Bucs GM Jason Licht sounds like a Mike Glennon Mob member

It sure sounded like Bucs general manager Jason Licht has a Mike Glennon Mob membership card.

The man who passed on Teddy Bridgewater and Johnny Football in favor of the “quarterback of the future” tossed around noteworthy accolades of No. 8.

Speaking the locker room after the thrilling comeback in Pittsburgh, Licth gushed over Glennon and described him as “poised, resilient, resolve,” and Licht liked the confidence oozing from Glennon.

“He knew that he could do it,” Licht said.

Before the game during a radio interview, Licht was even raving about how Glennon “stands tall in that pocket and is poised.”

Joe’s still wondering why you can’t buy a Glennon jersey at Buccaneers.com or at NFL.com. Perhaps Licht bought them all?

    They are afraid of ‘server-overload’.

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

That is strange, no Glennon jerseys available.

  3. Touch_Down_Tampa_Bay Says:

    o.k. I’ll ask the question.

This is the perfect time to ask since Glennon did a good job Sunday.

How many MGM members have a Glennon jersey? And if you don’t are you going to get one?

(I’m not a member but support any Bucs QB)

  4. robert9 Says:

i hear the glennon jerseys will be turtle necks

  5. Touch_Down_Tampa_Bay Says:

Amazon has Glennon’s jersey for sale…

  6. Bill T Says:

LOL I’d buy one and would definitely wear it. I think there would be plenty sold as more fans than most realize consider him as an underdog who ACTS professional

The only reason im happy is we arent starting 0-8. Still think that the sorry saints are gonna destroy us we cant stop the pass let alone the best catching TE in the game. Barron has been a huge disapointment to me and gohlston. Cant play zone well they both tackle well after the other team gained 15 yards

  8. foghead407 Says:

Outside of david our linebackers are below average

  9. RastaMon Says:

Well look who popped out after a win…..

Umm, as Joe wrote yesterday and in this post, Licht was out and on the record before the game. –Joe

Hate to say this but even David has been below average against the pass. ALL of the LBs bite hard on playfakes and leave the middle of the field open.

is it me or does it look like are 2 safeties are playing to deep in our tampa 2 sceam?

Thinking the same thing. Just like Dominik used to do. All over the media landscape when the wins and the positivity is flowing, in hiding when the team can’t sniff a W.

  13. foghead407 Says:

Your right about safties and david hasnt been too bad or good against the pass. To me thats the biggest issue with our team not the offense or dline. But secondary and li.ebackers in coverage. Huge HUGE passing lanes and gaps

  14. Patrick in VA Says:

I have to imagine that they are using these blogs and social media to take the pulse of the fanbase to see if it’s worth the up front expense to produce the jerseys. Because people were inexplicably critical of Glennon during his rookie year and because people have held such a deep grudge against Glennon having even a modicum of success, they probably just figured that they’d wait until public opinion turned and some more demand was out there. The casual fans who have their opinions fed to them by the local media are going to be slow to convert because we’ll have to wait until the media types get over their own egos and admit a good game when they see one without trying to find a way to fit it in to their narrative that they’ve held on to so staunchly and then the trickle down will eventually make it out to the masses.

  15. foghead407 Says:

And why does our punter deserve that money he sucked every game

  16. tmaxcon Says:

Printers have minimums and the mob is small. When 8 can put an entire game together others might buy in. It was a nice win and 8 did what he had to do but let’s not get stupid. Pittsburgh did their part in losing that game with penalties and missed opportunities. 8 needs to string some good games together before he deserves a jersey. Plus he still can’t pull.

  17. billy buckaroo Says:

    I Kinda remember that guy??

  18. DallasBuc Says:

Joe- “Umm, as Joe wrote yesterday and in this post, Licht was out and on the record before the game. –Joe”
Isn’t he required to appear on the Bucs Radio Network pregame broadcast? That’s what you are referring to, right?

  19. DallasBuc Says:

    Patrick in VA- punctuate. Please.

  20. biff barker Says:

Resolve is the key word here. He didn’t give up.

Employing the same logic, the Bucs could have went 9-7 last year.

  22. FanOfBucs Says:

I met Licht and he was very nice.

Therefore, he can do no wrong with me.

  23. Patrick in VA Says:

@DallasBuc – That ship sailed back in third grade. Try to look through the minor formatting errors and just bask in the wisdom I’m dropping on you guys.

  24. biff barker Says:

Stay clear and far from the puke splash when Lovie benches the Cannon and starts his guy.

    It’s inevitable.

  25. BucFanInTokyo Says:

    @robert9

That was excellent comment. I would get and wear a turtle neck Glennon jersey if it meant McCown was relegated to 1st String QB Sideline Cheerleader.

    #DoTheRightThingLovie

  26. ruggyup Says:

This morning’s Orlando Sentinel says Lovie will not name Glennon as starter for the next game. He is waiting to see who will give them the best chance of winning. Qbs of the future? No such animal living in Fl. The future happens to be right this very moment, next Sunday’s game. Cut the bs coaches.

  27. Brian D. Says:

I’ve been a McCown proponent since he got here, and I still insist that he is a much more accurate passer than Glennon…but maybe accuracy isn’t everything.

Obviously, Glennon makes better decisions. He has a stronger arm. He looked very poised the other day. The rush is pretty much invisible to him and he hung in until the last second on several throws. He also throws his receivers open, meaning that he does a better job of anticipating an open receiver than McCown, who tends to wait until the receiver is actually open, which is too late. I liked what I saw…I just wish he was a more accurate passer…and I just wish our receivers would catch the damn ball more often.

  28. Soggy Says:

Glennon and the team made lovie look a little foolish with the whole QB thing and at the same time making him look good with the win.. He needs to fix the secondary fast before saints, I am just a little pumped again this season they way our division is giving us a get out of jail free card.. Lets win next week at all cost..

  29. jo_mama Says:

    FIRE Lovie Smith.

    He sucks as a coach

  30. lurker Says:

now we really need to draft a qb this year since we passed on so much talent in the draft at the position last year for a teddy bear wr.

  31. Hawk Says:

Guys, it may not be so much the secondary, as the D-line. Remember back to the mid/late ’90s into the ’00s, when the D-line would knock the snot out of opposing QBs in the first two series? After that, the QBs looked like they were auditioning for ‘Dancing With the Stars’, and throwing ‘gifts’ in every direction. If the D-line can continue (and increase) their play from the Steeler game, the secondary doesn’t need to be HOFers.

  32. keith Says:

Real reason Glennon jerseys aren’t being sold is due to.
Bucs fans not wanted to waste money on a jersey if the team cuts
The player or trades the player away.
How many people bought Ol Gray haired Revis jerseys? For 1 damn year I didn’t buy 1. And on that note I’m glad his money hungry ass isn’t
    In pewter and red.

  33. Couch Fan Says:

Dont be silly. That bust QB we drafted in the 1st round could never put together a complete game in 60+ starts but you all rode his jock like no other. But your trying to tell me Glennon has to put together a complete game before you buy in? Get out of here with that stupidity. Just admit you hate the guy and want him to fail. Would get you more respect if you were honest.

  34. lurker Says:

we don’t need a pinocchio at qb…we need a real qb.

  35. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

Glennon is Matt Cassel, good enough but not the long term answer.

  36. jbskiff Says:

The poor excuses some haters will use to try to disguise their bias. At least the has been golfer admits he hates Glennon’s ass. I just wish that Joe would come on board fully and wish the kid could find his grove and develop into a great quarterback for the Bucs. Any other wishes for Glennon means you want him out of here as soon as we can draft or trade for someone else.

  37. BoJim Says:

Man. The haters still hate. Remember that Glennon put it on his own shoulders for the win. Would you all have been happier with a loss? Please go away.

  38. lurker Says:

feels great to get a win. but please, though glennon contributed to the win, and finally led the team back for a win, he wasn’t the only factor. i don’t understand your hardon for a mediocre qb.
