Can Bucs Snap Rushing Drought?

December 20th, 2014
When Doug Martin slashed through the Raiders defense in 2012, it marked the last time the team had consecutive 150-yard rushing days.

When Doug Martin slashed through the Raiders defense in 2012, it marked the last time the team had consecutive 150-yard rushing days.

At least in the past three seasons, no matter how deep the stable of Bucs running backs is, no matter who has been coach or offensive coordinator, the rushing game has revolved around one man.

That man’s name is Doug Martin.

This really surprised Joe: Even with Bobby Rainey, even with Mike James, even with (over?) hyped rookie Charles Sims, the Bucs’ approach isĀ all about Martin when it comes to running the ball.

The Bucs have not had back-to-back games of 150-yard rushing attacks since Doug Martin tore up the Raiders on the road back in November 2012. That’s pretty amazing. In those two games, at Minnesota and at Oakland, Martin ran for 135 and 251 yards, respectively.

The Bucs eclipsed 150-yards last week as Martin let the way with 96 yards.

Why does Joe have a hunch acting offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo will, once again, throw in the towel on the run in the second half tomorrow?

I don’t think it would be throwing in the towel if we are behind by 21 at the half.
Last week was a totally different story…..Arroyo is lost out there…..2 more games….

  2. David Says:

We need to draft Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah, Right after we take Mariota!

  3. DB55 Says:

Bc Joe is wise and pays attention.

Funny thing about last week is EDS grabbing and tackling lukely on martins 63 yard run. If the refs call that hold, which they should have, we’d be looking at another 30 yard rushing performance from both backs. #Pitiful

Next tidbit will probably be Coach Lovie announcing a trade of Martin and the giving up of 2 future first round draft choices to get Jay Cutler. This whole Bucs thing is like spending 24 and 7 in Monkey Jungle.

  5. Buccfan37 Says:

Martin after nearly written off still flashes some spark for the Bucs.

  6. Cannon Fire Says:

Because our O-line performs much better in the passing game than the running game.

  7. OB Says:

When you are down 42-0 at half time, it kinda hurts your running game. The real question is how many turnovers will McCown have in each half? I believe he has played in 10 games this season and has 12 INTs and 9 Fumbles of which I believe only 4 have been lost. So I think he will out do himself today with a hostile crowd and warm weather for the Packers and their Cheeseheads and will do 2 per half.

Joe, I’m going to answer your question with a few questions of my own…

#1. Do we have the same offensive line?
#2. Do we have the same running backs?
#3. Do we have the same QB?
#4. Do we have the same OC?

Unless any of the above have changed all of the sudden why would the results be any different?

This offense sucks from top to bottom with the exception of Mike Evans and sometimes V.Jax…

The only thing pitiful out here DB55 are your constant snide remarks from being a troll and a fan of another team. Why don’t you give it up. You are just so pathetic.

  10. ddneast Says:

You would think a site that is supposed to be dedicated to Bucs fans that you would see at least one two encouraging rah rah type comments.
    Nope, not here.
That’s why I am convinced most of you clowns are fans from other teams who just troll out here to be annoying.

  11. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

Sure if the Bucs can stop a blocking drought.

  12. DB55 Says:

    Dd

You’re the troll. Constantly calling people names and blah blah blah all day. I’ve been nothing but positive about:

    LVD
    Banks
    Ja Smith
    Martin
    Lansanna
    Vjax
    McDonald
    Gholston
    Russell Shepard
    Rainey – on pr
    Glennon

The rest of the team sucks except for Evans. What exactly do you want? EDS is garbage man just garbage. My point above is that martin would still be wrecking shop if eds and mankins would get it together and stop committing stupid penalties.

  13. ddneast Says:

In case you didn’t notice DB55′, this is a team game. It’s not a game where you support 8 or 9 players and oh yea Evans. How many other teams do you do that with. Betcha you play Fantasy Footbal, too.
Sat next to a guy who was in Bucs garb but was rooting for Nick Foles cause he was on his fantasy football team. Huh.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, ” You can’t serve two masters.”
Try explaining to your wife that you have a girlfriend on the side but you love her more because you live with her,
Doubt if any of that makes sence to you.

  14. DB55 Says:

LMAO you’re a funny guy DD. A funny guy.

What do you have against FF?

  15. Joe Says:

#1. Do we have the same offensive line?

    No.

#2. Do we have the same running backs?

    Yes.

#3. Do we have the same QB?

    Unclear.

#4. Do we have the same OC?

    Hell no.

  16. ddneast Says:

    I knew it.

  17. bucs4lyfe Says:

He will throw in the towel on the run game because he has no clue what he’s doing. If he keeps trying to throw the ball on this team instead of running the ball and keeping Rodgers off the girls he should be fired during the game
