Don’t look for Johnthan Banks on Sunday

The Sunday prognosis for Johnthan Banks is not good.

Banks “hasn’t been able to do much this week,” Lovie Smith said today.

So now what?

It sure looks like cornerback Crezdon Butler will get his first NFL start, as Banks struggles with a neck injury.

Who?

Butler, 27, was a Sept. 10 pickup by Tampa Bay after he was among the final preseason cuts of the Chargers. He played a dozen snaps or so at corner in New Orleans on Sunday.

The Bucs are Butler’s sixth NFL team since he was drafted in the fifth round out of Clemson by the Steelers in 2010.

Yes, the Bucs are thin at cornerback, and Leonard Johnson isn’t exactly wowing the NFL at nickel corner for the one the league’s worst pass defenses.

The Bucs will really need the elusive pass rush they pay handsomely to show up against Baltimore.

Going to buy Crezdon’s jersey right now!

  2. bucrightoff Says:

Open up that playbook on offense. Gonna need to win this one 34-31.

  3. Louis Friend Says:

How do you pronounce that first name?

In other news, predicting Flacco torches the secondary, and Butler leaves the game with griddle marks on his ass. Probably the safeties as well.

  4. Louis Friend Says:

    And what pass rush?

Aside from 2 good quarters at Pittsburgh they have 4 sacks in the other 18 quarters played. That means we don’t have a pass rush.

  5. Louis Friend Says:

BTW, we’re on a pace to record fewer sacks than in 2013. You remember 2013, when line stunts were all the rage and a guy named Nesheim started on defense?

  6. SteveK Says:

Schiano was smart to stunt the D-Line, Louis Friend, as there is not enough talent to create their own sacks. The DLine this year is better too.

  7. Bucnnole Says:

Anyone but Leonard Johnson. He is straight GARBAGE

  8. NewTampaChris Says:

Looks like it’s time to start Steve Smith on my fantasy team this week!

  9. buc4lyfe Says:

Yes schiano was smart to line stunt all game last season because he was too stupid to resign roy Miller and Michael Bennett. Somehow was so full of himself he thought he could get a rookie and da’quan Bowers to take their place, yea real smart look at our pass rush but hey we saved a couple million for the Glazers

  10. Waterboy Says:

    Should’ve kept Revis.

  11. BucFan Says:

^^ F@@@ Revis. He has done noting this year but shut done a hobbled WR when they played Cinci.

This dude butler is supposed to start for Banks or Johnson i might be confused with that photo. But i hate leonard Johnson that fool has cost us so many plays big ones too weakest link in the secondary

  13. 77 bassguitarist Says:

Joe can u explain the steelers stuff on you’re site??

  14. Owlykat Says:

Next Man Up! Good luck Crezdon. We should have kept Johnson’s backup who looked good in Preseason. Hope he is available.

  15. MadMax ™ Says:

When you’ve already given up on the season as a fan, speaking for myself on this one….small tidbits of showing like the game against pittsburgh, and the game we SHOULDVE won against the ref loving saints keep hope alive!

Why MG8 isnt officially named the starting QB is BULLSPIT! Along with some other transitions NEEDED!!!!!!

WAKE UP L&L!! YOU”RE LOSING US!!!!!

Banks “hasn’t been able to do much this week,” Lovie Smith said today.

Hmm, perhaps Lovie should rephrase that: the dude hasn’t been able to do much all season except help back up QBs with Carolina and the Lambs have career days and be part of the 56-14 shellacking the Bucs got in the ATL….!

  17. PRBucFan Says:

Just a bunch of fans being melodramatic.

Not one person can actually truthfully tell me that they believe Glennon should sit again.

Lovie knows whats he’s doing. He’s departed ways on his earlier McCown project it’s not like he won’t do it again.

Maybe the biggest disappointment to me is the HC and his forked tongue demeanor.

  19. jodi sportcoat Says:

Leonard Johnson has returned 2 picks for touchdowns in his career as a Buc.Our other corners have zero.

  20. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Forker tongue, biff barker?

Please explain that one to me.

  21. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    forked I mean.
