  1. P'cola Buc Says:

Jameis handled those questions with poise and confidence. Kept it positive, kept it real. Excellent qualities to have as our QB1!

  2. pick6 Says:

having 8 months to think about a single rookie in the draft is a cruel cruel thing. at this point, if he is not an all time great and our first truly elite player at the position in 40 years of Buc history, it just might crush my spirit in a way all the losing up to now had not been able to. No pressure, Jameis

  3. pick6 Says:

i’m glad the NFL\ESPN marketing machine is finally starting to acknowledge that this kid is a #1 pick and likely to be one of the best-known faces of the league soon, and they need to tell the whole story about what he bring to a football team. for the past year, throwing JW under the bus (even with totally false allegations like point shaving and selling autographs) has been the way to get clicks on those sites.

  4. rayjay1122 Says:

I just heard that the Bucs have gone all in on Mariota. They apparently dug up some new negative information on Winston. Speculation is that they are going to try to trade back and still get Mariota…….April Fools!!!

  5. Eric Says:

As a demonstration of the bias, one need look no further to the different treatment of James not going to the draft vs. Marcus not going to the draft.

But in the end its all moot as it sure looks like the bucs are drafting him.

  6. Tom Edrington Says:

It’s not Jameis’ world and I’m no passenger on his whatever it is…..

The guy’s done ZERO as a professional…….better act like one…..

Right now he sounds like a professional clown….

  7. Tom Edrington Says:

I can still hear Angelo Dundee screaming at Ali during the first Frazier fight:

    “You’re blowin’ it kid!!!!!”

  8. TheDon Says:

I Love this kid. Dont sweat the haters.

    Bob Kraft:
“I still have the image of Tom Brady coming down the old Foxboro stadium steps with that pizza box under his arm, a skinny beanpole, and when he introduced himself to me and said ‘Hi Mr. Kraft,’ he was about to say who he was, but I said ‘I know who you are, you’re Tom Brady. You’re our sixth round draft choice,’” recalled Kraft. “And he looked me in the eye and said ‘I’m the best decision this organization has ever made.’ It looks like he could be right.

Yeah, what a professional clown that Tom Brady was…….

And NFL defensI’ve players will be eager to remind him that this is not his world but the NFL.

    @Eric

Excellent point. I bet the grandmother news had a few media personnel squirming in their shoes yesterday.

  12. Tom Edrington Says:

    @Love and WD

That was Brady telling ONE MAN…..

Jameis is telling everyone who will listen, it’s apparent he’s a total LOOK AT ME guy…..

  13. TheShaz Says:

Watched most of the Pro Day and the interview afterwards.

He needs to work on throwing out of the pocket, but game film shows that in crunch time he can do it and do it well. Red Zone, he was lights out.

Interview: Supreme confidence, even discussing his errors. I was blown away on how with exact detail you can recall each interception, the play that was called and the defense that was arrayed against him. The kid knows his X’s & O’s.

Kurt Warner was sold, the guy in the middle, you could tell HATED Jameis and did not hide it at all. The chick on the left was neutral.

There was one part of the interview that got me. He mentioned how being a black kid in Alabama playing QB, they all expect him to be the prototypical Mike Vick scrambling machine. He said he didn’t want that. He wanted to be like Cunningham when he was with the Vikings, Warren Moon or Peyton Manning….win with brains and arm.

    **** I’M SOLD****

DVR’d the Game Changers on the NFL Channel last night and watched it as well. I saw the whiteboard part on YouTube, again X’s and O’s the kid has it down pat.

It got be daydreaming of the Bucs with a top 5 offense….never happened before, makes you think of a alternate universe and Spock with a beard.

  14. Nick Says:

    @Tom Edrington

So were Namath and Bradshaw. And that was during a time when there wasn’t live coverage of their pro days (if such a thing existed then). What part of the current media/social construct would say anything other than “look at the quarterback”.

  15. Bryce Says:

Okay here we go state what you would do with the first overall pick.Example Winston Mariota or trade down.Trade down.

That was a 6th round pick telling the OWNER of the team.

I want my QB to believe he is the best. He’s not the guy I want to drink beer with or lead the local cub scout pack. He’s the leader of entire group of alpha males who are expected to go to battle against another team of alpha males. These are the de facto gladiators of our modern times. I expect them to be supremely confident.

    Winston is coming to Tampa.

The only thing all of these Winston FANS better do now is be there IF he fails..

No one knows what he will do.. I honestly think he will fall. I think his Ego will get the best of him. However I maybe wrong.

I will BE A FAN OF THE BUCS>..!!!

  19. pick6 Says:

Tom Edrington, i hope the whole league spends lots of time looking at Jameis Winston in a bucs jersey. This is the same swagger warren sapp brought to a downtrodden franchise nigh on 20 years ago. the talent and hard work of many other guys went into that success, but the swagger? the backbone? warren sapp installed that, and for the first 2 seasons he looked like a lunatic for saying and feeling what he did. There was a confidence that team had to go through the offensive woes it did, start most seasons 3-4, and find another gear to make it to the postseason more often than not. The teams of the last 10 years have not had the character or confidence to turn a bad start into a good game or good season

  20. Tiny Tim Says:

Where are all the winston bashers who bashed him for possibly skipping the draft? Face of the franchise should be there blah blah blah…they said. Now we learn Mariota is not going. Go ahead bash him now. No wait thats not going to happen. Those same lunatics wanted Hardy but not winston. Those same lunatics are okay with mariota missing the draft but not winston. The hypocrisy!!!

  21. MadMax Says:

“Id rather deal with the pressure than my teammates”

While I know we’re drafting him, he’s going to need to realize this logic is a trait that can get him in trouble. Pressure is on everyone. While its a leadership trait, it can also be a flaw and a hindrance. He’ll have to learn to work within the parameters and factors that he cant control and just do his best…..especially his rookie year. Thats why I hope he sits a while.

  22. 87LikesFreeJerseys Says:

Ignore the haters. Ignore the haters. Ignore the haters. Keep calm Buc1987.

    But I keep cruising
    Can’t stop, won’t stop moving
It’s like I got this music
In my mind, saying it’s gonna be alright
Cause the players gonna play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate
Baby I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake
    Shake it off

  23. Tom Edrington Says:

    @pick6:

Sapp was good because he was surrounded by Hall of Fame calibre teammates…..

Sapp wasn’t running his mouth as a rookie…..he got a bit more bold once they started winning……

  24. Wausa Says:

This is a very easy and obvious decision for the Bucs. I can’t wait for the Bucs to draft Jameis later this month.

    —————————

This is obviously someone who does not have a clue what he is talking about. The story goes in 1996 (sapp’s second year) bucs at the time was very sorry and chris berman called us the yucks on national tv before we were set to play the chargers in san diego. Sapp went to breakfast where the team was eating and asked the entire team……tell me you heard what I just heard? Tell me you heard what I just heard? He continued….. This $h!% ends today!!!!!! The bucs went on to beat san diego that day and won 4 of their last 6 games to finish the season 6-10. The rest is history. So your assertion that sapp was not backbone or he was good because his supporting cast is ludicrous. We were lucky he had a failed drug test for him to fall out of the top 3 in the draft. He is from the U. He was always running his mouth. Learn your history young grass hopper

So, you were able to ascertain this how? He was an All-American at Miami and on the Florida HS Association All-Century team.

Some people just can’t give credit where it’s due. Is Sapp an a-hole off the field? Sure. But, to say he wasn’t great on the field is just patently false.

  27. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Meh…good headline to generate hits and thread action, but I’ll sit tight in the Holding Out For A Trade Mob or Leonard Williams Is The Pick Gang. We all have our own ranking of Bucs immediate needs I guess (mine stemming from I think Glennon can get it done and drafting a guy like Hundley or Petty in rounds 3 or 4 for backup/development is the smart play)

  28. TheDon Says:

Tom edrington in here making a foool out of himself

  29. BoltIsle Says:

First time I have ever heard Sapp referred to as not running his mouth. He’s never shut up since in the Gables.

If JW was an egomaniacal teammate as some here like to allude to, there would have been numerous “anonymous” sources talking about it. Small things like introducing his receivers to everyone are why he gets a lot of love in the locker room.

Agreed. He said he threw 100 balls because he had a lot of receivers and he wanted to make sure they had the opportunity to show what they can do to the scouts that were in attendance. Yea, jameis is a horrible teammate.

Did someone who claims to be a Bucs fan seriously just write this??? Was that an April fools statement? Nothing could be further from the truth, and it’s insulting that you would try to pass that off as truth just to win an argument you obviously already lost. Know when to give up, because what you just said shows what you are all about – hating Jameis. You are probably going to be a very salty man in a few weeks.
