    @ Joe,
Should’ve combined Mariotta and Winston in a “Draft Franchise QB” selection….I WILL remain a fan as long as either one of those two are donning a Bucs uni in 27 days…but who to draft over the other??? Jameis sure makes selecting him seem like THE most enticing and common sense thing to do, he’s always backed up his bravado with his play, however in Winston’s own words, Mariotta’s a “quiet producer.” Kid doesn’t need bravado, all’s he’s done since he started playing was go out and produce, minus the mouth and “personality”….Personally, I love Winston’s fire, but the biggest fires ALWAYS burn out the quickest…THAT’S my biggest concern with him…How raging will his fire still be 5 years from now??? Where was Freeman’s fire after 5 years?? Course, guess you could make the argument that Freeman never had any fire to begin with.

  3. ColoradoBuc Says:

Bring on the heat! At least it should be fun while he’s burning it up.

  4. Skyline Crew Says:

“Mariota is widely considered to be the consensus No. 2 quarterback in the 2015 NFL Draft, and many scouts, coaches and personnel folks have started to regard the Ducks star as not that far behind likely No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston.” -NFL

  5. you can't fix it Says:

I DON’T BELIEVE WINSTON IS THAT FAR AHEAD OF MARITOA, THIS IS BULL CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Skyline Crew Says:

“The Jets aren’t the only team to show enough interest to schedule a private workout with Mariota. NFL Media’s Albert Breer reported Saturday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will work out Mariota on April 7, the San Diego Chargers are set to work out Mariota on April 15, and the Washington Redskins are also setting up a visit for Mariota in Ashburn, Va.”

Too bad it is a private workout. Would love to be in Ashburn when he is here.

  8. Supersam Says:

It’s funny cuz bucsnation did one recently and it was 54 to 50 in favor of Mariota, and Buccaneers.com did one and it was slightly favored in Mariota as well, amd now this one is a landslide? Lol hmm makes u wonder what’s going on behind the scenes at JOEbucsfan

  9. tmaxcon Says:

    Supersam

fools like you with nothing better to do can vote multiple times on those other polls. every poll can be spoofed or gotten around ip restrictions a 3rd grade student can do that but those polls don’t even attempt to prevent multiple people from voting.

accept reality sir… order your winston jersey.

  10. Supersam Says:

@Tmaxcon id rather where a Michael Sam jersey and walk backwards through a cornfield holding your moms hand before I’d be caught dead in a Winston jersey, don’t be mad cuz I state the facts. Every other website favors Mariota, Tampa wants Mariota. Deal with it!!!

  11. Couch Fan Says:

The second Winston Jerseys go up for sale, I’m getting one. Never had a Bucs QB worthy of buying his jersey before. Can’t wait!

  12. Skyline Crew Says:

    @tmax

You can’t vote multiple time on the Bucs official site. It tells you that they already counted your vote. Nice try though.

  15. Skyline Crew Says:

But you can’t on the official Bucs website and they are pretty close.

  16. Dan Says:

    Tmax,

No. You can easily vote multiple times here. All you have to do is delete JBF from your browser history and the poll resets. This poll is horribly rigged.

Sure, like all kinds of people are taking the time to clear their cookies and history to reset the poll. Don’t be silly. –Joe

  17. Dan Says:

Joes are trying to feed the propaganda machine. Best way to win a war is to dominate the propaganda. I call BS on this poll. It’s vastly different than every other poll out there. Then again, Joe crams Winston down our throats on here.

  19. 87SizeXLCreamsicle! Says:

Robert…go tell that to the Dolphins.

  20. WalkdaPlank Says:

What is the point of having this poll? A Lovie confidence poll would’ve made more sense. Joe has force fed Winston articles and propaganda this site is a breeding ground for Winston jock riders. Not saying I don’t want Winston or don’t like him, but these results are not even questionable on what they will turn out to be.

    MIDDLE LINEBACKER

    QUARTERBACK
    OFFENSIVE TACKLE
    OFFENSIVE GUARD
    CENTER

    PUNTER
    KICK RETURNER/WIDE RECEIVER

A little reality for the situation. No true starters signed yet. Nothing but depth signings.

11 needs. 8 picks. Less than 50% successful average for most teams in the draft. That means 4 starters in the draft at best. Leaving 7 needs. Filled with injury prone scrubs.

Come on…do they really expect to sell tickets or even entice us to watch this year?

  23. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

In case you didn’t notice, that is HALF the starters required to play the game.

  24. bucrightoff Says:

This poll seems rather pointless at this point. The owner of the site and vast majority of commenter’s have made it quite clear I would think.

  25. Celly Says:

    @Buccaneer Bonzai

I responded to your post in the last thread, but i guess you’re done with that one……

    ————————–

While I will agree that those are some needs that need to be filed, I don’t necessarily agree on all of them. Let me explain…

I don’t think we need 2 DEs. 1, definitely, but not 2. At some point, we have to give the guys on the roster a chance to compete and be “that guy”. We’ve gotten rid of people that Lovie/Licht belived can’t be “that guy” (Johnson, Clayborne).

Agree, we need both safety spots filled. I’m sure one will be drafted.

I think Carter can handle the “mike” role well. Just my personal opinion. And we already have guys on the roster that can handle the Sam.

QB will be addressed with the first pick.

I would say we need to upgrade 2 spots on the line (left tackle and RG). who’s to say that if we sign Wiz and he plays center, EDS can’t slide over RG and be more productive. Also, lets not forget the fact that there have been some pretty servicable linemen that have been taken from other teams’ practice squad (Penn, Donald).

As far as return men, that position could be filled with one person. As a matter of fact, i would prefer that.

With all that being said, every team in the league has a hole somewhere… And while i don’t expect all these holes to be filled in one draft/offseason, i still believe we’re headed in the right direction

  26. Harry Says:

This shouldn’t even be a question, except for a few of the crazy haters out there like Robert 9, Supersam, etc. every friggin mock draft has Winston going #1. If Joe did an IQ test to restrict dumb, hater type comments, we would not have to read such garbage.

  27. SteveK Says:

    Celly,

I saw you rip Robert9 earlier this week for posting inaccurate information about the Rams/Eagles trade.

Please take the time to spell the players names’ correctly, it’s Adrian Clayborn, not Clayborne. 🙂

The other Buc name that gets butchered is Ronde Barber.

    Thanks!

On another point, I disagree with you whole heartedly. We need 2 DEs minimum. It’s been 9 long years since a Buc got 10 sacks in a season, and for Lovie ball to work you must have a pass rush.

  28. ATrain Says:

    Hahaah

  29. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Celly, you are mistaken on most of your points.

  30. charactermatters Says:

    Harry,
I has nothing to do with it. History is littered with geniuses who disagreed with the consensus opinion. At the same time, one can be a genius and still know little about football talent evaluation. Chances are almost as likely that an idiot will choose the right side as a genius. Questioning the intelligence of someone who wants something different than the consensus is ridiculous. It’s not like they are advocating for someone who has little chance to succeed in the NFL. Even the so called experts are wrong more often than they’re right. To be honest no one knows which quarterback will be more successful. NO ONE!

  31. charactermatters Says:

I Q has nothing to do with it.^^^

  32. robert 9 Says:

DE, OT, OG, MLB, and S

we need to fill these holes.

Trade back and we could potentially make that happen.

  33. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    robert 9

No it could not. You really think, for one thing, that Licht could get us any picks worth getting? That man is the master of getting 6th and 7th rounders only, with maybe one exception.

Secondly, most teams do not even hit on 50% of their draft picks. Licht proved last year (which he admitted it was on him) that he cannot spot talent. HE blew free agency.

He’s done it again this year. In his fear of signing bad players, he’s avoided going after the few good ones.

He hasn’t signed one valid starter yet in this free agency.

So what if we trade down? Knowing Licht, we’ll move down 10 spaces and get just a couple 6th and 7th rounders for it. Next year. This team is screwed as long as Licht is running things.

And going OT in round 2 will not fix much. The BPA would likely be Eric Kendricks at that point, who plays MLB.

Even if we take OT, then OG or Center, big deal. They won’t be worthy starters this year for sure. At best, maybe next year.

The only good news is we might have a high pick again next year.

I cannot help but see the similarities to the dumping of the Oline last year to the moves made this year. We all know how that worked out.

  34. Pat Says:

IQ taught someone really well with this rationale: “I think since my vaunted O-Line is leaving for the draft, I may as well leave with them.” My take/interpretation: Well, if I’m going to eat a lot of painful GRASS (like a cow), I better get paid for it, RIGHT?

  35. TheShaz Says:

I think the combination of his Pro Day, interviews and TV appearances did allot to change the public view of this kid.

His handlers are playing a smart game. His enthusiasm is contagious his football smarts come out in the interviews. I liked how he was able to recall in an instant his INT’s, remember the play that was called, the defensive formation & what went wrong. He did not throw his WR’s under the bus. He said on this he pushed to much, another he blamed himself for not teaching a young WR the scramble drill.

Mooch was impressed with his football IQ and so was Gruden.

Add it all up and it is obvious why people are getting on the Winston Bandwagon.

  36. 87SizeXLCreamsicle! Says:

Bonzai….how is it that you can grade Licht’s first draft after only season?

Should we not give those players at the very least 3 seasons to see how those players pan out? Or you don’t believe in such things?

Are they all supposed to shine in their rookie seasons or that makes them all busted picks?

Joe, it doesn’t take lots of people. Just one crazy fanboy with nothing else to do today. That’s not an unrealistic scenerio. And don’t pretend like deleting your browser history is difficult.

<strong>Who said it’s difficult? But highly unlikely. And even if someone did that 100 times, it wouldn’t make a huge dent. –Joe

  39. 87SizeXLCreamsicle! Says:

Joe they will try and come up with anything they can to make it look like Mariota’s still in this race.

When he drops like a rock on draft day…..the light bulb might come on then.

Even if there were a few fans clearing their browsers. The poll doesn’t matter. All they have to do is look ALLLLLLLLL around the net and everyone is saying Winston’s the pick…even that’s not good enough for them.

They will tell you all 150 “experts” that are saying it are just guessing and they don’t know anymore than you or I do. It gives them something to hold onto I guess, but it’s certainly not reality.

If all these “experts” were saying the pick was going to be Mariota…they’d be in here saying that it’s a slam dunk, but it’s Winston. So they try to spin out of everything you throw at them. I call that denial.

  42. Dan Says:

    87SizeXLCreamsicle,

I’m on the side that thinks Winston will be the pick. I also think Mariota is the better pick. Fact of the matter is, with our current personnel, Winston fits better and Lovie doesn’t have the time to wait on Mariota. That said, every other poll around the internet has these 2 neck and neck. Yes, it is a bit suspiscous this one is so extreme. Polls aren’t perfect (or even a good indicator in this case), mock drafts aren’t perfect. Can we all just stop referencing them please? It is stupid.

  43. 87SizeXLCreamsicle! Says:

Dan…we can reference mocks when they rarely get the first pick wrong…

Do you agree that they rarely get the first pick wrong?

Especially when they are all saying it’s Winston. How can they all be THAT wrong? Every….single….one….of…them?

  50. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @87

Well, you are asking me how I grade the actual draft, not the players themselves.

Jason Licht got rid of nearly the entire offensive line and failed to get OL with the first 3 picks. Heck, off all the needs we had, RB was not one, and he still took one.

If he had taken a OL guy in the third, or a DE or a MLB or a Safety, that would possibly be one less position of need this year.

We could have had a great QB last year, which would have freed up the first pick this year for that stud DE we need.

Mike Evans has, thus far, turned out okay. But he should not have been the pick.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins under performed, but I think he’ll work out in the long run.

Charles Sims was injured most of the year and he’s more useful in the passing game than as an actual running back.

Kadeem Edwards (OG) and Kevin Pamphile (OT) are, at best, long term developmental guys taken in the 5th round (and again, we could have gotten someone better in round 3)

    Robert Herron is horrible.

So out of 6 players, only one prove a hit, another (Jenkins) may well turn out to be a hit. That leaves 4 players that are either bust or developmental projects (and remember, we ‘don’t want Mariota because he is developmental, right?).

Only 1 of 6 of his picks as of right now, have proven anything, so after the one year mark, his grade is a FREAKING F. That might change in the next year or so, but until it does change for his 2014 picks, that’s what he gets.

  51. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

And mind you, Mike Evans looked great, but he has to prove he is not a one year wonder like all the other WR/RBs we draft in the first round.
