Easy Edge Duty For Jacquies Smith?

It shouldn’t get much easier than Sunday for starting defensive end Jacquies Smith.
It’s the 255-pound speedster versus the gargantuan 335-pound rookie right tackle; Bucs leading sackmaster (Joe uses the term loosely here) Jacqueis Smith simply can’t lose this battle on Sunday.
Jeremiah Poutasi was a third-round pick of Tennessee out of Utah last year. He won the starting right tackle job in training camp, beating out (all together now) Jamon Meredith, who the Bucs ditched last summer.
The book on Poutasi is that he lacks athleticism, which explains why a 6-5, 335-pound guy who can play lasted until the third round of the draft.
Joe talked to Smith about Poutasi this week and the Bucs’ left defensive end has been studying college and preseason film.
Smith said he was happy Poutasi got extended summer work. “He had a lot of action in the preseason. That’s basically where you can get your read at,” Smith said. “I’ve seen some things on film he does well, and where I believe I can win.”
Joe asked Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt about Poutasi yesterday, and he painted him as a classic rookie and didn’t exactly rave about him.
“He’s a young guy who is very talented athletically, that has done some good things for us and done some rookie things for us,” Whisenhunt said. “He has been listed as our starter, but we feel good because we’ve got another guy that’s been with us before that has played that position as well. We are planning on [Poutasi] being in there when we get down there unless something changes, which I don’t expect it to.”
Lovie Smith must find a way to exploit a rookie right tackle. There are just no excuses. If the Titans help Poutasi with a tight end or a running back, then that’s great. The Bucs can find a way to counter the numbers.
Joe’s primary concern is Smith being able to deal with the rookie in the running game. That’s a hell of a load, and the Titans and Poutasi pushed around some quality defensive lines this preseason.

Year after Year I see the dorks on this site think the Bucs I mean Yucs will actually do something, I guess you people are delusional.. The Bucs suck have for 10 years now, will for another 10… Why?? First of all bad decision after bad decision, Jameis Winston will go down as the biggest bust in NFL History when it is all over, yes even ahead of Jamarcus Russel… The Bucs play in front of 40,000 at best per Sunday. Why? Because no one cares about the Bucs, everyone is this area has aliance to other teams… Our offensive line could not hold up against many college teams and it shows, 2 wins last year, 3 the year before, LMAO… Unstable environment and dysfunctional, 4 coaches in the last 7 years and 3 GMS… This team is no fun to watch they cant score, cant stop the run or pass and have below average players at every position but WR AND LB…. Yet you lonely people hang on to every Joe Bucs fam article and comment several times .. Kind of sad really, go make some friends, get a girl and go off the net…

Jacquies and the coaches might be working on ways to exploit the weaknesses of Poutasi, but you can rest assured that the Titans are looking Marpet and D. Smith’s weaknesses as well. They have the advantage since we have two rookies on our line.
