Bucs Are Watching Randle, Sapp And Millard

July 26th, 2014

RandleLovie Smith is going old school with his Tampa-2 defense.

And, yes, Lovie and staff have gone old school with their teaching influences.

Joe had a little quiet time with Bucs nose tackle Akeem Spence yesterday, and Spence explained to Joe how defensive line coach Joe Cullen has been showing the D-linemen film of legends of the 4-3 defense, John Randle, Warren Sapp and Keith Millard, among others.

Of course, they were all defensive tackles like Spence.

One thing Spence learned is the simplicity in their greatness.

“I’m just sitting there. ‘Wow!’ They’re doing one or two moves but it’s always working,” Spence said. “I just need to come up with a couple of moves and have it work for me just like that. That’s what I’ve been working on.”

Spence echoed what other defensive players have been saying about Lovie’s defense. It’s simpler, easier and let’s them think less. He also said the widespread study of the defensive greats is part of an effort to have current Bucs focused on being great players, not “average.”

As for Sapp, he’s expected at training camp tomorrow with NFL Network, and he might make a personal visit this evening.

I hope Sapp tips the cab driver.

Pay close attention Spence! Those are some big shoes to fill. Put down the bong and lay off the gas peddle. With enough dedication, you could be one of the names future up and comers are reviewing tape on.

Hope the DEs are paying attention to how Chris Doleman and Simeon Rice played in that film as well.

Yeah lay off the bong we all know Sapp never smoked any weed and that’s why he was so great.

Actually, those accusations were laid to rest long ago and were false.

The fact that he has gone since without touching the stuff is further evidence.

    Sapp still smokes weed!

    Half the NBA does!

Shoot, the Seahwaks LOVE to burn herb!

    And they are world champs!

Josh Gordon is one of the most talented WR’s in the NFL, and he loves herb!

    LEGALIZE IT!

    Vote YES in November!!

    Jah love!

If that’s what you want to believe Bonzai I won’t burst your bubble.

I dont mind zone defense. But I think its important to jam the receivers at the line every now and then to throw off the timing. I think in the last five seasons our corners have maybe touched a receiver two or three times when they were coming off the line.

Sapp had a marijuana problem at the U in college, which is why the Bucs were able to grab him later in the 1st round, but he must have learned how much money it cost him and stayed off it with the Bucs. Marijuana hurts your intelligence and your drive. I don’t see Floridians passing it and risking our image as a vacation destination for families. Tourism is too important to our economy!

  15. Buccfan37 Says:

Owlykat says “Cannabis hurts your intelligence and your drive.” That is pure BS. Reefer madness died and has been disproven a long time ago. What hurts your intelligence is ignorance about a natural plant that is wholly beneficial to human health. Studies prove it kills cancer cells, promotes and builds human brain health, staves off alzheimers and is one of the most nutritionally complete foods known to mankind, and that is only touching the surface of this miracle plant’s ability to heal the human body. It is illegal because entrenched business interests are threatened by it’s potential ability to wipe out their income that is derived from pollution, drug death, imprisonment and war.

  16. Stanglassman Says:

Thanks for repeating the propaganda O-kat but I know better. FYI I don’t smoke the stuff personally.

  17. Stanglassman Says:

I do agree that Sapp did a good job of keeping his personal business out of the headlines. Those who don’t know talk and those who know don’t talk.

You’re a flipping idiot. Josh Gordon is one of the best WR’s in the league and yet he probably won’t suit up this year (or perhaps ever again) because he can’t give up weed. Doesn’t that tell you something about how weed and some people interact? Some people just can’t say no and it ruins their lives. And for others, like you, it just makes them stupid.

Why doesn’t anybody ever want to quote the UK studies that conclusively links long-term use of marijuana to clinical depression? Because it doesn’t fit their agenda.

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

Brandon… I know people who have smoked cannabis nearly every day for 40+ years. None suffer depression. Believe what you want from the UK, nothing but more lies from the anti freedom liars.
