Former Marine Josh Frey, who gave the Bucs one of his two Purple Heart medals, watches the Bucs night practice last week

Last week Joe was about speechless — quite a feat if any of you know Joe — when he learned how a hardcore Bucs fan and honorably discharged Marine gave one of his two Purple Hearts to Tampa Bay general manager Jason Licht.

The marine, Clearwater High School graduate Josh Frey, wanted his favorite team to have one of his two Purple Hearts for all the Bucs have done for veterans, and for providing Frey countless hours of action to take his mind off both his experiences and injuries.

Chris Fischer, a sports anchor with Joe’s good friends at WTSP-TV Channel 10, caught up with Frey at the Bucs night practice and produced this quality report on Frey and his love for the Bucs. Enjoy it!

I’d rather have Josh Frey on this roster than Da’Quan Bowers.

Thank you for serving our country, Josh, and may you be an example for the mentally weak (Bowers).

WOW! The Lombardi Trophy is no longer the most important piece of hardware in the Buccaneer trophy case!

Too bad Kellen Winslow Jr. wasn’t there to see what a real soldier is.

Cmurda you are right on with that statement. Mr. Frey you are an exceptional example of what having class, being humble, and being a real man and American hero is all about. Thank you for everything you have done and everything you have sacrificed, your story moved my entire family and brought us to Tears even my wife who is on probation until she drops the Bears and becomes a Bucs fan.

We may not all like our leaders or agree with why we are overseas but we all support you Mr. Frey and everyone who has served in the history of our country. Lastly thank you to our favorite team for constantly showing such great support for our armed men in women. I am proud to be a Bucs fan and raise my kids as such for this sole reason win or lose. GO BUCS!!!!!
