How Much Will Jameis Play?

Bucs GM sheds light.

Joe is getting hammered with this question the past two days or so and sorry, Joe doesn’t have a specific answer because Bucs coach Lovie Smith doesn’t even know for sure.

“How long with Jameis play?”

All Joe knows for sure is “America’s Quarterback” will start. After that, it depends how the game flows. Joe is sure Lovie has an idea, but again, it depends how the game transpires.

But Bucs general manager Jason Licht gave viewers a hint during the Bucs pregame show on WFLA-TV Channel 8. Speaking live from TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota, Licht said Jameis will play “most of the first half if not the entire first half.”

So there you have it folks, roughly a half-hour before kickoff. You won’t get a more specific answer tonight. So tune in and watch and find out like the rest of Bucs fandom.

Play him as much as possible…..get him as many snaps as you can in preseason….it’s not like the other two need the reps.
I’d like to see how our backups play with him….Oline & WRs….

  15. NYbucsfan Says:

I really wanted Winston to make a few plays but really looked as bad as you could play.

  16. SuperSam Says:

Pathetic absolutely pathetic Winston!!!!! This is your guy Joe!? Can we call up Josh McCown please!! You better start thinking of a new name Joe, Americas Quarterback?? ppfffffttt

  17. Buccfan37 Says:

Halftime, Dotson going down not good. The Bucs didn’t play that bad overall. Minnesota, a game in hand is clearly the better team, should contend in NFC North. Bucs will get better as the games progress. Jameis played OK. Let’s see the giraffe.

  18. SuperSam Says:

    BOOOOOO!!!!

  19. SuperSam Says:

What quarterback can we get with the first pick next year?? How ironic the Lovie didn’t want a running quarterback and yet the best play Winston made all game was with his legs! BOOOOOO!

  20. jeff Says:

I did like the running touchdown there was some good stuff there

  21. Atrain Says:

Winston started playing when the 2nd team Defense came in…

What did Winston do first Quarter
What did Mariota do first Quarter

  22. SuperSam Says:

Defense looks worse than Winston, and that’s saying something.

  23. jeff Says:

this is why camp reports mean nothing bucs return game looks slow

  24. SuperSam Says:

Gonna be a Long Long Long year. I hope Lovie is only renting his house, he might be relocating soon.

  25. Tampa Tony Says:

Not worried about Jameis but the D looks awful!

  26. Atrain Says:

How come no one is worried about Winston?
He looked horrible…Don’t give first game nervous BS
Mariota did Good..Winston looked horrible against 1st team.

  27. Tampa Tony Says:

Not worried about Jameis as he’s a rookie, no one wants to hear it but rookie qbs on bad teams typically struggle. He’s a smart player and will learn from his mistakes.

2 bad snaps aren’t on Winston neither is the Jackson drop and on the INT Evans was being held. I can assume Winston was trying to throw open his receiver and Evans couldn’t get there as he was being held.

Can’t over react to one half of a pre season game

  28. bee Says:

It’s so funny to see people overreact to 2 quarters of preseason football. Remember the Vikings played a game already. Relax. It’s gonna take a while for this team to gel. The offense looks good. So much better than last year. Herron looked good. But that O-line has me worried. But Winston will be fine. That throw to Jackson for 40 yards was amazing. It’s not the end of the world.

    Murphy and Melton looked good…
