Get this man some help!

Get this man help!

Joe just wants to punch a wall because this franchise not only can’t find a guy who can breathe on a quarterback from the edge, but when the team had a guy who fit that description, they let him walk away for no good reason!

And no, Joe isn’t going to shut up about letting Michael Bennett walk for no good reason until the Bucs can find someone to at least get nine sacks from a defensive end. In the immortal words of Raheem Morris, “I will tolerate you until I can replace you.” This just in: The Bucs have yet to replace Bennett, much less Simeon Rice. Just friggin’ shameful and unacceptable!

So it seems good guy Gerald McCoy (once again) is putting it all on his shoulders. That’s a crying shame for him to bear the responsibility of a franchise that hits on defensive ends worse than Steven Souza, Jr. trying to hit curveballs.

In fact, GMC is getting so fed up, he is beginning to think those who don’t join him in punishing quarterbacks are lawbreakers, so he told Lindsey H. Jones of USA Today.

“We’ve got a saying in our room: ‘If you’re not rushing, you’re stealing.’ We’ve got to rush the passer,” McCoy said. “I have to be in the best shape of my life so at the end of the game it’s like I just started. So when that offensive lineman is tired, I can do what I have to do. All three downs. Don’t matter if it is two-minute drill, whatever it is.

“I want to be at my best every snap.”

Joe cannot disagree. If guys are brought in to rush the passer and cannot (are you willing to bet the Bucs will get double-digit sacks from anyone not named “McCoy” this year?), then, yes, they are thieving Team Glazer.

Like quarterbacks, only teams that are losers let effective edge rushers leave (coughMichaelBennettcough). If the lack of a pass rush combined with a shaky offensive line and a rookie quarterback finds the Bucs in the division cellar (again), it’s time for the Bolt for Bosa campaign.

I love GMC and everything, but shouldn’t every player in the NFL be exactly like this?? I mean if someone was like hey I will give you 6 million this year to do nothing but train and play football, I’m pretty sure I would spend every second dedicated to football.

  2. buc4life1979 Says:

Whoa, WAIT A MINUTE. How nice to run a story about THE BEST DT in the league needing help, when a guy who has 22 sacks the past 2 years was JUST ON THE MARKET LAST WEEK. And as I stated last week, He’d be willing to sign a vet minimum deal, WHICH HE DID IN WASHINGTON FOR A GM THAT STATED PUBLICY HE HAS NO RESERVATIONS ABOUT HAVING SIGNED HIM…Where was the cry for help then Joe?? We had our “face of the franchise” involved in the public pining for greg hardy’s piece of trash !@# services, but somehow Galette was worse?? PLEASE.

  3. Buccfan37 Says:

That player to replace the player who was let go for no good reason is on Lovie’s list, probably near the top. No one has struck his fancy yet, what with all the holes to fill. The woeful season many see oncoming should position the Bucs to get that player, I see the concern.

  4. Horice Says:

Well I vividly remember in the offseason #76 was just looking for a team to play on. And the male fans that wear skirts to games just went all nuts saying they didn’t want him on the field. Then the media members with skirts chimed in. I heard everything from he will miss 10 games (that didn’t come to pass), you already have one problem here (Americas QB who has been excellent to date), we need classy hole some Boy Scouts on our team not a woman beater. I personally commented on this here site as well as every other site I could about the so called Boy Scouts on all these playoff teams. Then this same guy #93 wanted #76 to help out here (and these male Girl Scouts went after him like he just beat his own wife). Me and my game day partner went as much as to Twitter Hardy and tell him how much we wanted him here. But my Bucs listened not to #93, they coward to the male Girl Scouts. Now here we are in hinesite view hoping Jack, Johnson, Gholston, or this newcomer they featured yesterday who just started playing 2 yrs ago will get double digit sacks….. PATHETIC I TELL YA, PATHETIC! Now you just watch if we fail to produce such a pass rusher, and 76 in 12 plus games for the cowgirls rips off 10 or more sacks. Or worst comes to Ray Jay and hits Americas QB 4 or 5 times (I hope not, but chances are he will line up against a rookie). Theses male Girl Scouts will crush their cookies screaming at all of these classy Boy Scouts who barely breathe on the QB. And 93 will have to comeback next year as the Incredible Hulk to achieve his vision… SMDH!

  5. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

It will come. Had to stack the offense for that fancy QB you wanted so badly, Joe. Only just so many moves to make.

  6. The Buc Realist Says:

The sad part of all this is that the other day Joe, thinks that lovie has to tip off his defense to get pressure on the worst O-line in the league, ( at the start of Training camp when the defense is supposed to be ahead of the offense anyways)!!!!!

This D-line is like Lovie’s job security, No Pressure!!!

  7. CAN'T FIX IT Says:

LOVIE DOVIE WILL BE GONE AT THE END OF THE YEAR AND O/C WILL TAKE HIS PLACE, THIS JUST SHOWS THAT SOME ONE DON’T KNOW WHAT THERE DOING !!!!!!!

  8. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Animosity Amigos Realist!! did you not hear the words of the owner Mr. Glazer last week. What you talking bout job security for? Lovie a lock in Hillsborough county homie.

  9. Canadian Buc Says:

Joe I love your website, but please, PLEASE! don’t ever mention Michael Bennett in the same sentence as Simeon ever ever ever again. Simeon Rice, today, would get more sacks from the edge than anyone we have. Michael Bennet is a trailer park version of Simeon. #97 deserves more respect than to be mentioned with trailer trash.

  10. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

You willing to bet some money on that ludicrous notion fix it? Man how it warms my heart the animosity you Animosity Amigos have for America’s Head Coach Lovie Smith.

  11. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Nos-Bos

I did hear what Mr. Glazer said. That all he expects is “growth” this year. And if the Bucs end up with 5 wins, they will applaud Lovie for the “growth” as there is no pressure to do well, be competitive, because the bar is now so low!!!

But because he was part of a defense almost 20 years ago, he will get pass after pass and you will allow the ” it takes time” to actually field a competitive NFL Roster!!!!

  12. drdneast Says:

A voice of reason from BucBonzai.
You can blame the prior regimes for the dearth of talent on both sides of the lines.
As for Jr. Gallette, you seem to forget and leave out a very important equation of the decision not to pursuit him Buc4Life1979.
First, Jr.. was charged with violence on a woman. In a separate incident, there is a video of Jr. Whipping another woman with a belt. Finally, the main reason he was let go was he became a malignant cancer in theockerroom and this behavior occurred after he was elected as team captain
With Hardy, the Bucs were pursuit in him, but once they found out they were only being used as a negotiating ploy, they backed out publicly which forced him to sign a less friendly contract.
I would have had no problems with either signing, but I don’t pretend to know as much as some of you pompous jackasses who send guess every move the Bucs make.
Also, 31 teams passed on Jr. And 30 on Hardy.
Time to put the Bennett mistake to bed, Joe. It was your Rock Star who made the decision along with Schiano.

  13. Leonard Scarnesi Says:

Please, please, please clueless JOE, shut up, as you put it, about Bennett. He isn’t much better than what we have. Seven sacks last year while playing full-time. Wow, how can the Bucs survive without that kind of production? We have a guy who got six and a half sacks in about half a season. Does either JOE have the last name Jackson? That would be priceless…Clueless JOE Jackson.

  14. Dick2111 Says:

Folks seem to feel that Joey Bosa will probably go in the Top-3 in the 2016 draft from what I’ve read Joe.

Falcons were the first team to draft this year that had a 6-10 record … and they drafted 8th.

Doubt we’ll see Joey Bosa if we win at least 6 games are you’ve predicted many times Joe. And I agree with you, Bucs will win at least 6 games this year, potentially as many as 10 IMHO.

Depends on a lot of factors will determine that as we all know, some of which coaches control, some they don’t. Injuries for one (Schiano’s teams here were riddled with injuries; probably had an impact on his record and departure). Team chemistry for another (how quickly our offense and defense gels). Lots of other factors as we all know.

Lovie’s going to be here for a long time I predict. He’s surrounding himself with good, hard-working people (coaches and players) and it’ll pay off … in time. Build primarily through the draft, develop and retain your better players, and continue to make steady progress. That’s the direction we’re now heading in. Alleleuia.

  15. Lord Cornelius Says:

Jack Smith had 6.5 sacks in 7 starts. Why does that not count as addressing the pass rush in any way late last year?? He paced for more sacks than anyone has had in recent memory including Bennett. Glass half full man. Oh and we signed George Johnson.

  16. JoeNUTS Says:

For those of you who think just Lovie’s job is safe, please remember the NFL stands for NOT FOR LONG. IMO the Glazers said the same type of preseason things about Schiano until it was obvious he was in over his head….wolves in sheep clothing. Glazers are really scum and to be frank should never be trusted….go study how they made their money in pharma. The only coach who had enough ego to keep them honest was Gruden. You heard it here first…in the next 5-7 years…the Glazers will be beating the new stadium drum and I hope Tampa tells them fine build it yourself. No more tax payer stadiums ever again.
If Lovie doesnt produce an 8 win season…his coaching seat will be on fire. I love how blind some of u BUCS fans are..hilarious and makes me giggle. Kinda like saying JW will set rookie records this year…..simply not gonna happen.

Final observation..funny how Bennet left for the money and went to a team who can no longer pay him…Hawks in cap hell thanks to over rated Wilson. I would have ditched him for anything more than 12-15MM per year; he is above average at best and his playoff stats and performances have been pretty bad. I think JW will be better than Wilson in 3-4 years. He has more tools and seems to want success badly.

  17. RustyRhinos Says:

I recall Mr Bennett having a shoulder injury when they let him leave, who knows if he had stayed that this injury would’ve gotten better or maybe gotten worse. Tough call ,I wondwr who would be having repeat after repeat of that fact about a player let go.

  18. Lord Cornelius Says:

Lol people who think the Seahawks win solely cuz of Lynch and the D are morons. Marshawn Lynch never even averaged over 4.2 ypc in a season until Wilson arrived. They’ve had a top 10 offense every year Wilson has been there after being a bottom 1/3 offense for years. He has had one of the top passer ratings every year and won a freaking super bowl already lol.

Not sure why everyone decided to hate him this year for getting paid but people are naturally born to hate more than not. His described relationship with God is pretty rediculous tho lol. But he’s a franchise QB all day

  19. Stanglassman Says:

    @1979
If the guy (JG) didn’t want to sign with a 4-3 team how are you going to make him? Until you can answer the question please stop the nonsense talk. Saying the Bucs could have got the guy for nothing but didn’t do it for whatever reason you make up doesn’t make it true.

  20. LargoBuc Says:

Mccoy is effective. He dosent need help, but a competent defensive end would be nice. Imagine having to game plan for Mccoy and an athletic six tech. Our defense would go from potentially good to great, maybe even elite if the secondary steps up.

  21. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

Actually LargoBuc we do. By having a DE dominant enough to force the qb up into the pocket it gives GMC a better chance of getting the sack. Plus by having two good rushing DEs will keep him from being double teamed so much. For the guys who say he disappears in the 4th you would too if you’re constantly getting doubled up because the ends can’t get past their one on ones. And Joe yes please stop bringing up Bennett because he’s not the greatest ever and you’re not going to bring him back.

  22. LakelandBuc Says:

Jack Smith, George Johnson, TJ Fatinikun, Larry English should be our edge rushers. They are small undersized and quick off the edge, put them with the speed and quickness of our DT’S. And our speedy Linebackers, I see a lot of disruptions. George Johnson should be our one and only big DE, the rest should be low and quick. It’s tough for a big tackle to get low for these players. And Jamal Young should be on the practice squad.
