Da’Quan Bowers Injured (Again)

Yet again, Bucs DE/DT Da'Quan Bowers finds himself watching practice, nursing an injury.

Yet again, Bucs DE/DT Da’Quan Bowers finds himself watching practice, nursing an injury.

For a moment today, Joe thought Da’Quan Bowers was again being rewarded with a day off for hard work. That’s what happened last week when Bucs coach Lovie Smith gave Bowers a vacation day to stand on the sidelines and watch practice.

Monday, Bowers again was found without a helmet. Alas, after practice, the Tampa Bay pen and mic club found out the defensive lineman was not rewarded. Instead, he is injured. Again.

It seems that after the best series he ever had for Tampa Bay, Friday night in his first series at Jacksonville, playing about a dozen snaps, Bowers blew his groin.

Yes, it took that long for Bowers to be sidelined. Again.

Perhaps, Bowers pulled his groin celebrating his best Bucs game, all 12 snaps or so? Joining Bowers on the sideline with a groin injury was fellow defensive lineman Steven Means.

“Hopefully we will get them back out there before long,” Lovie said.

Bowers is just a walking enigma. Either he is always hurt or he is out of shape or he is haunted by the voice of Greg Schiano. The guy just can’t catch a break.

Never understand the apparent anger and frustration people have for athletes that get injured. I don’t pretend to be a big fan of His play on the field, however, I do not fault the man for blowing out a knee, Achilles and now his groin. Anyone that has had any of these injuries understands the difficulty in coming back and performing at a high level.

REALLY feel let down by hearing this because for those 12 or so plays, Bowers looked ALIVE again… truth of the matter is though, if you can’t even take seriously enough the blessing of being able to play in the NFL that you keep yourself in shape, you don’t deserve to be there in the first place. Seriously?? Come into June in such horrible shape that your position coach calls you out publicly about it, sorry but you’re not going to make a mad fitness dash and get into “football shape” in a month’s time, and you’re 99.9% of the time going to wind up hurt whether continuously with low to mid grade injuries or one major one. PERIOD. Sounds like Bowers should have been partnered up with GMC and followed his year round example of staying in shape…IF he REALLY wanted to play football.

You SURE you don’t bear a hurtful grudge towards poor, Poor Da’Quan?
    He’ll be back soon.
    Taking Clayborns RDE job
    Getting “comeback player ” mention
And making all the doubters feel just awful- for bad mouthing one of the Bucs young budding stars.
‘Course, all the hateful ones will deny it- claiming they were On Bowers Side from the beginning!
    Lol

Joe knows of no player in any sport who *wants* to be hurt. Some guys are just injury prone and cannot be counted on.

Here Joe thought Bowers had turned the corner on his career. Now, yet another injury. As Joe stated above, he can’t catch a break.

We thought we were getting value when we drafted this guy as he was coming off injury, dump him now.

Bowers rides the injury merry go round. He never gets off of it.

“Blew a groin” doesn’t bode well for him. I don’t think he’ll be healed by the first game.

    “Blew a groin”

As long as he didn’t do it for money…
