option.

Dick Lebeau’s Steelers defense managed only 1 sack against the Bucs and none against Dirk Koettter’s Falcons last season. Both OLs were just as bad, if not worse, than this season’s Bucs OL. In Dirk I trust.

Mariota took like 2x as many sacks as Winston last year despite FSU line being a disappointment much of the season especially early on. 40 times don’t always correlate to avoiding sacks

I can see something like a 17-16 game tomorrow and the people panicking and trying to burn down the pirate ship. Just remember folks… we got a rookie QB at the head of a 2-14 team. I know the Titans have the same, but both teams aren’t very good and in game one pretty much anything can happen. If the Bucs play a Tampa 2 with and spy Mariota with David, like they used to do with Brooks on Vick, then they should be fine. If the Bucs sit back in a true zone with no spy…. look out.
Anywho folks here’s a suggestion… if the Bucs lose, don’t panic. The Bucs aren’t going anywhere this year anyways – and it’s not how the Bucs start the season, it’s how they end it. So long as we see solid progression from the rookies and from Winston, people should be fine. I think we’ll be a 6 win team, but that 6 wins might be backloaded on the schedule as the rookies start to not play like rookies.
But hey, if you want to jump off the Skyway, that’s your choice.
At the same time if Winston goes out tomorrow and throws for 300 yards and 3 TDs against a 2-14 team without its 2 starting corners, I also wouldn’t get overly excited about that as well – but I would be happier with it.

As to Jaws, I’m tiring of all the predictions at this point. I think Joe is just posting them so he can brag about how wrong they are later 😉
IF they are wrong.
In this case, I think we’ll lose too, but I am certainly hoping I am wrong…because a win would go a long way to going .500 in the first half of the season.
If we do that, I believe the second half will go much better…unless those injury issues I predicted on defense come true.

But none of that matters now. What mattes is what they each do now.

I just wish there was someway to get some of that action. The best line I’ve found is the Buc -2 1/2 most Vegas lines have us giving the Titans 3…and that’s homefield advantage in a pickem game. Now if I could GET 28 points…4 TD’s I might have to bet the farm.
