The Depth Chart

A depth chart before a preseason game is always worth a laugh, even for former Bucs.

The Bucs depth chart in early August, before the Bucs even play a preseason game, has about as much meaning as an windshield ice scraper in Florida. It’s almost a choke.

Even Bucs coach Lovie Smith noted three times in his post-practice presser yesterday “not to put too much” into the depth chart, and all but admitted he would not have released a depth chart now had he not had his hand forced by the NFL.

In this SportsTalkFlorida.com video, Amanda Borges and Jenna Laine discuss the weirdness of it all.

    I miss Revis 🙁

Charles Sims you better be the real deal as that ultra coveted receiving RB… You also better be better than De’Anthony Thomas (Drafted in the 4th round after where we would have picked if we had kept Revis)…

  3. Miguel Grande Says:

They need to get Jenna a stool to stand on.

i think the depth chart weirdness (youngsters sitting further down the chart than we’d expect) might also be about setting the younger players up for more reps tomorrow. by keeping guys like banks, ASJ, the rookie guard, and mike evans out of the first team, they actually get more snaps and maybe get a softer entry into the NFL. they can worry about technique and reading their keys more than beating a higher quality opponent also.
