Josh Freeman Cut Again

July 24th, 2015

greg schiano and josh freemanFormer Bucs franchise quarterback leaky, sleepy Josh Freeman is homeless again.

And to think Josh McCown has job security!

Which would you bet on if you had one game to win?

The Dolphins announced they cut Freeman today. The 27-year-old was with Miami all spring and seemed to be a model teammate. Joe was even keeping track of spring practice reports, and Freeman had his share of shining moments.

Freeman was released by the Giants last spring and sat out all of the 2014 season.

Joe expects Falcons assistant head coach Raheem Morris to lobby to reunite with “Free.” That doesn’t mean Raheem will be taken seriously. But perhaps the Falcons would like some training-camp competition for shaky backup T.J. Yates.

  1. Aristotle Says:

Why did Freeman stop running/scrambling after his 2010 season…. that should be the main investigation

  2. StPeteBucsFan Says:

What a pic. Trying to ruin our appetites for dinner Joe.

Schiano staring at Free like…THIS is what I have to work with.

And so who was worse? Schiano as a Coach or Free as an NFL player.
    That’s a tough call!!!

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

To me, you can be a bust, Even get lazy after a big contract, or sometimes things just do not match and work out. But it is totally different to try and drag everyone down with you on the way out, Its the Lies and slander of this man that makes me wish that J-Fro 6 pak will hit rock bottom and nothing but failure in his life!

The Hawk had class and thanked the fans after he was traded. I have never hear Freeman ever thank anyone for all the chance and cover ups of his epic failure of a career!!!

There were a lot of fines and cover ups of Jfro drunk and late to practice in 2011!!! we want the Truth!!!

  4. WS99 Says:

If I had one game win I’d pick schiano over smith. All day Monday Thursday and twice on Sunday. Schiano didn’t work out cuz he was surrounded by ice cream superstars. Outside of what he brought in from Rutgers and that one guy from Nebraska his brand of football was too HAM for our mr. Softees.

And just so I’m clear that would be mr freeman who should feel at home on south beach. Mr revis who is not too far removed either, curious how you never see him with a women but rather his manager draped around his arm and of course mr first quarter pro bowler himself.

But hey lovie will lead us to the promise land in about 15 years.

  5. Buccfan37 Says:

Freeman melted down with the Bucs for who knows what reason, at least now he can handle competition. His Buc record setting year was special, though he really wasn’t worthy of a first round pick, imo. Good luck Josh in the future.

  6. Buc1987 Says:

Clearly Schiano MUST have made a phone call to the Dolphins…

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

    @buc1987

either that or, they had a morning practice one time at their OTA’s

  8. Buc1987 Says:

Buccfan37…given our lack of successful QB’s. It’s not too hard to set franchise records. Atleast that’s what the Freeman bashers used to tell me when I defended the assclown. In hindsight they do have a good point.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

Realist….yep I’m going with your call on that one.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Freeman is history, gone, departed, terminated, through, finished, vanished, elsewhere, SYONARA, ADIOS, AU-REVOIR, Auf WIEDERSHEN, CHEERIO, ADJO, ANTIO, DO SVIDANIYA, HASTA LA VISTA, BYE-BYE…. SO LONG Of course, Schiano would say CAIO!!!

  11. Buc1987 Says:

How’s everyone enjoying the rain out there today? Holy crap is it ever going to stop? Pasco is practically under water, I think I just saw a fish swim by my front window.

Watch out St Pete I just saw the radar you’re going to get rocked again in about 5 minutes or so.

    Crazy!

  12. The Buc Realist Says:

Its just been off and on in St.pete. If you flood out Buc1987 I can get my boat in the water in about 10 minutes. it only holds 7 though. But I have enough life jackets!!!

  13. The Buc Realist Says:

Whoa!!! scratch the rescue boat, That was some serious Thunder and Lightning!!!!!!

  14. Buc1987 Says:

LOL We might need you Realist kids are swimming on my street. Or what used to be a street. I think I might go up to the roof and drop a few lines in the water, maybe catch some lunch for tomorrow.

You might be able to just come up the Gulf, make a right turn and head right into town if it doesn’t stop soon. Just pull right up to our house and we’ll climb aboard.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

LOL I told you it was coming. I saw the radar. It wasn’t red. It was purple.

  16. Tampa Tony Says:

Dude is better than McClown. But is a head case and is unreliable. Thanks for 2010 and 2012 Freeman those were fun years to watch the Bucs offense. Maybe Winston and create that every year

  17. tmaxcon Says:

Freeman could still hang 21 on Lovies passive defense

  18. Buc1987 Says:

    lol tmax

  19. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    87 and Realist

You guys are going to make me feel guilty. Just retired last month and I’m up on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula staring out at Lake Superior.

We are beotching because our overnight low will only reach mid 60’s instead of the normal mid 50’s. Just livin the life.

Thank heavens for DirectTV and the NFL ticket. Won’t miss any Bucs games and when I return I plan to help out on some of the single game ticket sales.

My neighbor across the street retired three years before me and used to say how much he recommended retirement. No sheeet Dick Tracy! It’s pretty damn sweet. I have the luck of the irish for sure.

  20. Buc-A-New Says:

I CAN NOT Believe that OUR Franchise leader in Passing yards is Cut yet again at less then 30 yrs old. Sad truth that us old folks come to deal with so often as Bucs fans.

  21. The Buc Realist Says:

That 4000 yards was not all that big of a deal, 2012 was very weird with the offensive rule changes, I think there were 18 QBs that were over the 3500 yard mark and 2 that made it over 5000 yards.

It was just arena football that year!!!

  22. BlogTalkFootball Says:

On another note, Schiano is now acting like Ray Rice’s agent… Calling teams and trying to land him a gig. Would the Bucs make room for him?

  23. warren Says:

Beginning to hate the haters on here. Calling yourself a “Realist” doesn’t make your opinion more valid…in fact it makes you look like an arrogant know-it-all in my book, when you’ve been wrong many a time just like anyone else on here.

Go Josh…hope you catch on somewhere. There are still a bunch of us Buc fans out there who know you’ve got a huge amount of talent and when the time is right you will shine again. Screw these guys man…probably haven’t amounted to a hill of beans in their lives. For the record…I believe the same (to a lesser degree) about Glennon. He will be a very effective starter somewhere within a year or two…just not with us.

  24. Buc1987 Says:

warren…actually Realist is usually right about 85% of the time. You don’t have to like it though.

So let’s see. Josh was a Buc, then a Viking, then a Giant, and then a Dolphin. Even Tim Tebow has a job right now.

He’s no longer a Buc and never took us to the playoffs or anything. Where’s the allegiance to Freeman coming from? Are you his alleged drug dealer or something?

  25. Buc1987 Says:

Freeman also trashed our team on the way out….

  26. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Aristotle Says
“Why did Freeman stop running/scrambling after his 2010 season…. that should be the main investigation”

I would think that would be obvious. To make him a better passer. And it actually worked.

Josh’s self destruction is what ruined his career. Maybe was medically driven, maybe not. But that’s the truth of it. He was on his way to a 5,000 yard season.

It’s a real shame is what it is. But no point in blaming anyone else for it.

    …………………..
LOL……I stated something similar to this the other night. Joe wanted to put college stats as to why JW would succeed. TT had a better passer rating and threw less picks in FOUR years than JW did in One. And what is TT doing now???????

  31. Buc-A-New Says:

I have been here for a bit over three years 85 but have lost my original username and am forced to use this one. WS and Realist have different views often so to hear you say that is different. I know that since I have seen you here you always speak from the heart Imo.

  51. Buc1987 Says:

It just seems to me that TC came much faster last season. I don’t know why.

  79. Buc1987 Says:

tickrdr…it’s very simple. Your a stats kind of guy like LUV is. I’m more of an “IT” factor guy. I never saw “IT in any of those 5 guys you posted. Perhaps Ward only because I’m biased, but I think Jameis has a helluva lot more “IT” than Ward ever did.

  80. Buc1987 Says:

I also realize that it’s a team sport. So I never take into account Winston’s W/L numbers like some posters do. You’ll never see me talking about how he only lost 1 game in college and stuff like that.

  81. Buc1987 Says:

I’ve just seen Winston reel off these clips of 6 for 6 and 8 for 9 too many times. When he heats up, it’s something special to watch. That’s what I mean by “IT”.

  82. BucsFan85 Says:

W/L dont mean everything, obviously mean outcome in the season, but there is so much more

  83. Buc-A-New Says:

I believe all he is saying 87, is you have to be a fool to turn a blind eye.?

  84. BucsFan85 Says:

  85. Buc-A-New Says:

I think the Bottom line is that Tim Tebow and Danny W won a Heisman and TT won Two NCs, and where are they?
Supposition on JW is all good and I PRAY it is correct. However……………

  86. Buc-A-New Says:

Hey 85. is the “85” when you became a Bucs fan?

  87. Buc1987 Says:

Buc…not if you were never all that impressed with the five guys mentioned you can be a fool all you want. I LOVE college ball more than Pro. So I’ve watched all those guys. Frazier and Tebow were phenomenal athletes in college. Leinart was surrounded by talent (just like Jameis) Waffle was too small for the NFL. Charlie could have played NFL, but opted for basketball so we will never know about him.

  88. Couch Fan Says:

None of us really know how good or bad Winston will be. But there is no question he’s the most talented QB we’ve ever drafted in my opinion. He also has stats, w/l record, and awards to back it up. He has everything you want in a QB. I’m staying positive and hoping this is finally the right guy for us.

  110. tickrdr Says:

Well, as mentioned previously, some of the “IT” factor comes from having by far the best team surrounding you (29 FSU players drafted by the NFL over the last three years) as well as Dalvin Cook AVERAGING 9.6 yds a carry in those games when FSU was trailing. Nevertheless I’ll be rooting for Jameis and the Bucs, just as I have in the past. My daughter still laughs at me for giving Josh Freeman a
one-man standing ovation for getting the Bucs their first first down late in the third quarter of a home game I believe in his rookie season. The Bucs were so bad that it came on a late hit penalty when Freeman scrambled out of bounds.
But I’ve also been at RJS when Freeman threw FIVE TDs in one game! So, I’ll be there this year as well, hollering my head off so bad that by Wednesday, I’ve lost my voice and can barely speak to my patients. I definitely admit that I am a stats nerd, but IMHO, there aren’t many ways to judge outcomes without them. I know everyone wants to judge only on W/L record, but as 87 stated, it’s a team game as well, and the Bucs teams have been abysmal lately.

Maybe I just think to much but after the awesome 2010 season we had and Freeman was playing amazing football, something happened something changed and it’s something a lot of people didn’t even bat an eye at. We released Carnell Williams!! I truly believe he had a lot to do with Freeman’s success in 2010, he was our third down back and I think I read somewhere he was also in charge of protection calls and always had Freeman’s back. I can’t help but think that had a lot to do with it.
