No Respect

Look for Riverboat Ron Rivera to follow the leads of Marvin Lewis and Jim Caldwell

The Tampa Bay offense isn’t just bad, it’s been completely disrespected by opponents over the past two weeks.

Remember that wacky, senseless onside kick by the Bengals two weeks ago? The one with Cincinnati leading 14-10 with 2:04 remaining in the third quarter?

That was the ultimate disrespect for the Bucs offense. And right on cue, the Bucs recovered the kick, even advanced the ball on the return, but then the offense did nothing and kicked a field goal.

Last week, on the Lions’ opening drive, Detroit chewed up 10 plays and plenty of yards to the Tampa Bay 24-yard-line. It was 4th-and-1, and the Lions passed on the easy field goal and went for it.

That was yet another slap in the face of the Bucs offense.

What team passes on points like that on its opening drive? A team that has no fear of being outscored. (For those wondering about the fourth-down outcome, the Lions ran at Michael Johnson, who got blown off the ball. But his teammates were stout, and the Bucs stopped the Lions.)

Today, with “Riverboat Ron” Rivera coaching the Panthers, Joe can only imagine how much Rivera will gamble on the Bucs’ inability to score.

The Bucs are 2-11. I don’t respect them either.

  2. Louis Friend Says:

Put it this way: In the NFL this year the AVERAGE team scores 23 points per game. The Bucs have reached 20 points only once in the last 8 games – and that was aided by an INT return for a TD. Would you respect them?

Yeah….we gotta watch the Bucs on Fox today instead of Johnny Football..

Got to love that lovie ball, for the draft that is.. Now can we trust lovie with the draft? He has made a lot of bonehead moves or non moves so far so who knows what he wants to do but he better get it right or next year there is going to be a lovie hate fest much worse than schiano’s last year…

  5. Louis Friend Says:

Soggy, you’re assuming there will be enough fans showing up next year to create an uproar. I’m not.

  6. Soggy Says:

@Louis Friend, If lovie gets us one of these QB in the draft and fix the Oline at least somewhat decently, and give the rookie QB a chance to compete or win the starting job in the offseason, that might keep some of us going to the games..I think a rookie QB would come out of the gate being better than McCown.. Looks like glennon will not even have a chance.. Oh what will the bucs be like in 2015 under lovie? …

  7. Soggy Says:

^^^ I should of added a decent OC also ^^^

Well I am heading to the book and the under seems to be the play.

I tell ya, the Bucs don’t get no respect. Gotta go out there and earn it team! Beating the stinking panthers would be a start.

  10. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Just get disrespected for 3 more games…..PLEASEEEEE!

Lovie should be calling schiano for advice the way he screwed up an already bad situation.

Stop blaming licht he is a victim of Lovie’s total control. Licht has a solid record in the past just look at the first place Cardinals.
