The Underbelly Of Marinelli Rumors

Is there any weight to the Rod Marinelli-to-Bucs chatter?

Is there any weight to the Rod Marinelli-to-Bucs chatter?

Bucs fans erupted in glee when they learned, via the creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio, that Dallass defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli was expected to take a similar position with Tampa Bay.

A Bucs’ source, however, offered a curious “no comment” comment to Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.

And Lovie Smith offered a strong, terse response to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times; There was “no validity” to Florio’s report.

Joe isn’t so sure it is simple as that.

At any rate, in this TBO.com video, Olivia Stacey and Cummings discusses the possibility of Marinelli ending his coaching career in Tampa Bay.

DO IT. we need him. Desperately they need some fire in da belly

All this talk about Rod Marinelli. What about Leslie Frazier? nobody is talking about him leaving or being fired.

  3. Greg Schiano Says:

BREAKING NEWS: TEAM GLAZER FIRES LOVIE THE LOSER….HIRES ROD MARINELLI TO BE THE HC OF THE BUCS!!

JAMEIS WINSTON GETS DRAFTED #1 BY THE ARIZONA PENAL LEAGUE!!!

MARCUS MARIOTTA VOWS TO RETURN TO OREGON FOR HIS SENIOR YEAR TO AVOID PLAYING FOR TEAM LOVIE THE LOSER!!

Leslie Frazier coached the #25 defense in the league last year despite the last decade of the Buc’s draft being primarily defensive picks. Frazier has to go….Lovie Smith has to go. The Bucs were the 25th worst defense in the NFL under Lovie & Leslie (two very manly names for football coaches)!! Joe knows girls with more hair on their chests named Lovie and Leslie than our two coaches!!

If John Fox could be fired after a 46-18 record, four consecutive trips to the playoffs, a trip to the Superbowl just one year ago…what is the logical reason for keeping an uninspired, below average defensive talent with sub par time management skillls and absolutely no ability to evaluate talent!

Lovie Smith must go! There are so many good HC’s, young DC’s, and innovative OC’s available right now…give me 1 reason to keep Lovie Smith after a 2-14 record and his intentionally throwing the last game against the Saints! Fire Lovie Smith Now!

I am going to scream if I hear the Big Poodle yapping 1 more time about how Lovie can’t be fired after 1 uninspired losing season, not only should Lovie be fired, but if John Elway has the stones to fire John Fox after his 4 years and if the Niners let John Harbaugh go after even a better record, the Bucs fans should revolt if Lovie is given 1 more minute in Tampa Bay. Throw his no talent butt to the curb!!

    Greg Schiano

  4. Greg Schiano Says:

You wanted an update on Leslie Frazier…well he is a less talented (if that is really possible) clone of Lovie the Loser!

The Buc’s have given away more talent than Lovie has drafted/signed via free agency (Michael Bennett, Darrelle Revis, Aquib Talib, etc. etc.)

Lovie and Leslie should be coaching on Friday Night Tykes…Not the NFL!!

Hire a good coach! Rod Marinelli is a great choice!!

  5. R.O. Says:

No Comment because he is still under Contract. Doesn’t expire until the end of the week. You know that Joe. Wouldn’t want tampering charges against the Bucs would you? Need all our Draft Picks. Rod stays at Big D.

  6. ddneast Says:

Well Greg Schiano, as even as dull witted as you are, you must realize Lovie is not going anywhere and your constant rantings are not only tedious to read, but even worse they are dull and unoriginal.
BTW, I inow a guy named Kim who would love to have a discussion with you about how manly his name makes him.
Using logic like you used on Love and Leslie really shows what a complete imbecile you really are.

  7. Todd Says:

Rod is coming to tampa the end

  8. ddneast Says:

Your absolutely right RO. C’mom Joe, I’m sure you know about the rules of tampering in the NFL. We don’t need you to write like the National Enquirer to read these stories.

  9. bucs4lyfe Says:

    @Greg Schiano

We can tell you know nothing about football which is why you let Michael Bennett walk in free agency for Daquan Bowers

Fire lovie and hire the guy who coached the lions, one of the few teams to go 0-16 in NFL history? please stop talking, d coordinator and head coach are two different positions you do realize that right

  10. Ra'Shad Says:

Greg Schiana has nothing else better to do

  11. Dan A Says:

Marinelli signed an extension with the Cowgirls….. Frazier is what we have.

Sadly the seems to be true per ESPN.com. That ends any more conjecture or speculation on this subject.

  13. MadMax Says:

  14. IdahoBucsfan Says:

I Kinda have to agree with Schiano at this point! Lovie did the worst job using the talent on the team, that I have seen in Many years! Had Greg Schiano been here this year, there is No doubt in my mind that we would have won our division! Lovie Is a terrible coach.

  15. Brandon Says:

Two years of Greg Schiano made me think I couldn’t possibly hate that imbecile more than I already did. Then this Schiano wannabe comes along and proves me wrong.

  16. Zam Says:

Why is it that even when what Lovie says agrees with the facts, it feels like he’s lying?

  17. The Buc Realist Says:

I guess Lovie and Marinelli friendship did not win out! But this could even be a better plan for the two to work together. Since Marinelli has the better job security, he can hire Lovie as Linebacker coach next year.

  18. Joe Dunn Says:

    Zzzzzzzz

Wake me up when you have F A C T S about whether Rod is coming here.

  19. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Rod signed a 3 year deal to stay in Dallas. I hate it for our sakes. But I like Leslie Frazier. When Lovie finally let him start running our D toward the end of the season. They really started playing well as an unit. Drafting Williams would sure up our D instantly. We just need to figure out a way to get a QB by other means.

My dream scenario would be for Philly to offer us Foles and a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd this year and next year. Then take the #20 pick this year and maybe our 1st round pick in 2016 and try to move up to get Williams. That would give us a real QB, still have valuable assets in draft picks, and get the best possible DE to pair with GMC, McDonald, and Johnson. That would automatically help out our LBs and DBs. We would finally have a real D after a decade of trying to build it back up to our SuperBowl levels!!

And I believe Foles would pair up great with Koetter and his system.

Yeah well that was expected, I suspect the rumors of Marinelli to Tampa were merely a ploy to get Emperor for Life Jerry Jones to step up to the plate and give Coach Marinelli a nice fat contract and probably a nice bump in pay. Looks like Marinelli will be with Dallas for 3 more seasons. But to be optimistic; the defense was the one aspect of Buc ball that actually seemed to improve somewhat over the 2014 season despite the injuries and turnover at key positions. So the question is: what will Frazier and Lovie and Licht do this offseason to try and improve that side of the ball? I think most Buc fans will scream bloody murder if the Bucs draft Leonard Williams of USC with the first overall or drop back with the Jets/Skins and draft a DE like Randy Gregory and get more draft picks this spring and next but recall that Lovie is a D guy and the Bucs did not draft one defensive player last spring so if Mariota/Winston do not impress in the combines I can see a defensive guy getting picked even though it would be the most tone-deaf things the Bucs could ever do, even worse than trading down for Peat or Scherff…. The offense needs more work but nothing coming out of One Buc Place would surprise me anymore….

  21. Buccfan37 Says:

Bucs fans sure do get their hopes up easily. Losing works that way.
