“This Isn’t A Smokescreen”

smokescreen

While this video doesn’t offer anything new, good guy Peter Schrager of Fox Sports did talk Bucs and offer a juicy tidbit via this stand-up at the NFL Owners Meetings in Phoenix yesterday.

The one element Schrager unearthed is that Bucs general manager told Schrager he met with Florida State quarterback more than once or twice. Therefore, Schrager said, he doesn’t smell smoke in any way.

Erik is buying ’87 a jersey!!

  2. miken Says:

I think it is jameis. I’m not sure i like it, but thats who its going to be. I will say this, no matter how much you love the kid, if he plays behind the same O Line as last year, he will really really struggle. I know we still have the draft, but last years crew and a few rookies will be bad news.

  3. Hawaiian Buc Says:

We didn’t play our backups against the Saints to take Leonard Williams.

  4. Clint Says:

    Think it’s Jameis?

    Ya think?

  5. Supersam Says:

Old news, what I think is funny is that yesterday Lovie said that ” no one will out work this guy” meaning Jameis Winston. I just read an article today at bucsnation and guess what Lovie said? “No one is working harder than Mile Glennon” the dude is full of lies and smoke and Mirrors. You winston lovers are in for a shock come draft day.

  7. Supersam Says:

I kinda remember Lovie saying he was ” very comfortable” with Darrell Revis in his defense. Hahaha how’d that turn out?

  8. Joe Says:

    Good point.

  9. Pickgrin Says:

Sam – Here’s hoping you just slink away and never come back after Winston is picked as our new QB. Please take barry and robert9 and NYBucsfan and Mr.Patrick/Time and a few other relentless JW haters with you.

I assume like many others though, you will just start posting under another name after the draft.

  10. Clint Says:

The Mariota backers are fixing themselves a hangman’s noose in their closets with their dress socks right now.

But hey – thanks for coming out!

  11. Joe Says:

Uh,huh. And blade-in-the-thigh Mike Williams. And Glennon was the QB of the future.

Joe sure as hell would not want to play poker against Lovie. Just cannot get a read on him.

Not sure why you feel this is smoke. Obviously you are not aware, but you can have two guys (if not more) that no one will work harder than. You see, if you and I both can move 100 boulders a piece in one hours time, then no one out work the other. We were equal in our working efforts. So if both GLennon and Winston put in the same time, then it is plausible that neither out worked the other. From all accounts, work ethic has never been either of these players concerns. Maybe you should really read and comprehend as oppose to trying to shoot down every positive article about Winston.

  13. Buc1987 Says:

Sam, you’re not even worth the time anymore. If your too slow to figure it out that’s your problem. The rest of us have moved on, even some Mariota backers, have moved on, because they know Winston’s the pick.

Florida school systems I tell ya….

  14. MadMax Says:

Ive been focused in on who our 2nd pick is….since the combine.

May as well be Cam Erving! He’ll probably be there in the bottom of the 1st….Use our 2 5ths to trade up for him.
3rd on DE Nate Orchard or Preston Smith.
4th on LT or G Ali Marpet
    6th on WR DeAndre Smelter
    7th on SS Ronald Martin

  15. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @ Supersam.

The way Lovie stated it; both statements could be true without conflict. It’d only be a contradiction if Winston was already on the Bucs. One is a future predictive statement (winston WILL outwork everyone else when he gets to NFL) while another is an assesment of a current situation (no one IS working harder than Glennon in NFL right now). Silly either way but just saying.

Also, him speaking positively on Revis wasn’t really a lie. His statements are just ambiguous enough that you can’t really read much from them a lot of times

At this point I just expect lovie to do the exact opposite of what he says. So I’m prepping for donate fowler. Lovie is going to have some explaining to do.

I worked with special needs kids for a couple of years…I tell ya some of these people might have been in my class.

  18. bucs4lyfe Says:

there is no point leaning towards one qb or the other, if your going to create any kind of smokescreen it would be about which quarterback you were going to take and all signs point to JW for a reason…..pay that man

  19. MadMax Says:

@87, when I was 20, I worked at a home and watched over special needs adults with behavior issues. A humbling but teaching experience. Glad I went through it. Many dont realize how much we really have in life that we take for granted. Good on you Bro for stepping up into such a role.

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

Lovie has been talking up Glennon since he was hired as coach. I too don’t know whether to believe him or not. I’m actually inclined to not put any reality into what comes out of Lovie’s lips. Life is so complicated.

Fantastic post Tiny Tim. Unfortunately the person it is intended for pep ably has the IQ of a Golden Retriever.

Lol – apparently the knowledge transplant didn’t take!

  23. Buc 1987 is slow Says:

Why would you tell everyone you are taking a certain player a month and half before the draft. It doesn’t my sense!!

  24. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Hey props to you guys who worked with special needs kids.

Honestly I’m surprised to learn that this blog actually has so many compassionate guys. Nice to read in a world that seems to be going nucking futs.

Nah, you don’t need to move up a few spots into round 1 to pick up an OLineman that might be there, and if not, there will be numerous other good OLinemen available. Ereck Flowers, La’El Collins, Andrus Peat, Jake Fisher, DJ Humpries are all on the 1st/2nd line… between them, Erving, and TJ Clemmings, whom I don’t like there should be probably three of them there.

  26. FortMyersDave Says:

Man Brandon, I really hope Andrus Peat slides to where the Bucs can nab him with the 34th pick. My fear would be that he would be the best player available starting day 2 and he flies off the board to TN or someone who trades up; but there will likely be a couple of talented OL-men who slip out of the 1st round where the Bucs can get some needed… It just occured to me that L&L could trade down in the 2nd round for more picks in day 3 or perhaps even an additional 3rd rounder; I could see the Bucs doing something like that and taking their chances that one of the guys targeted on their board slides a bit on day 2…. Risky as hell but the Bucs never seem to do the logical safe thing….
