“It’s Like Your Wife’s Spending”

August 26th, 2015

Koetter 2The Buccaneers and Dirk Koetter continue to hammer Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, with new plays and concepts.

The Bucs’ offensive coordinator has referenced this previously, but he confirmed it’s still going on today.

The intellectual ceiling for Jameis hasn’t been found, assuming it exists.

Yes, Koetter said simplifying things for preseason games is part of the deal but when the game is over it’s back to growing.

The Bucs will dial things back for Jameis and dive into more re-teaching and honing, Koetter told SiriusXM NFL Radio last week. “It’s like your wife’s spending,” Koetter said. “You can always trim it back but you can’t increase the budget.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Jameis performs once he is more relaxed and out of extreme learning mode.

I don’t really understand the analogy (my wife’s budget always increases), but I think I get what he’s saying.

  2. Cover deuce Says:

Not sure I get the analogy either Hawiian, mostly because it’s a poor analogy.

  3. James Walker Says:

That is actually sort of sexist, but..baaah I am not PC.

he lost me with that one..i even asked my wife to explain it and she was clueless..she replied..”what does his wife spending money have to do with jameis”..all I could do is laugh…GO BUCS!!!

I just think he’s saying he can throw less at Jameis whenever, but there’s going to be a point of information overload, his budget, and the constant variable that can’t be changed(but directly contradicts Joe’s “The intellectual ceiling for Jameis hasn’t been found, assuming it exists.” statement)… If that’s not it, I’m lost too.

I am happy to hear this.

Football (at least for now before rule changes turn it into Flag Football) is a violent sport.

Jameis is a competitor, a gunslinger. That is what makes him exciting to watch. I remember shortly after we drafted him all the talk about how the coaching staff was going to put him in a tiny box. He needs to have a 24hr a day mentor/babysitter.

Fast forward a few months and we are a few weeks from the start of the season. Since he has been drafted, he has been a model citizen off the field. And has looked very promising on the field.

    He is not being babysitted.
And it looks like the coaching staff is not going to muffle his playing style.

I am thrilled. Can he get hurt? Yup…..but that’s football for ya.

Hmmm… I think that Licht quote probably makes sense in the original German.
