Joe Talks Offense, Identity, Stats & More

June 4th, 2014

TedfordintroWhat’s a Wednesday night without Joe talking all things Bucs with the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620?

Never fear, Joe dove into various things that came out of yesterday’s OTA practice at One Buc Palace.

Enjoy the full audio below. Grab a cold one and soak it in. It’s probably got more action than a Rays game.

I listened to the program today and was most interested in the conversation regarding Carl Nicks. Joe didn’t want to completely write him off, but puts his return at a low percentage.

I agree! There is also something going on with Nicks because I listened to all of the asst coach interviews and nobody will even comment on his situation – almost as if they have been instructed not to say anything. Tedford said it was above his office to respond and Warhop ducked the question like well…..the guy had MERSA or something – you’ve gotta talk to Lovie about Nicks.

When the OC and O-Line coach won’t comment on one of their own players, there’s radioactivity in the air somewhere. I won’t make unwarranted assumptions, but my antennae is up sensing that there’s an ill wind blowing somewhere!

Waiting to hear what happens and is said next Tuesday, the first day of mandatory mini-camp!

  2. rayjay1122 Says:

I am not counting on Nicks return. The O-line is my biggest concern for our success on offense this year. Maybe some descent talent will be camp casualties from teams that are loaded on the O-line.

  3. Alberto Says:

Steve Duemig doesnt really know the players. He is more of a casual fan. How can he dismiss Rainey like that? The guy was a FA pickup during the season and scored 5 TDs. He needs to watch more games and talk a little less.

Are you blocking me or was I filtered? lol

Holy crap what a GREAT show that was. See that’s how it’s done guys. Replay and listen to this show if you get the time. Then go and listen briefly to other shows and compare. THIS is what I was TRYING to say last week. Still picking apart a rookie QB is a little silly, but do what you must.

    [Deleted trolling comment. — Joe]

    Once again. Awesome job.

  6. Buc1987 Says:

[Seriously. Once more, you are gone. You just can’t leave this subject alone, can you? Joe is sick of babysitting your comments whenever this show is uploaded every week. You just don’t get it do you? Others have been bounced for repeatedly not compiling with Joe’s simple rule here. You are no more special than the other clowns that got bounced. If you cannot help yourself, Joe can. No more warnings. No more pleas. Joe’s had it. — Joe]

Everyone is so concerned about the offensive line. I guess if we had penn, nicks, zuttah, Joseph and Dotson all here it would be a strength. Let’s be real, that over paid offensive line has been awful for a year and a 1/2 and many times out played by back ups like Ted Larson. Why wouldn’t you prefer to move in another direction because we have already seen what those players are doing. Remember, the previous coaching staff traded for have carimi and kept sending him out on the field to get beat over and over again. That same regime paid big money to that offensive line. As offensive lines go, maybe having a unit working together that are thought to have “less talent” is the way to go. The old way clearly wasn’t on a great path.

Then by all means block me. I don’t care anymore. If you think I can’t post on your site under a different name then you are mistaken. I CAN do it and make it known, but I won’t do it either way. I think you are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OVER-sensitive. What I asked was basically nothing. Take me away. Block me. I don’t care. I can’t EVEN ask you a question to ask the guy on the radio to ask Jason Licht without you going all hissy fit on me. “Trolling comment”???? It was a legitimate question. Good lord I don’t care anymore.

Please block me already. For I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Maybe I don’t kiss ass the right way or something. It was a simple question. There was nothing snide about it.

    Buh Bye JBF.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

Buh Bye from a REAL Bucs fan.

    This conversation is getting fun….

One MGMer down…only ten to go!

Note to BucFan1987: Ever hear of ip block?

Joe, just a quicky question…is the mobile app nearly ready yet?

When Joe has a mobile app that’s ready to Joe’s specs, you’ll be the first to know. –Joe

I love this site, I love your Wednesday programs but does it always have to have a significant time spent where there is a ridicule segment or more of Glennon? What the hell so important about one person saying he has a great arm, another says an above average arm and some have stated he has a cannon for a arm. He has not bragged about the strength of his arm, he is not starting and not complaining about his plight. Can you name me one other player, let along a quarterback, who has shown more grace, maturity and team spirit in doing his job and interacting with coaches and team members after being benched by a new coach? If he is brought up by your partner to laugh at, please take the program to another subject.

“Ridicule” is a pretty strong word. Joe can’t speak for Duemig, but Joe’s not ridiculing Glennon. If you listened here, Joe shared a lots of positives on Glennon. –Joe

It is interesting about running tandem backs to keep them fresher. I always thought we should have used someone else more tho help extend the life of Marten. It’s like when on a bivouac in the army, the Sargent would stop the company for a brake and holler out, “burn them if you have them” and before you know it you are all out of smokes!

  13. Chef Paul Says:

IMO, ridicule is an accurate word. To the host anyways, not necessarily the Joe’s.

When you mentioned that (paraphrasing) McCown threw a pick in practice, then Glennon came out and threw a pick too, the host quickly responded with OMG OMG Glennon threw a pick? We have to devote an entire segment to this. Lets go to break early so we have enough time.

McCown’s pick gets 100% ignored by the host.

Now, I know the Joe’s aren’t the biggest Glennon fans in the world, but I can see you are trying to be fair in your statements about the QB’s. I don’t expect you to be 100% unbiased. You have your favorite and so do I. We are all a little biased in our comments. But the host takes zero effort in that. And that’s fine, it’s his show. But ridicule from the host is accurate IMO.

What he is like the rest of the time, I have no idea. I only listen when the Joe’s are on.

  14. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Honestly, I missed the segment because my vehicle was in the shop for three days. I can’t listen to it on my tablet for some reason. My kids has highjacked my laptop to prepare for finals. (Grrrrr)

I think MGMers are overly sensitive and hypocritical. If the dog had said nothing but good things about Glennon theey would be on here praising him.

For some reason, fans think only their opinion can be right and expressed. They attack anyone with differing views.

As for me? I’m on the fence about Glennon. To me, he hasn’t shown enough. It doesn’t mean I think he won’t, but it doesn’t mean I think he will either. On the fence means I’m waiting to see.

But it is Lovie’s fault the meddia is focussed on Glennon. When he named him “the future” italso said that McCown is not. McCown is a one year solution with a two year contract. The media will focus on him enough when the season starts. Until then, the off season and preseason is all about “the future”…good or bad.

Had Lovie just said McCown will be the starter when the season starts (like he is planning) and said Glennon is still developing and left it at that, the media would not be talking so much about Glennon.

  15. Orca Says:

I think it’s overly pessimistic to say essentially, as Joes and Doosh Mig have, that they have “no line”… First of all, there’s just as much reason to be hopeful and optimistic about Collins as there is to be doubtful, but the Joes always weight in on the doubtful side. We’re pretty solid at center and right tackle as well. All the real questions are at guard. I think they have hopes for Omameh or they wouldn’t be giving him 1st team reps. Cousins worries me because I’ve heard nothing good about him. I think they’re optimistic about Kadeem Edwards and Meredith is capable of some decent play. I think they’ll be OK, with some growing pains.
