New WR Kaelin Clay Was A Tedford Man

May 2nd, 2015

clayTampa Bay sixth-round pick Kaelin Clay had a long, rough road to the NFL.

There’s a reason why he’s only got one season of major college statistics, all from the University of Utah.

Clay was a recruit of former Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford to “Cal.” During a redshirt season of 2010, he was named co-scout team player of the year on special teams. Things were looking up but he was injured for the 2011 season.

Clay found himself next at a junior college for the next two season, commuting a long way each day to Mount San Antonio College, per the Salt Lake Tribune.

His season at Utah last year was his first, and he made the most of it as a Pac-12 punt returner.

The California high school track star now becomes the Bucs’ next great returner hope.
